What about when one hurts the other? My else’s held down the middle and squirted sun lotion in his eye. Of course after we spent the 5 minutes flushing it out we had to deal with her. We didn’t immediately deal, because we were so upset. Later (after many fun experiences that day together) when we were going to play a family game we told her that it was so sad, but because she made such a sad choice earlier, and we’d had time to calmly think about it, and decided that since she didn’t play nice she wasn’t going to get to play with us. So she was sent to bed early with some edifying books she could choose from or not. She had the sweetest prayer that night. We made sure she felt loved, but it’s hard. I have never hurt someone on purpose, and an only child, so I’m so inexperienced here!

Yes, when we need to protect one from the other, we do. And the aggressor gets a consequence.
