I've always been more of a 357 Sig guy than 40 cal. Glad people are finally coming around again. 357 Sig had some life 10 years ago, hope it makes a comeback.

The .357 Sig is an excellent cartridge. The Texas DPS had many failures to stop using the issued Sig Sauer P220. They tried different ammunition to no avail. The .357 Sig was making a name for itself in law enforcement. It was like having the old .357 Magnum revolvers in a semiautomatic pistol.
"having the old .357 magnum revolvers in a semiautomatic pistol" is exactly the design philosophy that powered the development of the .357 Sig. I'd say that they hit the mark with it, too.
Excellent as always. Has anyone EVER seen a 9mm 124 grain projectile, even in +P+ ; from a Glock 17 get 1,432 fps, 569 ft-lb energy and expand to .57. With 17" of penetration?? I have not.. But there sure are lots of people out there saying "no point to the 357 Sig". etc.

The .357 Sig is dead or What's the purpose . 😂 I have hollow points , Truncated solid ammo . One of the best cartridges ever made .
I'm from the camp of “there's no replacement for displacement” that 10mm projectile looked HUGE compared to the sig bullet. Larger diameter, heavier weight, and deeper penetration. The mag capacity is the same, so I prefer the 10mm…but either one would close the show.
Guess you’ve never heard of a 4cyl turbo out performing a V8? It’s a pistol round, shot placement is all that matters; humans are not made of ballistic gel.
The higher velocity 357 Sig offers more hydrostatic shock that provides instant drops or the lightening bolt effect as the old timers used to describe it.
@@Rubeless Guess you've never heard of a turbo charged v8! Once again, there's no replacement for displacement. If you bring in a turbo, then the v8 has to have forced induction. @kennethferguson4283 2300-2500 fps is required for explosive cavitation, so called hydrostatic shock isn't a thing unless your talking about cerebral fluid.
That Sig was moving for sure. I'll go with you on the winner because I expect more out a 10mm. These tests are making wish I kept my 357 Sig. I might be getting one if this keeps up. All I can say is if you don't have what you want or need you better get it soon.
My edc is 125 gr Underwood Gold Dots in .357 Sig. 10mm rules in 155 gr Underwood Gold Dots. A .40 with Underwood 135 gr is right with the .357 Sig. Great job and great content!
Two of my favorite cartridges .I think that 10mm would've benefited from some more velocity like you said , but those HST rounds came through as usual . I think it's the best defensive ammo out there right now .Anyhow , THANKS for another great test , T&T !
That 357 sig was pretty nice stuff, and I am really surprised they actually understated the velocities; I personally like the 357 Sig more, myself. Disappointing 10mm, but not as bad as I expected either, even if it performed fine. Thanks for the test. Also merry Christmas.
I think it is because 357 sig was designed to replicate 357 mag out of a 4" barrel, so the velocity on the box was likely for a 4" tube. As where the 10mm was designed for full size duty pistols for the FBI.
I'm happy to see you testing the 357 Sig. Always good to see those alerts that there's a new Tools video out but now that you've put my favorite auto round in the rotation it's even better. This round has been my EDC for many years and I trust it to do what it was designed for. Yes it's expensive, can be hard to find, (thanks Underwood) but IMHO it's worth it. Thanks for all you do.
I have #6 diff types of #defensiveammo in .357 Sig. Buddy let me tell you...9mm++++++p still can't hang. I chrono'd a PPU fmj at #1475fps. That's what's up!
Thank you for this test. I carry 10mm and .357 but normally carry the .357 more. This just better confirms I’m still getting the power that I’m paying for.
I load 180 grain xtp over 9 grains of longshot for my gen 3 g20. This load makes 1280 fps producing 650+ ft/lbs from stock barrel. Its around 1380-1390 fps out of my 6 inch KKM barrel making about 777 ft/lbs. I have a lot of respect for the .357 sig, and I really believe its a true man-stopper-as it can be a very energetic round-but it falls short of true 10mm power in at least 1 regard, true full power 10mm can handle the heavier projectiles better. Just because so many companies pug-load this ammo so often doesnt mean the real 10mm is a slouch.
Both are excellent options. But it is hard to beat a 40 cal expanding out to over 75 caliber and penetrating to 19". Sure more velocity and energy is expected and of course better. But results don't lie. The 357 Sig is near Underwood velocity with an HST. These results are as good as it gets. Thank you.
