- The Modern Eagle V is an innovative instrument that offers highly musical tones for both recording and playing live. Utilizing a hum/single/hum (five-coil) pickup layout and unique electronics configuration, the Modern Eagle V gives players a vast array of tones in one guitar. The 5-way blade switch selects the pickups in intuitive groupings: treble, treble and middle, middle, middle and bass, and bass. There is a single volume and a push/pull tone control that activates both humbuckers when engaged; this allows players to access all three pickups simultaneously. Finally, the mini toggles allow players to individually separate the humbucker coils, turning the outside pickups into true single coils. This electronics design puts a whole set of classic and new tones at your fingertips.
Additional appointments include a maple top and mahogany back, a 22 fret, 25” scale length, Pattern mahogany neck with rosewood fretboard, bone nut, and PRS patented Gen III tremolo.
“Modern Eagle models have always been built to stand up to history while celebrating tonewoods and the discovery of new tones. The Modern Eagle V is a sophisticated instrument not only in its craftsmanship but in its electronic and mechanical design,” said Paul Reed Smith. “We’ve refined the pickup tones and are pleased to now add it to the Core lineup.”

my new favorite PRS model 😮
Hey Tyler , How are you?
Are we going to see this make a debut on your channel??
Agreed. I picked up a hollowbody PRS about a week ago, something I always wanted to get and it's fantastic but this as a solid body would be great. Every position has a distinct sound and they all sound great.
Idk.. your Custom Wood Library has one of the best looking tops I've ever seen
I sense an unboxing video coming soon????
Could be the ultimate session guitar. The way PRS matches the hum bucker/single coil sounds is incredible. No one else even bothers to do that.
4:22 every single John Mayer fan was triggered by this 😂
100%
I got angry eye
The best by far! A truly versatile instrument and looks every bit as good as it sounds
Brian brings so much to the PRS table! Awesome demo! What a cool guitar! Really to see PRS innovating with the middle pickup placement and bringing these pickups and switching to the Modern Eagle.
Jesus Bryan, that outro was so achingly pure! Coaxing every sweet sound from it even with minimal gain
He is as smooth as silk.
holy cow, prs just dropping all the videos. I could watch Bryan all day
It's like Xmas morning for PRS aficionados, I can't keep up. I thing the Hollowbody/Piezo SE is my favorite so far. The ME is going to be pricy no doubt.
Not only is this an amazing guitar, perfectly presented as always, but a killer t-shirt also - the final cut, a fantastic album. 🙂
Thanks Brian!

@@Nick-qz8he Pink Floyd: The Final Cut
This is a wonderful sounding guitar, and I am always impressed by the talent and teaching ability of Mr. Brian Ewald. One will have to wait for a bit though as I still have about a year wait left on my Core DGT
Thanks for the love, Ross. And trust us... this one is worth the wait!
The Modern Eagle V is my favorite guitar of all time. I bought one last year that was a special order 10 top from a local dealer, who spec'd it out as a Swamp Ash body, with a quilted maple top, and satin flamed maple neck, with Brazilian rosewood fretboard. All 3 pickups sound absolutely incredible. The perfect guitar.
Sweetwater?
Best that a suhr guitar?
How do you think the neck sounds as a single coil. It’s my main issues with split humbuckers. I can’t get that fat clear single coil sound. That chewy Strat sound.
I just acquired a new Wood Library Modern Eagle V with Copperhead finish. It is quite simply the most divine instrument I’ve ever held. I’m nowhere near good enough a player but I wanted a guitar that I would keep for the rest of my life and truly believe I’ve found it. I’ve played many guitars in my 20+ years of guitar playing and I’ve never held anything that looks and sounds as beautiful. I will forever be indebted to PRS for making such a stunning instrument.
Wowza 17 configurations is too much for this guy. I really enjoy my 2022 prs 24 08 custom ! A piece of art for sure. Finally part of the PRS fam haha
BRYAN IS SUCH A GREAT PLAYER!
I have Eagle V Exp 2020. This is the best guitar I ever had❤
Incredibly well build 👏 ❤
Beautiful instrument!
wonderful sounding guitar
This man has great taste in music with his Pink Floyd The Final Cut t-shirt! Great features on this guitar - seems like my Paul’s Guitar plus a middle single coil pickup, good to get my favourite Strat tones from.
Amazing guitar 🤘
Damn that was good playing
Beautiful guitar, sounded great..
I approve that t-shirt. The Final Cut is underrated.
PRS is on one today!
Uhhh! That "moaning" Holdsworthian opening sustained note! I replayed it because it was so ear-grabbing and satisfying!
For a Strat guy like me this is a dream guitar, the best of (not only) both worlds...
งานดีมากเลยครับน้า ถูกลอตเตอรี่รางวัลใหญ่จัดแน่😁😍
Thanks for your demos! Most demos end up being samples of distortion, or how well the person plays! Yours is good examples of what the guitar is capable of. Only suggestion, show your amp and settings.
Love the versatility. I've never owned a guitar that had the 5-way switch in that position. It looks ......non-optimal for making quick changes with it that far away, but I haven't tried it. I guess you'll never worry about accidentally hitting the switch.
Definitely one of the best PRS models ever! With 513;509; McCarthy 595 hollowbody and Custom24/8 and Fiore. This is for me the line Prs ever
Yes! I have a Fiore and its fantastic. I like my singlecut 2001 also but its less universal than other models you wrote
I'm in 💘, just one more 🎸🎸
I'd just like to point out something very significant for me. I've always hated guitars with three pickups due to the middle pup interfering with my picking. Paul being the genius he is,....has moved that middle pup forward just enough to end that issue. Amazing. 🤯
THANK YOU!!!!! ❤
You are so welcome!
