  • Mike's reliving his past and picked up an AE86 Toyota Corolla to build here on the channel as a new project car! The car is old and slow and has a few questionable mods already but it has "good bones" so it will make a good starting place to do our thing! We've already got a pile of parts for this thing so stay tuned, things should be happening fast on this thing!
Guess what? We sell parts and MotoIQ merchandise! Now you can buy all the same aftermarket parts we use on our project cars and features from the brands we trust! Buying your aftermarket parts from us is the easiest way you can help help support our channel and make sure we can continue making content like this! Check it out at shopmotoiq.com!

I used to rally a Datsun 510 in the mid seventies, tough car but did not handle all that great. Later bought a new AE86 for the wife what beautiful balanced handling it had. After we split up I bought one for me and installed Eibach springs and Tokico Illumina dampers. I could beat it up pretty good going through the Quebec secondary road ways on my way skiing in the Laurentians. The roads were rough and I would yump (fly) the car a couple of times, great fun. Mike you are right about the brakes not great they would fade away when I was having fun left foot braking and pushing hard. I will look forward to your build. By the way what happened to Tokico I wanted some for my 2004 G35 four door hard to find, had to settle for Bilsteins. I am a true old fart now retired with little money but still love to drive hard. Keep up the great work and Mike you are funny at times great.

I've own various 86 hatches and coupe and 1 starlet since 2002 and built them in various ways from stock with just wheels and suspension to full blown 20v drift missiles. I still own the 1st real GTS hatch I got in 2004, but have truly neglected my 86 the last 3 years, it's at my parents home and have been busy with my own family and life, but this video is giving me the motivation to get it back to road worthy condition again. That car gave greater meaning to my life at one point and I owe it "life" again as a gesture of gratitude 👍
