Awesome! This is the first time I've seen "The Honeymooners" on 16mm! The quality of this is actually quite good considering the age! I can't wait to see what more you have for us!
Thank you! Actually, the quality isn’t as good as it should be. I didn’t know that twisting the camera in the unit actually adjusted the focus, so I’m going to do a retransfer for myself. The old transfer is on Google Drive and I’ll try to provide a link. I have two more films coming: a B&W episode of “My Three Sons” and an episode of “Hawaii Five-0”. Stay tuned!
TheVintageTVArchive It's still better than most 16mm footage I've seen! You always do a great job! I can't wait to see those other two! If you ever acquire any 16mm of "The Lucy Show", that would be great!
I wonder if you've tried to find any 16mm prints of _The Honeymooners_ that were produced after 1976, which had the filmed V of Doom at the end, as I have recreated here? ruclips.net/video/1XwigzgJhIU/видео.html
I remember this show every weeknight at 10:30 and market heights Illinois when my mom would watch it. I have a greater respect for this show now. It was such a great show a lot of comedy I love the theme song. Brings back a lot of memories from when I was young.
I never got to see ending credits for the show until the late 1980's which was after I saw the last episodes with the V Of Doom which was on WGN while WFLD was still airing the series. Later WGN acquired the show and years later it was on my local Me TV station.
I aim to please! I’m pleased with my transfers overall, though I do play to re-transfer all of my films with higher quality audio and slightly higher video quality. The current transfers will stay on RUclips, however.
You know since 1958, WPIX Ch.11 here in the NYC area has aired The Honeymooners. Now in the 80's I remember seeing the video V of Doom (which really is not scary). But I have never seen 16mm film of this...and with the pinball Viacom logo...I was for sure going to see the FILM-O-VISION V of Doom! By the way, PIX 11, plays some digital prints...and sped up...along with the Wigga-Wigga...VIACOM...at the end.
Too bad I don’t live in New York, or I’d definitely get some digital captures of PIX’s episodes. I do, however, plan on taking a trip to NYC soon, so we’ll see then!
Hopefully, WPIX will continue their Saturday retro marathon of shows including Honeymooners, now that the CW has added Sunday night programming. Now, PIX airs a marathon on New Year's Eve of the Honeymooners...but last winter in NYC was a COLD ONE!
I don't ever remember seeing The Honeymooners with the pinball logo. It was always the Viacom V of Doom. But it was nice to see the dirty film print here. I remember this is all you used to see on Channel 11. Then after they cleaned it up and sped it up beyond belief it got lousy.
By the way The V Of Doom was still on the show and replaced maybe by Wigga Wigga. I first saw promos for the show for WTTW maybe in 1977 or 1978 which was on late nights.
never seen the honeymooners end with the pinball in syndication always the videotaped v of doom and the wigga wigga they prob did have it with the pinball in the early 70's
Same as with 16mm prints of cartoons by WB, Harvey, NTA, and others that used it. I have cartoons on 16mm that had some head and foot leaders. If I can get more of these, it will be quite interesting. If I can find any video of the SMPTE head and foot leaders, it will be used for my projects.
I have a question for you Mr. Archiver.... was the Pinball or the V of Doom ever on syndicated repeats of SPACE GHOST? It aired on CBS in the '60s and I know HB shows on CBS like JOSIE + THE PUSSYCATS or SPEED BUGGY had the Pinball and V of Doom at the end. But I only watched SPACE GHOST as part of the World of Super Adventures package. And for that matter, was the Pinball or V of Doom ever on SCOOBY DOO?
I’m not sure if Viacom ever syndicated “Space Ghost,” but I do know that they, at one point, syndicated “Scooby Doo, Where Are You”. I have a 16mm print of an episode of “Scooby Doo” that has Viacom’s Pinball after the Hanna-Barbera logo.
The film had no exact date. The year, however, was marked 1971. Eastman/Kodak used a series of symbols to date film stocks instead of actual numbers. The edge code for 1971 is “○+”. A full list can be found here: www.filmpreservation.org/userfiles/image/PDFs/fpg_10.pdf
1971 was also the year "CBS Films" became Viacom Enterprises. New prints were struck for most of the programs already syndicated by CBS (including "I LOVE LUCY").

This is my favorite version of the Honeymooners closing theme, especially that ending.

As long as I can remember.... WPIX used the V of Doom....
This intro will always make me feel at peace

The countdown looks and sounds like the same one that was on the "I Love Lucy" you uploaded. The same three "pops" at 3.
I’m not sure why those pops are there for, as I’m only familiar with the 2-pop (the beep heard as soon as a countdown hits 2).