Now that is some real performance. Music to my ears that you are coming down with the 357 Signess. 125 grains moving at over 1400 ft/s are just nothing you want to be on the other side of. I don’t get why Federal isn’t going with a faster 180
@@Rubeless absolutely no debate on that. Plus for most people ammo cost is directly correlated to no of training shots. I handload my 357 Sig ammo, which is really affordable, .355 projectiles just like the 9x19 and the few grains of powder more are quasi irrelevant
@@WarriorSoul357 speed kills 😁. Yeah, worn out saying but the velocity is squared in the energy formula. So if you believe energy on target matters, going down in weight to get higher speed makes a lot of sense. I think 180 is perfect for 10mm and .40 should be 165.
@@nikos6220 Oh I am a VERY firm believer in that saying, "Speed kills" Nikos! And it applies to SOOOOO many things, not just ballistics! 👍👍 I'll be honest. There's a lot that I still need to learn about 10mil and .40 But I've generally been a "mid weight" for caliber kinda guy.
Merry Christmas! They both did well but I'm very impressed with the 357 Sig load for the expansion, depth of penetration + that circle of pain on the front of the block
Federal is actually showing up with these loads, especially the .357 Sig. The .357 Sig gave an average 50-yard velocity of 1248 feet per second, which gives us an average Kinetic energy at 50 yards of 432 energy foot pounds. The 10mm produced V50s over 1000 feet per second with every shot, and with a 200-grain projectile, that tells us that it is "real" 10mm ammo without having to do any math. But math is fun, so we're gonna do it anyway. 50-yard velocities were very consistent (2x at 1050, 2x at 1051, and a low of 1044 fps) and averaged 1049 fps. That gives us an average Ke50 of 488 fpe with a low of 483 and a high of 490 fpe. What the numbers tell us is that the .357 Sig hits harder up close, but the 10mm holds onto its energy better as the distance opens up. But the numbers also say that the .357 Sig still has plenty of energy at 50 yards and is very much a contender.
LOL, "Down with the SIGness!" perfect! Seems that JHP in the .357 SIG gives it a little more penetration than the SJHP in .357 magnum. I'm starting to really like that round. That 10mm did great for a warm .40 S&W ... I'm with you on that, Make Ten Great Again!
I own a M&P 357 sig, and a Glock 29 and I’m glad to see the 357 Sig can hang with the 10mm. Thanks for all the work you put in to bring us the information.
@@CreasyEQ There's debate what has happened since then, but a good number of people believe the SAAMI max pressure has been lowerd about 20% since that time. I'm not sure honestly, but the ammunition manufacturers are all over the place with their loads. Only a few boutique makers actually load stuff according to original design, such as Buffalo Bore, Grizzly, DoubleTap, Underwood, Steinel.
@@ryantogo8359 The caveat being "the same barrel length." How long does a semi-auto barrel have to be to equal a revolver barrel? They are measured differently and a revolver runs about a 10% loss in barrel gap. Bullet travel length would probably be the closest way to measure. The .357magnum starts to show it's capabilities when you run heavier bullets like the 158grain, which in the original quoted design ran over 1500 fps in 8-3/8" barrel, that's over 800 ft-lb energy.
Nailed it. The first semiauto pistol - Mauser C-96 - was originally chambered in a bottlenecked case. .357 SIG is LOUD though. Only time I ever developed a flinch. And it’s a challenge to hand load with that wicked short neck (compared to caliber diameter). My solution is the 9x23 Winchester.
.357 Sig is always impressive, just barely exiting the first block is picture perfect. The .357 Sig bullets are actually designed to operate at that high velocity they didnt just shove a 9mm luger bullet in there like they do with .40 S&W and .45 ACP in 10mm in .45 Super. Thats why you see so much watered down 10mm, the bullets they use will over expand under penetrating or shed its petals off causing the core to over penetrate otherwise. XTP bullets, as they expand so little at their rated velocities, do well at true 10mm and even .460 Rowland velocity, but few other JHP designs will.
