Hello my dear friends🙂 In this episode I started lifting heavy logs using a system I saw on Erik Grankvist's channel. Erik is a great inspiration for me. I've made two more rows of logs since the last episode so a total of 8 rows of logs are done and I still have another 4-5 rows of logs to go. In the small house, I moved the bed down because it was too warm upstairs. In the next episode I will be building the front porch on the small dock and continuing on the walls of the main cabin. Thank you all for the positive comments. I appreciate it very much. I would also appreciate a lot if you can support my channel by subscribing! If you want additional information for the video, you can turn on optional subtitles in the video. Hello friends. I come from Vietnam. I am a 24 year old girl. I just left the city to return to the countryside where I was born. I'm starting to shoot videos about life where I live. I hope to receive everyone's support. Thank you very much❤
Hi Matthias, It's good to see that you have moved from inspiration to action! Inspiration is a God send and you must grab it whenever it appears. Looks great and I was shocked the system for lifting those huge logs. Did you have the logs delivered? Keep going.
This is the finest and most precise log cabin build I’ve seen on video since Dick Proenekke filmed himself building his. Your cabin will stand for decades, maybe even a century or more.
I'm a 65 y.o. retired Carpenter. I didn't have many guys that worked as hard as this kid. He's got very good skills and knows how to NOT get hurt. I finished off my career in Alaska where we worked 10-12 hrs. a day 7 days a week. Big bucks if you could handle it. I did it for 6 years straight until my back wouldn't let me do it anymore. This guy will be a boss in a few years if he sticks with this work. Way to go kid!!
Matthias you are a hard worker, and not afraid to give credit where it due for Erik's channel inspiring you!! I think my grandfather did this when he was your age!! I am 67 and living in Phoenix, Arizona, I remodeled every room in my house with help, you seem to be doing fine on your own, but please take care of the back, otherwise when you get my age you will cursing at yourself for not!! Now when you get done you will have the satisfaction of having built your cabin with little or no help other than your Dad hauling materials for you!!! I did not build my home, but treating it with tender loving care. Please make sure you tell your Dad you Love him along with any other family members that is priceless!!! God bless you!
The person that wins this young man’s heart is gonna have a person they can be so proud of as he is gonna be an awesome husband. He’s not afraid of work and he is so very good at it. I wish everyone had his desire to work hard for what they want in life.
Stamina, strength and skill. But you are only one person, and the back is fragile. Pace yourself. And don't be afraid to ask for lift help. You've already earned our respect.
You are going to have big strong arms when your done with your home. That is very hard work to be doing it alone.Sending you strength, it will be so worth it.
Your meals always look filling and healthy keeping up your strength for the physically challenging work ahead . Cabin meal chronicles could be a winner ?;)
This is such an amazing journey of building a log cavin!!! Thank you for bringing us along!!! Your workmanship is AWESOME!!!!! Keep up the good work!!!!
You are doing much better than some older men building a home. No gaps between the logs. Just keep up the good work. When you are finished you will be so proud of your accomplishments. God Bless you ❤❤❤❤❤
I'm a guy with no skills who loves these kind of videos, but to my untrained eye your technique and skills of building a log cabin seems superior to what I usually see on YT. Very impressive!
Smart way to get the logs up and over to where you need them.... The higher you go the more harder it becomes. You shall persevere!! Look forward to seeing how you accomplish it.
Thanks for sharing an awesome video on your cabin build. I like your hand tools as you don't see many people using plain and simple tools- Back to Basics. You're a great carpenter and I will be anxious to see your cabin when you complete the build
Matthias on average how many logs can you coplette in one day. When you first built your bed my thought was thats going to be hot up there guess i was right lol Being Canadian I was happy to see your scribe tool was made in Canada. You are doing a awesome job young man. I have watched all of Eriks videos he is also a very talented young man
The hewing itself only takes half a day so I am able to hew two logs in one day. This is also the way I work - I'm working on two logs at the same time. But it is necessary to take into account that there is still a lot of other work before this: choosing the right log, the second peeling, scribing, measuring, setting up, constant calibration of the scriber. Later, I treat the logs, drill holes, add moss... And I also film all of that, which also takes a lot of time. In the end, it turns out that I manage to make roughly 2 logs in six days, so 2 whole rows in about 3 weeks. Even if it takes longer, I still enjoy it a lot and I'm happy to share it with you :)
Milovaný Matýsku, sleduji tvoje video a moc tě obdivuju a taky se o tebe bojím. Přeji ti hodně štěstí a opatruj si zdraví. Mám tě tuze ráda, babička Evička ❤️🇨🇿
I love the fact you are using hand tools for this whole project, your skills are incredible!!! I can’t wait to see the finished result!!! I’m sure it will be outstanding!!! Take care and keep on working hard, the results will be amazing!!!!❤😊😊
It's coming along...Looks good. Man thats a lot of work. Thought: You might want to get a thicker rope to lift the legs. Not because of strength but for comfort of your hands, right? The thicker rope won't cut into your hands as much. Just a thought. 👍👍
Have you ever thought of reaching out to Erik? you could do some work on his house then invite him to Croatia to work on yours, that would be fun to see😂
It’s a lot fun watching you and learning how you are building your cabin. Living your dream and fulfilling it is a hell of a challenge. Keep up the effort and take time to enjoy your surroundings.
