This was a lot of fun to watch! Its a really good case study to go over runs where the player has really limited game knowledge! Glad you enjoyed the reaction!
I would pay money to see you have to deal with him on anything. Couching him through a nuzlock, fighting him on showdown, anything. A soul -link with you two being so difference would be the most amusing best thing I would ever watch. Collab with him somehow please. I would die.
I like that you take the time to come see the vids of people you reacted to. I will say i felt peebs on a spiritual level when he said it's not in the spirit to leave a Pokemon behind. Obviously sometimes there's no choice if the alternative is a team wipe, but the whole point of the naming rule, to me, is to treat them as friends and get attached. My goal with a nuzlock is always to win with as many Pokemon left possible. (Of course that's just me tho)
Jan's Nuzlocke reactions always feel like watching Simon Cowell judging a performer who put their heart and soul into their dance on X-Factor or something. Lmao
@@Jason-er1vf I know, it was mostly a joke. In his early days judging singing contests on TV, Simon Cowell wasn't as harsh as his reputation, but over the years he started playing his harsh comments up for the audience.
I love that this man goes from "God what a loser, just shut up already" to like actually being exited and happy for your win. High quality character development right there
Jan’s content is really funny without ever being too harsh or mean. He’s definitely dry at times but he genuinely enjoys seeing other people do good in the nuzlocking and whatnot.
I don’t think he ever disliked Peebs. He just doesn’t vibe with wacky zaney type content and all that high energy and random noise making. He enjoyed the run mostly tho and even commented here.
The juxtaposition of these two personalities is so hilarious, on one hand PChal who has done so many runs over so many years that he's super analytical and unfazed by Pokemon dying, viewing them as tools rather than virtual pets and then Peebs, who has next to no knowledge or experience about the game yet is super passionate and really attached to his mons, with the dramatic red flash and music accompanying every death. Beautiful crossover XD
It's like showing off the fanbase itself, which is ironic, weird, and funny since Peebs isn't that into Pokemon. He's played what just gen 1 aside from his nuzlock? It's like the conflicting sides of the fans that play it for the collecting and/or RPG elements which makes up slightly the majority vs the competitive side of the fan base which slightly makes up the minority... what I mean by slightly is like it's close split, like 49 and 51 % I'd say, but most people do play these games you know for the Pokemon, for the collecting, or those of us this was our 1st RPG and we still love it and got into other RPGs because of it.
Jan actually straight up said in another reaction video of his that he played so many nuzlockes and was so disensitized to losing Pokémon that he related more to Pokémon villains at this point. So this disagreement of yours with his mentality about making sacrifices makes perfect sense, haha.
@@priestesslucy It was the video in which he reacted to MandJTV's first nuzlocke. I don't remember the exact timestamp, though. One of the top comments alludes to a part where he hinted at it, but I remember him taking it a step further later on in the video.
You can actually see in one of his much earlier series. I think it was a hack of Alpha Sapphire, that Jan wasn't quite as desensitized yet. He had actual emotion when a key party member died.
Not gonna lie watching this recap of the Nuzlocke makes me kinda want another Nuzlocke from Peebs, like I know it’s unlikely but it would be fun to see this again.

Ultimately, it's all up to him if he wants to go through that again, but he didn't seem like he wouldn't NOT want to.
peebs standing up to Jan at the end, saying that losing pokemon in the final fight is wrong, was so emotional. The emotional attachment, still 7 years later, is so powerful.

Realistically I know it must have been a long time ago since it's from before even the PB & Jeff era, but putting a number to it puts a whole new perspective on it. Always sad that PBGGameplay is no more, but also always happy to see your videos continue to evolve - been watching you for over a decade, and who knows, maybe there's another decade of Peeb to come!

As somebody who knows about Pokemon more than any sane person should, but still gets emotional over a Pokemon's death in a nuzlocke, I found this to be the most hilarious thing I've seen all day. Seeing Peebs mourn the death of his beloved ZigZam as the reactor reacts to it heartlessly, and goes on to state 90 different ways he could've avoided the situation was fucking hilarious! Keep up the great work, PBG!