Another excellent video. I am glad to see you finally showing interest in 357 sig. it is one of the most underrated cartridges. I wanted to point out something also about performance and power vs the overrated value of Foot pounds energy. This video was the perfect example of how velocity trumps caliber. You can clearly see that the 357 performed better than the 10mm and despite the fact that they were virtually tied in the foot pounds, the performance was clearly not equal. There is a simple math formula to rate power for cartridges that is more accurate in terms of real world performance. It also applies common sense as to bullet weight: it assumes that the bullet weight is within acceptable range for calibur in order to achieve acceptable penetration. Take the calibur x the velocity then divide by .1 to get a scale value 1-10. Example: .355 x 1450= 505.9 x .1= 50.6 357 sig. .401 x 1150= 461.1 x .1= 46.1 10mm. This is pretty much the difference we see in the ballistics Gel.
These are personal defense/LE rounds. They are loaded to penetrate 15" +/- 2" not to be the most powerful or to penetrate more or less than the goal of 15". The factory adjust the velocity to achieve this goal with this lot of bullets and do not care about the power as much as being consistent in the penetration, accuracy and expansion goals.
.357 SIG and 10mm are awesome cartridges! The Turkey’s Opinion took the 200 gr. HST and loaded it to proper velocities, and it’s an amazing performer! If Federal loaded the 200s correctly, I would buy as much as I could, and buddy, I buy thousands of 10mm rds.! But I eat a lot of peanut butter, lol. Stay safe and thank you for the videos!
Glad to see you doing more with 357 Sig. 10mm is a superior round to the 357 Sig, but my daily carry is a 357 Sig because of the size of the guns. 10mm guns are all built off manufacturers' 45 ACP pistols, so the 10mm guns are way bigger than they need to be.
The lighter the gun, the worse the rapid fire results. Hits on center mass matter. This is true of 9x19, but at magnum velocities like the Sig, few are going to hit center mass consistently. I shot 10mm 1911 Government model size exclusively in practical shooting for a decade or two, and it is an acquired taste and art. You either love it or hate it. With a short grip frame, no thanks. You need all five fingers, LOL.
Perhaps the best thing about .357 Sig is you get to be “above” the caliber debate between 9 and .45. Sounds like you’re gonna need to buy a Glock 32 for a late Christmas present. If you can find an Sig P239 in . 357 Sig, it’s a nice carry option too. Thanks for the video!
IF you can find TRUE 10MM...It usually takes the cake. 357S, while tough to find, I've almost never encountered it being weak. Regardless of brand. Despite being harder to find, it generally is a safer purchase. Also quite expensive usually lol. 10 is a crap shoot, unless you order from Underwood, Buffalo Bore, etc. Cheers. Great tests. Love seeing 357Sig included. My favorite round.
Great ammo for self defense. Sucks the HST 10mm doesn’t have the speed but would work for self defense. But I’d rather have .357sig in smaller gun. 10mm to big of a gun just for self defense I’d just carry a .40s&w with 180grain HST
I got both the Glock 31 gen 4 and the Glock 20 gen 4! I keep the HST in both on my nightstand! You can't go wrong with either round in my humble opinion! These probably are the best HST they make in these two calibers! I would trust either one to stop a bad guy! Your right about 10mm ammunition! It should at least be loaded to 1300 fps and at least 700 ft. Lbs of energy! Usually Buffalo Bore, Underwood and Barns does that!
This was surprising to me. That .357 SIG had a significantly bigger and longer permanent wound cavity. It’s also going to be better at penetrating barriers. Thanks!
The ripping in ballistics gel is not analogous to human tissue as human tizsue is fibrous and has a completely different expansion threshold. In short, human tissue is not made of gel. The only part of the wound cavity that can compared in a gel test is the actual crush cavity. Damage to the gel caused by the expansion and ripping of the gel can not be compared. Watching this through a screen there is no way to tell what damage is crush cavity and what damage is from the gel expanding and ripping.
That was A++ in my book. Why buy any other defense ammo other than the Federal HST. 100% on board with you. Great performance. The SIG was a nice surprise. Great test and commentary. Thanks for sharing. Be safe. ⭐️⭐️🇺🇸⭐️⭐️
This is a great review. You always do such a good job of showing us comparisons of weapons we want information on. Great job. Looking forward to seeing more of your reviews.
After years of watching your videos and learning what I have from them, I run HST in everything I have that they make a round for. Not to say it's the only good round out there, but I do believe the HST is the best performer across all calibers as where some companies rounds will perform great in one caliber and not so great in another caliber. They really have their stuff figured out.