Hello from NZ. Your log-fitting is superb; and all your work is amazing! I have built two houses myself, and know what a challenge it is. There is a lot more to it than putting logs together. There are tools to keep sharpened (and you seem to do an excellent job of that); and the log trimming takes much more than the two or so minutes that we see. You have to feed yourself to keep up your strength, which you also seem to do quite well; and then you have to contend with the inclement weather. You have Someone watching over you. You are blessed.
I think it’s Awesome that you were building your own home and with handtools that is like so great and you’re doing such a great job I’m quite sure your parents are very, very proud
Magnifico trabajo, y solo con herramientas manuales que tiene mucho mérito. De lo mejor que he visto. Cada vez que te veo te doy un "like" porque no puedo darte mas.
Matthias, It’s taking shape and looking so good. Using the new method of raising the logs is a great idea, but I saw you had your hands full with a couple of logs that didn’t want to cooperate. You stuck with it and got them up, good going. I noticed that the tool (scriber?) you use is made in my country, Canada. I hope it works well for you. I’ll be waiting to watch the next video, stay safe.
Remarkable how you have the skills and craftsmanship to build and live off the grid - lately the idea has been appealing to me but more so in my native way if you know what I mean? Good work 💯
You are a hard worker and very dedicated to your dream. The log home is coming along nicely. You can bet your father is very proud of you. Stay safe. I love watching your progress!
I am a retired log builder. I appreciate your determination and skill, but you could cut your risk of injury and increase your productivity immensely with power tools. My first cabin was very similar in size and scope. I set up a gin pole to lift logs overhead to and from a safe workspace. The gin pole uses worm drive cable winches, one for the boom, a second for the load. The winches can be hand cranked or powered with a driver chucked in a big drill, the same drill used for boring. All this can be powered with a quiet Honda generator. A chainsaw set up for log building and proper technique will increase quality and productivity tenfold. Including the scribing I can fit a 30’ log in an hour as tight as Tupperware. If nothing else look into the gin pole, it will set you free!
Suggestion- run the parbuckle line from the anchor point st on end, up over the wall, down round that end of the log, up to you, then back down around the other end of the log, back up over the other end of the wall, and down to an anchor point at that end. Then pull from the centreof the line. Rig a two to one purchase to the parbuckle line if you need to..
Bravo Matthias! Your work is amazing. Je suis Québécois et j’aime beaucoup suivre tes vidéos. Bonne continuation! Ta grande maison en rondins sera formidable! 🛠️🧰🪚 Et vive la Croatie! 🇭🇷
It is fascinating to watch your cabin and little house come together . Your meticulous way of building will ensure a high quality end result that will endure . May the finished product bring you and your future family much joy !

New subscriber here from the Philippines me and my Dad found your channel for a month now! and it became our night time routine to watch your videos before bedtime. Pls don’t stop your channel I remember the vlogger that doing this for more than 5 years and he hits a million subscriber now. 🤍✨
Watching a craftsmen work is quite in mesmerising! Tell me does the moss chinking shrink back as it dries out? You don’t seem to mind working outside in all weathers, you certainly had plenty of wet weather to contend with in this episode. It’s quite amazing just how inventive you are when it comes to moving the logs from their original pile, as the saying goes “ necessity is the mother of invention “ certainly the case here! Hopefully the weather will be kinder to you in the next video. Less rain and not too warm as it’s such physical work.❤
Good job on the Cabin Matthias, I like the way you got the Logs up although I did smile when that 1 Log didnt want to play, lol keep up the good work & look forward to your next Video 👍

I love you left in the storms- I’m lost for words for the great job you are doing and how hard you work
This young man surely has a good appetite! Absolutely understandable with the heavy labour in the open.
Can hardly wait to see it to finish.
Hard work, right , but , undoubtedly, but , definitely, the end result, is far beyond description. Thanks.
Nice work
That is going to be an awesome cabin when you get her finished and the you can say you built it from scratch. Amazing!!! Cheers from here in Manitoba.
I am impressed you work in the rain.
