I really wish they delved deeper into the story of the big 3 fish during Umbrella's early years. James Marcus Edward Ashford Ozzy Spencer Like how they were with eachother and how their interests clashed. This should have been the focus of the story after Weskers death.
I agree with you 100%. They made Resident Evil 4 in which Umbrella no longer exists. But looking back at it, we don't know much about it's founding fathers.
Personally I didn't mind the direction in RE4. I felt like it COULD have gone somewhere pretty epic, A bloody 'cold war' of bio-weapons between Wesker and Spencer with our past heros caught in the middle as they fight to find and bring them both down once and for all before their 'game' brings the world to it's knees. Kind of like what they did in 5 only...not shit.

They been kinda doing that, drop feeding bits of Umbrella's downfall, RE6 explored the relation between the government and Umbrella during Raccoon City incident, Alex Wesker's plan was revealed in Revelations 2, VILLAGE we learn about Spencer early years and his old teacher, The Connections are, well connected to Umbrella since their foundation. Researcher Brandon Bradley was James Marcus protege and he founded the syndicate. its interesting.

Just reached the chapter in which he sings in the novel Zero Hour (novelization of the game Resident Evil Zero). I had forgotten Marcus sang in the game so I had to check, as the novel describes the lullaby.

It was he that spread the virus through the mansion and is the cause of RE1....... In all honesty in all other circumstance James Marcus would have been a great ally since he wanted take down Umbrella just as much as the heroes, would be an awesome team up

He may have been pretty set on taking them down through more so improper methods, such as by using the T-virus to expose them, but they could have at least tried to reason with him first. After all, what better ally to help you take down an organization than someone that not only worked for them, but was also the founder of the company! He would have had access to so much information that could have helped the protagonists, especially in regard to Spencer himself. It would have been such a cool plotline of villain-turned-hero, it's really a shame they didn't go with it.

Marcus being an Umbrella founder and the story of him being betrayed by Wesker and William was fine but the whole "queen leech absorbs Marcus's memories, can shapeshift into him as both a young and old man and wants to destroy the world" was stupid. The other viruses can do many things but at least there's explanations for how they work. A mutated leech somehow gaining human intelligence and planning a genocide is pushing it.

I'm not 100% sure but I'm pretty sure that female voice Marcus sings with is the Leech Queen's true voice. The male one belonged to Dr. Spencer, I think I spelled the names right.

Cant quite explain but between the unidentifiable person on a hill and the music I thought he was a crazy/evil B.O.W. in the form of a beautiful woman...in time of playing I proved myself to be...right... but all and all james' singing is superb.
When you played this when you were younger and see it again and you realize this James Marcus in the screenshot ended up as that baldish codger with the croaky voice. Even video game characters aren't immune to time's unwanted makeovers, it seems.

Marcus being an Umbrella founder and the story of him being betrayed by Wesker and William was fine but the whole "queen leech absorbs Marcus's memories, can shapeshift into him as both a young and old man and wants to destroy the world" was stupid. The other viruses can do many things but at least there's explanations for how they work. A mutated leech somehow gaining human intelligence and planning a genocide is pushing it.
You are talking about a franchise With a Gigantic Vampire Lady and her daughter that are nothing But a swarm of living Flys and also a franchise where youre Main Character can Survive almost everything like Jill that Survived in the Remake a Explosion from Nemesis Rocket Launcher or the fact that Ethan can put his hand back on without much Problems, i dont See the Problem by The Queen Leech also that the queen Leech was able to absorb Marcus body and his brain and become a Hybrid is Not something very special if You just Look creatures in Resident evil like the U-3,U-8, Chimeras, novistator, Hunter, Plague Crawler and the varcolacc and since she was infected With the T Virus, a very dangerous Virus that Umbrella used to create Hybrids like Plague Crawler, Chimeras and Hunter, for me it makes a lot of sense and let a lot of Things open for speculation