I think both of those did really well. Impressive. I can’t recall a bad showing from HST. It would be a hard choice but I think I got to go with the 10mm even though I agree that the 357 might have had a better showing. I prefer the bigger round. My standard carry is the Colt 1911 3.5 inch with 45 +p HST. If I want something a little smaller, it’s the p30sk with 9mm +p HST. My wife carry’s the p365 9mm +p HST.
Took a good size Whitetail with a handloaded 147 XTP in .357 Sig last year at 36 yards. Sgot a very awkward shot twisting aeound in a ladder stand ( couldnt swing the rifle around) using a Polymer 80 pistol i built in .357. he took 2 wobbly steps and collapsed. Broke 2 ribs, juiced the lungs and heart and the slug was lodged next ro the opposite ribcage I was VERY impressed with its performance. Don't own any 10mm stuff othwr than a full size 1911 built in 40 S&W. BUilt it just ro have one. Been considering rebarreling it in .347 Sig
I'm a .45acp fan. I've seen the HST tested in .45 and it's fantastic, very uniform expansion, large overall diameter and the penetration is right where it aught to be, regardless of cotton and hard-barrier busting.
The comments are interesting. 357 SIG is a necked down 10mm. So it's interesting the ammo manufacturers don't give both rounds equal treatment. The reason the 357 SIG is so amazing, is the compact nature of it. It can outperform a 10mm in some situations, all while weighing much less and usually being more concealable vs a 10mm. If you carry every day, you'd know that weight makes a big difference in comfort (and therefore willingness to carry). 357 SIG ammo is lighter than .40 as well and still outperforms it. 9mm weighs less but performs worse. 357 SIG appears to be the Goldilocks round.
The 357 sig in hst, is one of the best kept secrets of gun world. It really is an elite defensive cartridge. And dont get me into the handloading potential of the 357 and gold dot bullets. I sold the only 357 sig i owned , and i regret it. But i loaded 147 grain gold dots to 690fpe...
@@sparky_-mf2cs they are hard to find by default, but you can buy pretty much any manufacturer you prefer in 40 S&W and then buy a .357Sig barrel to swap into it.
It would depend on my targets. Bipedal target= 357 Sig 125gr no doubt. Quadruped (bear , big deer, hog etc) 10mm HST. I'd prefer the 10mm to be 100-200 fps faster. Or, for bipedal targets, 175-180 gr at 200 fps faster.
Hey Tools, not surprised the 357sig did better..but the 10mm is still my favorite regardless. Glock 40 packs a wallop💥💥💥 Great test, keep up the good work Sir! 👍👍👊🎄☃️
A 50 round box of 357? I’d hate to think how much that cost! The 357 Sig is one of the best self defense rounds out there. I used to carry a Glock G32 on a daily basis. Alas, age and arthritis has taken its toll restricting me to 9mm. Another simply great test sir.
Agreed. The .357 Sig has enough velocity in almost every loading to ensure proper bullet performance. Some of those 147gr. 9mm loads don't get enough speed when fired from the shorter barrel lengths and you end up with an expensive, overpenetrating load that performs like fmj.
@@Rubeless Muzzle energy can be vastly different. The Sig could easily produce over 550 ft pounds of energy whereas the 9 mm even in +p loadings usually run in the mid 300’s. It’s like getting hit in the chest with a ball peen hammer or a sledge hammer.
@@markstephens5120 You are absolutely correct. I’d prefer the 357, and did for years. I can’t now. Arthritis makes shooting them hurt my hands. I shoot 9mm because I can. I’m not a 9mm fanboy. You should actually read what I said before reacting the way you did. Merry Christmas my friend.
My thoughts are a winner on both. I don't have any 10mm firearms but I do carry 357 Sig in my Glock 23 (w/Glock 357 Barrel) . It's good to see the 357 Sig tested. I enjoyed the test very much. Thank you. If you get your hands on HST 38 Special, I would like to see that test out of a snub-nose.
Merry Christmas Tools! Hopefully Santa brings you a big ammo delivery. The more I see on the 357 the more I am interested in having an EDC tool in 357 sig..
