they are easily one of my favorite modern acts, plus one of my favorite tracks by them, learned it immediately..& yeah those haunting wailing leads really do bring the chorus home, and the alternating drums behind it seal the deal this is why i love death/black metal, this hellish melding of brutally resounding melodies & the beautifully blood soaked harmonies blending into bands like fuckin belphegor still recommend seeing them live, they command quite the presence, helmuth especially
saw these guy's live for the first time on the deicide tour, and they where fucking amazing!!!! The Singer/Guitarist had the best stage presence I have ever seen, they put the entire audience in a satanic trance.
I saw Belphegor in my hometown during the Deicide tour with Hour of Penance and The Amenta and they put on one of the best live performances I have ever seen. They were truly epic, though I'd love to see them at a festival at some point, to witness a more mixed set, at the Deicide gig they mainly played new stuff, and as great as that stuff is, the only songs the played not on Blood Magick... were Bondage Goat Zombie, Hells Ambassador and Lucifer Incestus. All the same, fucking great band!
@TheStalvey hard to say. behemoth is not only satanic oriented and for me, behemoth is bit more into the depth. but if you want to get nice death/black definitively try arkhon infaustus. specially perdition insanabilis or filth catalyst albums. really awesome material as well

Belphegor's guitar work just sounds so much more evil and dark than most bands in this spectrum of metal in my opinion. Don't know what it is...
Tuning. C Tuning. Also Helmuth composes great songs with good chord progression and effects for evil sounds. He just knows how to create dark melodies
