Thank you to Colleen Rothschild for partnering with me on this! Occasionally I am sent products for my consideration, and links are affiliate links which means I make a small percentage off the sale, but it does not cost you anything. All opinions are always my own because thats just how i roll. xo - Хобби
I am probably a bit more "mature" than some of your followers but your take on drugstore products is top notch so I always refer to your videos for this information. This video is everything. Some tips were great reminders and some were aha moments. GREAT VIDEO!!!! Thank you Kelly!
"Makeup is subjective".... Thank you. I've been wanting to post something on TT for awhile because I just turned 40 (literally yesterday) and I really dislike videos that state "what NOT to do", especially for a certain age range. I hate them because makeup IS subjective and completely unique to the individual wearing it. So to tell someone NOT to wear their makeup a certain way when they might feel beautiful that way is very cruel. You're video had me worried at first but in true Kelly fashion you came to teach and be respectful!! I loved the tips you shared and how you kept it very respectful. Very classy as always❤.
Happy birthday!🎉❤🎉❤!!!!!!
Thanks Kelly - you are the first person who has ever explained the primer/foundation dilemma. Color me learning something new today. Thank you
The foundation / primer was so informative I loved it!! I feel like I actually learned the difference and now will look into what my primer and foundation combo is!!
I sooo appreciate you saying this about lashes that are too heavy/overpowering! I use to do this too and my eyes looked so droopy 😅 now I wear more natural lashes! It opens up my eyes and looks flattering ❤
For a person with very hooded eyes, large
lashes aren't so bad..
The eyebrow, powder under the eyes and the curling your lashes tips are a must for me. I got to age 30 before I started to realize I needed to curl my lashes, they are average length, pin straight and they hate holding a curl, so I just wouldn't do it and my lashes had a very droopy look especially on the right eye which is a bit droopier. However I finally found a heated eyelash curler on Amazon and I got a percision eyelash curler from Revlon that can reach the corner lashes I can't reach without pinching my eyelid, they work amazing together. I curl at the base then the tips of my lashes, then I use Maybelline the Falsies Lash lift waterproof mascara, it actually holds a curl and gives you a lot of length and definition that lasts. Then I curl again if needed, total game changer!
No one ever talks about the primer water v/s oil thing, I had no idea. Thank you!
You give a lot of great tips! Thank you so much Kelly!!! I love your videos!❤
You are so welcome!
Love the tips you shared.I catch myself doing certain things a old way.I really do love the tips because it does make your makeup look different.I like a good makeup look.
Thank you for the content
of course!
Kelly, I have been a long-tome follower of yours and I love how you do your makeup, but I can appreciate these tips and tricks of yours, especially the blush placement! I have a round face and I cannot believe the difference in the two placement you did on your blush!! Love this!!!
Kelly! Newer subscriber here. I don’t typically wear makeup but I thoroughly enjoy your reviews and tips. Thank you! 💛
hi! thank you so much for subscribing! xox
I loved the breakdown about the differences in primers and foundations! I never knew that was a thing… but that makes sense 😅
Yes, thank you Kelly. I really had no idea.
I love how you just slid past how you use to use concealer. People would tell you not to use so much but that never stopped you. lol
😂 I know, right?
I am such a creature of habit, it’s like no matter how much I watch these I feel like my hands have a mind of their own while doing makeup 😂
Same girl, same!! 😂
Oh my goodness best video ever!! You know I’ve not heard anyone talk about matching primers and foundations - great tip!!
If you warm you eyelash curler with a lighter it works wonders on your lashes and then apply your mascara.
Could you please do a full face of all your holy grail makeup choices? It can be a mix of high end and low end as long as they are your ABSOLUTE favorites!!
Please include skin prep for your makeup.
The best tip for me was the blush. I did not know how to still wear a blush without looking like a doll. Watching what you did makes sense. Thank you.
I really enjoyed this video! This really helped me step up my skills! Thanks Kelly! 👄
Thank you for this Kelly, I have done most of these things and always wondered what I was doing wrong. Thank you for actually explaining everything step by step. I appreciate you and as always you look gorgeous!
I love this !!!! Great video
so glad!!
Girl sameeee! Can’t see my old pictures without laughing at my box brows omg 😂😂😂 what were we thinking! Such a good video!
I needed a video like this!!! I’m fairly new to make up and I’m loving doing my make up ❤
I'm so glad! you got this!
Yay!!! Hey Kelly! Thanks for the tips!! ❤
welcome! xoxo
I LOVE this video! It’s amazing, your “bad” side ages you and the “good” side you look so young and fresh! The most 🤯 for me was the blush!!
Thank you .
I always learn something when i watch your videos! Thanks Kelly!