Merry Christmas Tools to you and Ms. Tools. I believe your test is the first time that the HST has under impressed me. I generally only carry my 10mm's when I'm visiting National parks or forests. I carry Buffalo Bore 200gr. I have no intention of being a bear burger. These 10mm's expanded pretty good in your G20, but did you notice how shallow they expanded? The petals peeled back really well but they didn't seem to go very far down the base of the bullet. I carry HST's for my 2 legged defense loads. I just got through testing HST's in my short barrelled carry pistols (9mm, .40, and .45acp). They performed excellently as usual. I only have one block of gel and back it up with water jugs. Everytime I melt and reform the block, I really appreciate how hard you work for us. Thanks again. Back to my point, I'm wondering how good that 10mm would perform in the 3.78" and 3.8" barrels of these shorter barrels. Thanks again for this test
I totally agree about the 10mm velocity. Perhaps, the thinking on the velocity is that this is intended for personal protection, so they didn't want more penetration? I don't know. But both did great as you say. Thanks for another great review and Merry Christmas!
357 Sig is an underated round and is without a doubt the best handgun round. Where can you get a 130grn projectile flying at 1400fps out of a handgun. Even the 5.7 flys around 1600 and is only 40 to 50 grn. While 9mm goes around 1200 max with a 115 grn bullet. And the usual 45acp only gets to 900fps max. So the best we can get is from the 357 Sig and is the best handgun round.
The .357 Sig will have a little less recoil and it's an exceptional penetrating round. Many state trooper associations adopted the .357 Sig instead of the 40 cal because of its better ability to penetrate car doors.
Another Quality test Tools ! I am planning to buy a Taurus TH10 shortly ! 10mil is the best defensive round in my opinion after watching your tests ! Merry Christmas everyone !
Dang man I didn't even know Taurus made a 10mm. I really like the modern Taurus pistols. I e always had good luck with em and a 10 is just icing on the cake!
Thanks for a nice test as usual. I was seriously considering a SIG P320 in 10mm until I started looking at the actual power levels that the vast majority of factory loads produce. I’m not interested in, “If you try [this or that boutique load], you’ll get the power it deserves to have.” If it says “10mm” on the box, that’s what it ought to be, not a hot 40 S&W. If you keep preaching the good word, maybe that’ll change at some point and I’ll rethink that P320-XTEN for certain situations. Until then I will rely on my favorite: the 357 SIG.
I know the 357 sig had a little more energy (barely) and the 10mm isn't quite moving full power speeds but it's really not that far off like most companies.. still a really good load and if you use it in a longer barrel like i do it probably will hit those full power 10mm speeds.. i love HST's regardless of caliber.. and the bullet design makes up for the 100-120 fps its lacking in velocity.. a longer barrel makes up for it too
Both rounds will leave the bad guy breathless. I have been a fan of the .357 Sig ever since I shot the first magazine in my G33. I wish I could find a TNW Aero Survival Carbine in the gun stores. I think that a pistol and PCC in .357 Sig is the perfect combo for shtf situations... but only if the Signess becomes more prevalent in retail stores. I always enjoy your presentations. Both rounds performed very nicely. While the Sig had a little more energy the 10 despite being a little slow went further and expanded considerably more. Don’t have tools in either round but the HST is definitely a winner in whatever flavor you choose. Thanks for the video Tools!

Your argument is the argument of a non-car guy. You know it, and so does everyone that reads this. Do agree with the shot placement statement though.
"Down with the signess", I love it. Appreciate all the great tests this year. I have a feeling 2024 is going to be an interesting year. All I can say is if you don't have what you want or need you better get it soon.
Great test. Confirms my 357 sig selection
My edc is 125 gr Underwood Gold Dots in .357 Sig. 10mm rules in 155 gr Underwood Gold Dots. A .40 with Underwood 135 gr is right with the .357 Sig. Great job and great content!
That's why Federal HST has been my goto for years. Marry Christmas.
That 357 Sig was impressive.
Creeping up on 60k. Let’s go Brian! You deserve it brother 🎉
Two of my favorite cartridges .I think that 10mm would've benefited from some more velocity like you said , but those HST rounds came through as usual . I think it's the best defensive ammo out there right now .Anyhow , THANKS for another great test , T&T !
Thank you as always, brother. Merry Christmas!💥🎄💥
Gold Dot, HST, and Barnes XPD are all top performers.