I think this is a really interesting look into the perspective of what let's playing was like back in the day and the mindsets that came with it and that's really cool
Your nuzlocke was probably the most entertaining nuzlocke I've watched. It's the combination of being a noob but being super passionate about wanting to actually do well. It makes for a great underdog story. Also, the reactions and edition was top notch and you really feel it when a Pokemon dies, even if it's obvious they would die from the perspective of someone who does know Pokemon.
I will say. I loved hearing you go on the tangents about Hardcores and hearing you talk about how you wanted to build suspense in the series, which also affected this series. Because like it gave me a really good appreciation for the story telling you wanted to do even if at the end of it all it was still just a casual series with some sense of suspense in it.
I have barely started the video but I love your old Nuzlocke so much. Like I've watched the whole thing at least 3 times over the years??? Your silly little "Pokemon Pokemon Pokemon Graveyard" song has lived in my head this whole time and it won't leave. That's not a complaint, it's just an observation.
Yeah I feel like a lot of people forget about the entire reason you force yourself to nickname each and every Pokemon when they play a Nuzlocke. It's all about the emotional connection, even with Pokemon you don't really like. But I guess I can't blame them. When you lose so many friends over the course of so many nuzlockes, you start to lose that ability to FEEL.
@@billy-the-butcher That kinda goes without saying. I was referencing a very specific factoid about the Pokemon Challenges content creator. Given the ruleset he uses, some of the harder romhacks tend to come down to grinding against the RNG just to come out of battles with the Pokemon needed alive to pass future encounters. Kinda like the type of time investment related to a speedrunner grinding out difficult to execute skips to get better times.
@@Shalakor lol yeah. One of the harder Rom Hacks he finished a while ago, Emerald Kaizo, is so particular that he would reset a run like 10-15 minutes in purely based on what random encounters he got because the difficulty of that hack makes it matter SO much. His winning attempt at 151 he finally got Swellow on like the second route which only had a 1% chance of appearing, and it ended up hard carrying most of the run because of how broken Guts+Facade+Stab is
I like how he's making fun of how much you overreacted in that video but if I'm being honest, that has always been the appeal to your content for me. I think that you are absolutely hilarious.
This was SUCH a fun nostalgia trip, I remember actively watching this series as it came out and genuinely hoping for Peebs' success (while simultaneously face-palming when he put out a Pokemon weak to his opponent, of course)! Ah, good times.
Thanks for uploading this. Missed the stream but I loved this Nuzlocke series back in the day. I still remember stuff like how you'd say Lawlup and how tense I felt watching that final battle. Definitely one my favorite let's plays in general.
Just discovered this channel. I absolutely love your commentary and editing! Such a throwback because I watched the original Nuzlocke in 2014 it’s been awesome to rewatch it with your new commentary
@@BigSillyGoose2000 And while I do know quite a lot about Pokémon, I know next to NOTHING about Nuzlockes, but I love watching Peebs, and I love playing Pokémon, 25 years after it first came out on TV, but I'm sure I wouldn't have been part of the angry mob, crapping on poor Peebo. He's just an average dude doing his best, who openly and honestly admits that he's a scrub when it comes to Pokémon, his words, not mine, because I think he's a great guy. It's ok to not know a lot about something, like Pokémon. I mean, there's nearly 800+ Pokémon, and the series has been going for nearly 30 years, so its not possible to keep up with it forever. But, you can try to, and you can still do a great job regardless of whether or not your Pokémon knowledge is either a little or a lot. Because Peebs maxed out his luck stats here. But I do genuinely feel the same way as Peebs does about his Pokémon. That 1. Never abandon any of them, no matter what, 2. That he genuinely loves each and every one of them, as do I, because that's just how you succeed at being a Pokémon master, you genuinely love and care about your Pokémon, and pretty much all Pokémon, even if you can't use all of them on your team. 3. He wants to win(I mean; who doesn't? He was going up against the Champion of the Hoenn region, Gen 3, Steven Stone), and Austin didn't come all this way to lose, but even if he had lost, at least you can say Austin still cared about each and every member of Team Peebs. Except maybe Elmo. But, like Peebs says, he cares, and wanted the series to be entertaining, which I bet it was. And even if he'd lost to Steven, he still gave it his all, and busted his butt to beat the Elite Four, and the Champion, all in one go. So, props to Peebs, for succeeding, and being the best youtuber ever! And for being the new Hoenn Region Champion, I guess? I mean, I just recently became the Sinnoh Champ in the Diamond remake, and it was great, but not as cool as Peebs being the Hoenn Champion!