The blush tip was SO helpful! 🤯🤯🤯
Love this!! I have watched you for years and I loved seeing you create different looks but I never particularly got ‘tips’ due to my makeup style being very different. Now I get loads of tips and recommendations from you as your style has evolved! Different makeup but same lovely chatty style which I’ve always really enjoyed ❤
Hi Kelly good morning happy Wednesday morning and I hope you having amazing day today and I loved your vlogs and you are amazing Supporter and I'm proud of you
Try warming your eyelash curler (think about your hair if it’s cold it doesn’t curl as well but a little head 😉)
I have oily skin and cannot find a primer that works. Without primer my foundation stays and produces less oil. Any recommendations?
Just a suggestion, I'm also super oily, I use the elf power grip primer and then my long wearing foundation. I struggled with primers for years. This is the only one that has seemed to work for me. ❤
I was thinking the same thing ughhh
@@tanyad7073I’ll have to try that
This was SO helpful! Thank you so much for explaining all of this!
I 100% agree with you on the false lashes, eyebrow and lips. I am so happy to know that the primer and foundation needs to be the same base; oil or water.
I did the eye shadow in the don’t side
Oh boy!!!!
Thanks for the tips
of course!

I really like their TLC foundation

I have been watching makeup tutorial for almost ten years now, and I never thought I could still learn so much! Love this video! Love your content! Love you! PLUS, some things in your makeup routine might have changed, but you're still the same sweet person from when I first started watching your videos, and I love that!!!! ❤❤❤
❤❤it's no wonder you're so loved - you're wise beyond your years!! The tip about the lashes is so insanely accurate it's not funny -- I've been seeing more women my age (I'll be 50 this year) still wearing the super fluffy lashes and that's great for them, if that's what they like- me personally agree with you with the more natural lip. I think you've also mentioned the lip lining trick before because I started doing it after seeing you do it and LOVE IT. What a great video!! ❤
Thank you ❤
Loved the trees swaying in the background🥰
One of your best videos! I rarely comment but this one is simply awesome. So helpful . Great job!
Excellent video Kelly! I think this advice is very helpful for newbies and us oldies. It's never to late to change your style. With that being said, I totally agree that you should do what makes you feel good, makeup for me is an extension of my personality so be yourself and don't what others think. Life's to short so don't sweat the small stuff! Thanks again for your videos and love your channel.
love it
Oh my goodness! I feel so stupid but thank you so much for explaining about the primer/foundation! It makes so much sense but I never thought about it and no one has ever explained it that I watch. I really appreciated that 🥰
What is your go-to lash curler??? I've been curling mine since I was about 16, and I'm 49! It DOES make a huge difference! Totally opens the eye! Even if I go without makeup!
The tarte one!
All of your videos are so informative. You’ve been helpful! ❤🎉
The dramatic lashes are fine if you cut them to your eye length so I wouldn’t let them go altogether but I love the look Kelly 😊
Love the lip hack!!!!
Love this!
I am glad that I had a microblading done. My eyes show up so much better.
Great tips thanks xxx
Great tips! We can all use a beauty refocus every now and then. 😊
How does one keep foundation from going into the smile lines?
Love this video, blush placement is amazing, however I feel you never did your brows so boxy, always brushed them , cleaned and blended before (5 years ago)and big lashes look good for night outs I think this style is bit too clumsy but you used to wear long feathery whispy lashes, you always cut your lashes in past ❤️ so those never looked bad, powdering the face makes the biggest difference
So what's the water based foundation you used??
You did great explaining the why you changed the way you did those steps. Loved the video.
Loved this!
I loved this video with all the tips! I really enjoy your videos and have learned A LOT from you!! Everyone always tells me now your make up is flawless!! Which I love the compliments. Then I always have to say you have to watch Kelly on RUclips! ❤❤
Also something you could do is tell us what kind of brushes you are using to do your make up. Like which brushes you use to blend
eyeshadows etc. Or like your favorites.
You're so cute that both sides look nice!
Excellent TIPS! Well done Kelly 🎉
My opinion there aren't really "mistakes". it's how people want to do it. I'm going by the thumbnail pi. You explained exactly what I was thinking in the very beginning of your video, lol. A lot of people still wear it the way the X of thumbnail side looks, and It still looks fine. But yea the tips of applying things the right way is always great!!
yes totally agree! There is no "right or wrong" way to do makeup but these are just what have really worked for me!
@@KellyStrackI was going completely by thumbnail and title. You summed everything up in your video that I was also thinking. I thank you for that cause no one is cautious of their wording (which it sucks you even have to be, but these day's unfortunately you have to be when it come to this type of job) but I do appreciate that you do go out of your way to explain what you mean. Doing what you do is the exact reason you are never on the drama channels and I love that lol!!