I'd still rather go with the 10mm. That thing is a gigantic honker! Merry Christmas T&T. Another great year of content!!! Thank you!
I have #6 diff types of #defensiveammo in .357 Sig. Buddy let me tell you...9mm++++++p still can't hang. I chrono'd a PPU fmj at #1475fps. That's what's up!
Thank you for this test. I carry 10mm and .357 but normally carry the .357 more. This just better confirms I’m still getting the power that I’m paying for.
With with particular factory ammo, not if you go with something like Buffalo Bore or Double Tap, or roll your own.
I've been a 357sig fan since about 2003. Bought a Springfield XD357 back then and it's been my go to handgun ever since. Thanks for testing them out!
Been loaded to its potential to 357 Sig will push a 124 grain bullet at 1550 ft per second out of the 4.5" barrel, that's around 650 ft lb of energy.
Thank you.
Great stuff.😎👊
Actually 19.5" is overpenetration so it failed the test.
@@ryantogo8359aKsHuLly....
Now that is some real performance. Music to my ears that you are coming down with the 357 Signess. 125 grains moving at over 1400 ft/s are just nothing you want to be on the other side of. I don’t get why Federal isn’t going with a faster 180
When you miss because you don’t practice, it’s useless.
180 seems to be a bad number. Some of the other tests that Tools has run on 180 in ten, or 40 have not been winners.
I'll be honest.
I'm glad you got that 357sig barrel,.I know most ppl like 10mm but I'm still a 357sig fan. Great comparison 👍
Very interesting to see how the weights effect how far they carry their velocity.😎👊
The Sig hit like a .357 Magnum 💯
Original .357 magnum loadings from the 1930's would have clocked a 125gr at least over 1600 fps. The 158gr in those days was 1500+ from a 8" barrel.
@@exothermal.sprocket I probably would have been scared 😳 to shoot them @ that time. Sounds like they were more dangerous @ that point as well.
@@exothermal.sprocketout of a g31 the underwood 124gr 357 sig gets 1550 fps. That's equal to the hottest 357 magnum out of the same length barrel.
@@ryantogo8359 The caveat being "the same barrel length." How long does a semi-auto barrel have to be to equal a revolver barrel? They are measured differently and a revolver runs about a 10% loss in barrel gap. Bullet travel length would probably be the closest way to measure.
The .357magnum starts to show it's capabilities when you run heavier bullets like the 158grain, which in the original quoted design ran over 1500 fps in 8-3/8" barrel, that's over 800 ft-lb energy.
.357 Mag. in a semiautomatic. As simple as that. And the bottle neck case shape is known for flawless feeding.
The G31 Gen2 357Sig I carried for 20 years never left a doubt when it hit. Targets would drop or spin sideways.
The more of the 357 sig I see the more I want one, great test. Have a Very Merry Christmas brother
same
Man u have saved me $$$ on 10mm ammo.. A lot of it is worthless since I already run a .40 S&W. Still need to stock up on Buffalo Bore 10mm.
.357 Sig is always impressive, just barely exiting the first block is picture perfect.
Glad to see you testing the 357 Sig
Down with the signess jelly time...that was a good one
.357 SIG and 10mm are awesome cartridges!
That's not true at all. A lot of 357 Sig 125 Grain loads only get around 1350 fps, even 1450 is about 100 FPS below this cartridges potential
@@ryantogo8359 K
Great ammo for self defense. Sucks the HST 10mm doesn’t have the speed but would work for self defense. But I’d rather have .357sig in smaller gun. 10mm to big of a gun just for self defense I’d just carry a .40s&w with 180grain HST
Yeah, both great stuff but the 10 needs more!😆
One exception might be the Springfield XDm Elite in 3.8".
Another great video tools! Just picked up a S&w 10mm. Hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas 🎁🎄
Just what I wanted to see man awesome ! I think I’m getting the .357 sig next !
Still a 10mm die hard. Happy Holidays, I did shoot some really good 200 grain hard cast @ 1290 fps ,hand loads from my 7.5 inch Blackhawk.
Keep the 357 Sig vids coming. Thanks
Hard choice if they are both in the nightstand! Which to grab!!???
The best ammo test on RUclips! Thanks for what you do and sharing these videos!