I think the reason you're coming up more is because of nostalgia and it being years since you started, I definitely look back fondly at your old videos especially your nuzlocke and when you guys did the hardcore series! Reminds me of when I was in high school.
This Nuzlocke was my favorite thing to watch when I was in middle school. I was so into it, and it may sound corny but it really helped me pass time when I was in a rough spot😅 I still go back to it sometimes because I still love it so much

I like that this guy isn’t being rude with his analysis. I was concerned this was going to be nothing but a video insulting PBG’s playthrough. Kudos to Jan for being chill.
I think this is the second time someone reacts to Pokémon Challenges’ reaction of their own nuzlocke. RTgame did a reaction video to Pokémon Challenges’ reaction of his nuzlocke as well.
He'll never see this, but as someone who rewatches this series once every 6 months or so and watched it as it was coming out, he did not use the EXP share. Maybe one day if I really have nothing to do at work I'll come back through and make an edit of every contradiction in this video from the original series.
I had literally just gotten over the death of Frank the birb and this video has to come along and trigger my horrible PTSD about that death. How could you do this to me, peeberton?

it’s likely been suggested before, but since you both are on Twitch, collaborating for a Nuzlocke run would be fantastic. your approaches as performers (high energy with inexperience/dry and strategic) are a classic combination, there’s a very entertaining narrative to be found there. even better, to keep the pro on his toes and capitalize on your “chaotic” style, make it a randomizer.
I said as much on Jans video but it's no surprise how quick you were to learn and adapt. Even back in 2015, you had a lot of experience from your Hardcores that you were pretty good at adapting to situations
10:11 this part is so wholesome to me the first encounter i ever had with your channel was when i was like 6 i think and i saw your putt putt videos while like on my mom's computer and it like made me think the series of games was called "peanut butter" or something and i kept asking my dad to download the game with "the car named peanut butter" for me and he couldn't find it and it made me angry and then when i was like 8 i remember watching the charlie church mouse video like in my grandparents backyard but i don't think i knew i had seen your videos before at the time i really love your videos my favorite ones are the arthur ones
Something that I think about when watching a reaction to a reaction is the original reactor reacting to the second reaction and then just a loop starts and it always gets a chuckle out of me

I miss pb and Jeff I hope it comes back soon. Speaking of pbggameplay.
“It’s part of the reason I never did one again.”
*proceeds to ignore his multiple randomizer nuzlocke*
Yeah I feel like a lot of people forget about the entire reason you force yourself to nickname each and every Pokemon when they play a Nuzlocke. It's all about the emotional connection, even with Pokemon you don't really like. But I guess I can't blame them. When you lose so many friends over the course of so many nuzlockes, you start to lose that ability to FEEL.
Yeah, I guess spending as many attempts on a single romhack of Emerald as there were Pokemon in Gen 1, hard to see your roster as individuals anymore.
@@Shalakor no casual nuzlocker does that
@@billy-the-butcher That kinda goes without saying.
His winning attempt at 151 he finally got Swellow on like the second route which only had a 1% chance of appearing, and it ended up hard carrying most of the run because of how broken Guts+Facade+Stab is
@@Shalakor you probably knew that already but I was just having flashbacks reading your comment haha
the emotion had me. now I wanna go watch this series, peebs Ily
Ah, good times.
i love the contrast between you two, you have such different energies it's so funny
Also I don’t know anything about Pokémon either so it was nice to not be part of the angry mob lmao
Elmo: How is Geodude supposed to kill Elmo? Geodude is a rock! Geodude’s not alive!
*Magnitude 7 crit*
This was so much fun to watch, and a great throwback to one of my favorite video series I have ever watched on your channel =)
Gosh the Nuzlocke, what great memories. Thanks for the walk down memory lane PBG.
I was so into it, and it may sound corny but it really helped me pass time when I was in a rough spot😅 I still go back to it sometimes because I still love it so much
This was so nostalgic. I still think about this nuzlocke really fondly, I remember how HYPE that finale was when it came out.