What a superb switching design. Looks like a great guitar! How does it sound with the tone rolled back a little way? I'd be interested to hear if it could produce the classic Telecaster bridge pickup sound by doing that.
Every flavor of parallel
😎👍💓🇺🇸🎸 LONG LIVE PRS!!!
RELIC FREE SINCE 1985!
They made some relics for Peach guitars. Hand aged by Paul Miles. Think they were DGTs
Man. One beautiful day when it is in the SE line
That lick sounds just a Full bodied on my SE Standard 24/08 tobacco
And this is Paul’s genius!
I’m not religious, but thank the Gods for PRS 🙏 😎
Looks like I'm gonna try my luck with lottery again. 😂
When I first saw this guitar I thought "PRS? HSH? Coil split? Different pickup configuration options? PERFECT!!". UNTIL I realized... It's just 22 frets. That's a killer for me for that type of guitar. Otherwise... Best PRS guitar to date.
Can we get this kind of wiring on the PRS Special?
WOW! Gas activated
PRS with the most disposable pickups selection
Did PRS really discontinue the 509? Was this the replacement?
🔥🎸🔥
Does the 2024 version with MEV Hum which replace the TCI hum pickups sound really different ?
I’ll never financially recover from this.
any chance of doing one with out of phase switches?
what is he playing in the beginning of the video?
Just received one of these and was surprised that it isn’t wired him canceling in positions 2 and 4. Is this normal or is mine not wired properly?
Very cool! I'm someone who hasn't yet learned to play the guitar well, but I like to experiment with tones and sounds, so this might be a nice addition!
You know… There’s something to be said about having a super guitar like a telecaster and finding all the tones that you can get out of that. Just your Tele and an amp. No pedals. Tones are fine… But the real heart of the music is in the playing in the phrasing, and the emotion that you put in and the emotion that you pull out. Sure, we all love the full box of 64 crayons. But you’d be surprised what you can accomplish with a regular old pencil. And an eraser..😂
Plus, this guitar is like $1 million and you’ll be afraid to play it
Please an SE HSH guitar 🥺
Is it possible to make it to SE version? I know I been to greedy, but hei, anyone can dream right?
I wish PRS demoed these guitars with a decent amp… ❤
which coils are engaged when the humbuckers go to single coil mode?
I would love to see a Modern Eagle SE guitar at some point... Maybe as a flagship of the SE range....
Miss the piezo of the p24 trem to make it more..
Why is the pickup switch where it is? They never put it in a Strat position. It’s a deal breaker for me. I own a PRS Custom with the rotary selector and it’s difficult to use.
It's seems that your scheme at the official site has errors : Not the last but just the one before where it's said position 2, 3, 4 with knob pull it's said treble humbucker but show the bridge as Single Coil
PRS it's definitely my guitar BUT too difficult to understand, It seems to me I should study a manual as I am going to pilot an Aibus380. 😉
whats the difference between a modern eagle and a 408?
Middle single coil
Thank heavens I already have a Paul’s Guitar. Buuuut… you never know😉
Love the concept but I'm not sure I'm a fan of this switching system. I rewired my Custom 22 Piezo with a 3way switch & push/pull coil splits and one of my favourite tones is bridge single coil + neck humbucker, and you can't do that with this switching system. (Comment update: I was wrong, it does this tone! I take it back.)
I really do like the idea of adding a middle pickup. With my Custom22 I can't really sound like a Strat in position 3 or 4. Just wish it had a piezo system like mine!
6:11 it seems like that option is available tho, bridge coil split and neck humbucker?
Just pull out the tone POT and that engages both humbuckers as the latter half of the video explains. It combines Fender Strat with normal humbuckers offerings. So technically it is the most versatile of instruments. Whether you actually like the feel and tone of what’s on offer is another matter altogether. I tried one and it didn’t do anything for me in either more traditional humbucker or single
Cool modes 🤷♂️
@@djt6546 Oh! I misunderstood, I thought that was just to turn on all three pickups at once. You're right, this can do the bridge single coil + neck humbucker, excellent!
Amazing guitar…that’s all without adjusting the guitar volume or tone. Learning how to really play that instrument would take some time?
Pretty crazy guitar for the Studio, though?
beautiful and interesting guitar. Far to many choices for me though.
Would look so much nicer if the middle pickup had a surround...without it , the guitar top looks incomplete...
So this is basically just a 509?
Jeezzz my dream guitar, but the price is still to high to me , it looks beautiful.
che brano è quello che sta suonando?
Leave it to Paul and his team to come up with something that has this many possible combinations. It’ll take a year just to memorize what the guitar can do. Lol.😂
Probablly some positions sound the same for me
18 positions which 8 or even sound the same (for me) is too much
Maybe with distortion it will sound better
Wonderful guitar , versatile as it gets , but I don’t need all those sounds with my ADD , this is kind of like a cross between a 409 and a 24 08 , great guitar though
Excellent axe: but man I hate blade switches
This is liner he Paul’s guitar with an extra single coil
The only downside to this is that I won't have an excuse why I must have a room full of guitars that do the different things that this one guitar can 🤣
Hmmm, ONE Modern Eagle V vs 17 regular guitars 😋
Why use Roman numerals? Is Paul Roman???
Looks better than the number 5, I guess.
And it cost a kidney!😂
Very weird toggle switch system
Also its just a 509💀
ITS LITERALLY THE 509 THE SWITCHES ARE ALL JUST MOVED SLIGHTLY😅 has all the same controls too
