Unfortunately I think it had to do with timing. Cher must have hooked up with Greg Allman shortly after the show started. I believe that her and Sonny were divorced by the second season. She married and had a Son with Greg and rumor had it that Greg was jealous of the success of the show and the time she spent with Sonny and made things difficult. I thing they would have had a very long and successful run had the timing not been so off.