Super enjoyed this, reminded me why you were one of my favorite YTubers when I was 15.
Man, your editors are amazing. From SpaceHamster Geoph to Toasty, the music choices are 🤤
It's making me wish there was just a list of music and it's timestamps in every description, but you all work hard enough hahah
oh man this was one of my all-time favorite RUclips series, I remember watching it as it came out originally. it was really fun watching you re-live it
All the memories and treasures in one video, best Nuzlocke on RUclips by a longshot.
This is the five year anniversary of me watching your content. You have been my first and favorite RUclipsr ever
I had literally just gotten over the death of Frank the birb and this video has to come along and trigger my horrible PTSD about that death. How could you do this to me, peeberton?
Glad to see some Minecraft hardcore references, some of my all time favorite series
That photo of Jan is so frikin funny😆 from that angle it looks like his head is sinking into his body
man, zigzam's death still hurts to this day, R.I.P. zigzam
“Dude, it’s 2014 PBGgameplay voice.”
Has the exact same voice. This man’s voice has not changed in the last 8 years…
I remember fondly looking forward to each episode of your nuzlocke as a high schooler, this type of nostalgia means everything to me as I struggle to understand adult life😅
"FRAAAAAAAANK"
"that's unfortunate"
I yelled at my computer so many times while watching PBG's Nuzlocke series, but it is my favorite let's play series on RUclips.
"Zubat is my actual favorite Pokemon"
There's your proof he's being honest about not playing Pokemon that much lmao.
Your alpha sapphire series was actually what introduced me to the world of pokemon nuzlocks. And I have to say you set the bar so dang high, your nuzlock is still my alltime fav. I love your content, both old and new, and it's great that you're getting recognition for it.
I want a Peebs/PokemonChallenges soullink Nuzlocke series now, the energy difference alone would make it goated
Bro I have rewatched this nuzlocke so many times purely for nostalgia
It’s been too long sing the world was graced with the presence with the mighty Zig-Zam!!
watching jan's reaction to this nuzlocke took me back, now watching your reaction to his reaction to your nuzlocke REAALLY took me back, i forgot how nice it was back then when i wasnt as overly analytical about my nuzlockes and played them like a storyline, i should try it again, less sweat more drama
fun fact, Spinda IS canonically an alcoholic in PMD Explorers of sky. in fact, he owns a bar
it’s likely been suggested before, but since you both are on Twitch, collaborating for a Nuzlocke run would be fantastic. your approaches as performers (high energy with inexperience/dry and strategic) are a classic combination, there’s a very entertaining narrative to be found there. even better, to keep the pro on his toes and capitalize on your “chaotic” style, make it a randomizer.
Pokémon challenges when he sees even a little bit of showmanship
“Are there other people that have this much though process in their nuzlockes?”
That’s what 151 attempts of a Kaizo hack does to ya
I really want an animated of 36:06 with Jan dying while Peebs is all "Luck maxed out~"
I said as much on Jans video but it's no surprise how quick you were to learn and adapt. Even back in 2015, you had a lot of experience from your Hardcores that you were pretty good at adapting to situations
I was in the live stream it was awesome your the best pbg
2:29 was startled to see my name on the VOD! Thanks for giving us all a Peebception. 😀
10:11 this part is so wholesome to me
the first encounter i ever had with your channel was when i was like 6 i think and i saw your putt putt videos while like on my mom's computer and it like made me think the series of games was called "peanut butter" or something and i kept asking my dad to download the game with "the car named peanut butter" for me and he couldn't find it and it made me angry
and then when i was like 8 i remember watching the charlie church mouse video like in my grandparents backyard but i don't think i knew i had seen your videos before at the time
i really love your videos my favorite ones are the arthur ones
I am proud to say that I have a shiny Zigzagoon named Zigzam.
Love peebs energy, new and old
i remember being super invested in this nuzlocke when i was a kid and seeing it again after all these years was both nostalgic and hilarious lmaoooo
Something that I think about when watching a reaction to a reaction is the original reactor reacting to the second reaction and then just a loop starts and it always gets a chuckle out of me
I watched the original when it first came out haha