They both performed great. Another great freedom seed test brother tools
After years of watching your videos and learning what I have from them, I run HST in everything I have that they make a round for. Not to say it's the only good round out there, but I do believe the HST is the best performer across all calibers as where some companies rounds will perform great in one caliber and not so great in another caliber. They really have their stuff figured out.
.357 Sig VS 7.62×25mm Tokarev cartridge ?
Broke 2 ribs, juiced the lungs and heart and the slug was lodged next ro the opposite ribcage
I was VERY impressed with its performance.
Good stuff Tools. I don't have either but it seems like between the two the 357sig might be the way to go.
Sucks that they dont make more firearms chambered for 357 sig
@@sparky_-mf2cs The good thing is at least they make it in the only gun that matters. Lol
@@sparky_-mf2cs they are hard to find by default, but you can buy pretty much any manufacturer you prefer in 40 S&W and then buy a .357Sig barrel to swap into it.

Merry christmas Tools. Thank you for all the work you put into your show, I have learned alot from your show.
No matter how many times I hear you rant about to lack of power a 10mm round has it never gets old! 😂 Keep up the great work brother!
Thanks for testing these two calibers.
Merry Christmas T&T!
Hey Tools, not surprised the 357sig did better..but the 10mm is still my favorite regardless. Glock 40 packs a wallop💥💥💥
Great test, keep up the good work Sir! 👍👍👊🎄☃️
A 50 round box of 357? I’d hate to think how much that cost! The 357 Sig is one of the best self defense rounds out there. I used to carry a Glock G32 on a daily basis. Alas, age and arthritis has taken its toll restricting me to 9mm. Another simply great test sir.
How’s it better? If you hit the lung does it stop them ? No, just like 9. If you hit the heart, will they bleed out? Yes, just like 9.
Agreed. The .357 Sig has enough velocity in almost every loading to ensure proper bullet performance. Some of those 147gr. 9mm loads don't get enough speed when fired from the shorter barrel lengths and you end up with an expensive, overpenetrating load that performs like fmj.
@@Rubeless
Muzzle energy can be vastly different. The Sig could easily produce over 550 ft pounds of energy whereas the 9 mm even in +p loadings usually run in the mid 300’s. It’s like getting hit in the chest with a ball peen hammer or a sledge hammer.
In no way, shape, or form does 9mm compare to 357 sig. You 9mm fan boys are smoking some good shit😂
I've been thinking of adding the .357 sig conversion to my G35. That puppy is slinging em!
Great test Tools. I really like 357 Sig for carry. Love my G33. BUT!!! I still like my 10mm! My G29 is sweet too.👍👍👍😎
Federal should make a 155 grain offering for their 10mm HST, you can get 1500 fps with that and about 780 ft/lbs of energy
Thank you for this great comparison.
Both are Impressive, It's hard to get a bad HST, Now you got me wanting to boogie down with the Signess. Merry Christmas To You & Yours. 👍 🎄🇺🇸
I know the 357 sig had a little more energy (barely) and the 10mm isn't quite moving full power speeds but it's really not that far off like most companies.. still a really good load and if you use it in a longer barrel like i do it probably will hit those full power 10mm speeds.. i love HST's regardless of caliber.. and the bullet design makes up for the 100-120 fps its lacking in velocity.. a longer barrel makes up for it too
Thanks so much for all the great content!
Nice setup, and great video.
Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year to us all. Cheers!
Merry Christmas Mr,Tools. Another great video. I’ve wound up carrying the 357 mag 154grain version of the hst.

Let's not forget barrier penetration with 357sig. I have three 357sig guns.... all Glocks. I mostly carry my Sig1911 C3 because it's pretty.
I would’ve liked to have seen a compatible 10 mm grain weight against the sig. but that 10 projectile next to the sig looked like a damn monster of a bullet. Either way, good content as always.
Still waiting to see that G9 defense external hollow point test in 10mm
There needs to be more platforms/variety for 357 sig
I always wanted a 357-10mm MAG .. THATS A 10MM MAGNUM (yes they make one) necked down to 9mm.... Damn that would hit hard!
Both rounds performed very nicely. While the Sig had a little more energy the 10 despite being a little slow went further and expanded considerably more. Don’t have tools in either round but the HST is definitely a winner in whatever flavor you choose. Thanks for the video Tools!
Thanks for the early Christmas present with this testing!
