INSTALLING PRO TAPER BARS ONTO MY MT-07!

- This video is a Step By Step on how to fit Pro Taper Bars to your MT-07 (Mine are CR Highs). This is the first time I have done something like this and it was a lot easier than I thought. CR High - Pro Taper SE Seven Eighths Handlebars: www.dirtbikexp...
Step By Step:
1) Firstly remove all handlebar components
- Loosen bolts on left bracket that holds clutch lever
- Remove switch gear on left side of handlebars
- Remove bar ends both sides
- Cut grips off of bars
- Remove throttle cable casing
- Loosen bolts on right bracket that holds brake lever
- Loosen switch gear on right side of handlebars
2) Now loosen bolts holding LED screen and hang it out the way on the right side of the bike
3) Loosen handlebar bolts so it moves freely
4) Remove throttle tube from handlebars
5) Slide left bracket holding clutch lever off of the handlebars
6) Remove bar pad and brackets from Protaper bars
7) Slide left bracket holding clutch lever and throttle tube on the right side onto the Protaper bars
8) Tighten handlebars to your riding position
9) Use masking tape and a marker to mark your drill points for the switch gear
10) Drill both drill points on each side of handlebars
11) Replace all components onto the Protaper handlebars
- Switch gear on both sides
- Right bracket holding brake lever
- Attach throttle cable casing
12) Install grips on both sides using Grip glue/ Hairspray
13) RIDE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT!!!

isopropyl alcohol works good for getting grips on and only takes a few mins to dry off. I don't normally use glue. I find theyre super sturdy even without and it means I can get them off with compressed air.

this was very informative and i like that ya did what a few mechanics do in cluding my self and use what tools ya have at ya disposel it is like if i need a hammer and that is my tool box i will use a ratchet or somthing else like a screwdiver not the correct tool but gets the job done grate video

I had Pro Tapers on both my old MTs. They just felt really really low. Fun for stunting. But not comfy commuting. I had a 2” risers with some Carmichael bend. But it just sat too low.
Yeah I get you, I must admit it took me a while to get used to them. But now I have them I wouldn't go back!
I'm really not looking forward to swapping my bars. But I had to lay my 07 down. So now I'm forced into it.
It took me a while to get used to them but now I love them!
Finally got all my replacement parts in for my bars. About to give it a go. Hopefully it goes smooth

That rough edge thing you're talking about is called being knurled.
Did the ProTaper bars move the riding position higher, more forward (more “lean”), or both? Curious what the effect is. Thanks for posting!
Makes it feel more like a dirtbike, more upright position and more control.
It is batter protaper mini for Honda, fits prfect

No need to drill your bars. The plastic nobbly bits, as you call them, can be easily filed down. And no they never move once tightened, done it on multiple bikes.

How much of a difference did they make on the naked bike?
I think TarzanMotoVlogs done a review on them but they make such a difference. It took a little while to get used to but I wouldn't go back now! 😀
Bro how difficult was it getting off the handle bar from the center 4 hex bolts? I swear I feel like I’m about to snap off the thread getting them off?

@@victordanielgalindo bit late, but easier if you use a proper hex tool. Like a ratchet, more leverage
Is your year an ABS model? Mine's an ABS 2018 and my cables were too short for the cr highs 😢

@@richiep102 hi yes, sorry for the late reply guys! I ended up going in and rerouting the cables which worked. Was able to install klx 110s plus 1" pullback risers.

It is just for model after 2017 this doesn't make sense for model 2014-2017, it doesn't go together, if you have Abs, the cables are too short, there are no variants, I bought one, I can just throw it away!!!!!
I've managed to fit these bars onto both gen 1 and gen 2 Mt07's but I have heard people having the same issue!