Thank you for this video! ❤Ana
Thx kelly learned a lot ❤
I love this video. It breaks down the science behind the makeup. It helps to understand so as to get the most effect from our products ❤❤
Depends on what type of makeup I'm using. My go to favorite drugstore makeup primers are Milani Bright Side Illuminating Face Primer and Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser Primer and these two primers work well together. Elf Halo Glow Powder is my favorite drugstore powder. I love using it before I go in with my complexion products after I do my skincare to make it all set. I did go to school for makeup and I learned that curling your eyelashes before going in with eyeshadow makes it last longer.
Both sides look awesome. I started using false lashes a couple of months ago… still looking for that perfect lash!
Love all yr new tips! Yr new way is so much better! That’s what I prefer! I finally bought the Tarte DIY Eyebrow Fine Liner! I freaking love it! I follow yr tips n now my brows don’t look blocky! Ty so much for this video! I have an oval face. So yes I use to put my blush on my apples of my cheeks lol 😂 not anymore! Ty again for doing this video! I love how u do yr makeup now! So much better! It’s clean looking, it’s so fabulous! U still look gorgeous both ways. But, this way yr features stand out so much better! ❤❤
Hi Kelly. Love your videos!
I LOVE the pat mcgrath under eye blurring powder! So good under the eyes!
Will be using these tips! Love you Kelly!
Where or what eyebrow pen is that?!?!
This was so helpful and specific with explanations of why things work or don’t work for your face. Thank you Kelly!! ❤️
Good job!
What’s a good eyelash curler??
You are so intelligent, Kelly. I hope you know that about yourself!
Omg I just ordered that primer today I wish I would have known you were gonna review this I didn't use a discount code pd full price I saw it on tic tok
I recently subscribed and I have been obsessed with you the past month and enjoy your content so much!!🫶🏻🫶🏻🥰
Yay! Thank you!
You do transform so makes sense❤
Do you have a list of the products used plz ? X
What lash curler do you use? I never see any difference with the lash curler I use 😕
Even silicone based primer’s first ingredient is water.. if there isn’t an ingredient in the top 5/10 that ends in -cone, it’s water based 🫶🏻
This was a verygood informative video, thxfor sharing godbless😊linda
What a difference Kelly. I could see that as you went along with the makeup. This has been a very helpful video and gives me something to think about as I do my makeup too. Thank you for all of the wonderful tips and the whys and why nots. Great video Kelly.❤💖🌸🌹💐
Great video!! Thank you for all of the tips. Thank you for doing these videos. For my eyes I have to go large because I have a larger eyelid. I still come up with great looks. 💖💖💖
Thank you for the tips! What color lip liner did you use? I feel your makeup always looks so beautiful
10 years ago..now..10 years later. You always slay the looks!
hey kelly! i just got the elf halo glow finally yesterday lol! ive gotten so much makeup cuz of ur channel 🤣
yass omg have you gotten a chance to try it yet?!
yes twice! wearing it right now!
Thank you for the tips! What is a good drugstore matte lipstick thats not to drying and a good gloss?
Oh Kelly you’re just the BEST! Thank you for all the great content! 💕
Wow, what an awesome video. Thank you. I learned a lot!❤
Ive tried different primers and they all cause my make up to separate on my face so I just gave up!
makeup is completely subjective and this is all just about personal preference (said by kelly herself)
- always wear a primer
- make sure u don't mix water based and silicone based primer & foundation bc it mixes like oil and water. (silicone primer = silicone foundation, water primer = water foundation) --- (check ingredients list to find out which is which)
- match foundation to neck
- understand blush placement & what works for your face shape and desired outcome
- always set your under eyes with powder
- only outline the bottom of your brows (gently) to prevent boxy and harsh brows
- pack eyeshadow in before blending bc it keeps it clean and not too harsh (tbh optional)
- always curl your lashes !!!!!
- find the balance of a lash that compliments your eyes and not overpowers
- only overline the cupid's bow & the center of the bottom lip (follow natural lip line along the sides)
- if youre doing the nude glossy lip thing use a matte lipstick underneath that basically matched your lip shade before putting on gloss so it still looks like the natural gloss, but lasts wayy longer
Great tips, girl! 😉 Definitely gonna try some of them. Thank you!
I loved this video! I’m going to start curling my eyelashes now!! ❤
Great video .Learned a lot. Did not know to use silicone primers with a silicone foundation and water base primer with water base foundation. Thanks. Never looked at this information.
Great tips, thank you for sharing. I love your videos 😁♥️
Thank you for this very informative video! Taking the time to explain things you’ve learned, has helped me, as well others. Do this type again! ❤
what mascara do you use?
