- My first N163 video!
But I don't use any interesting waves.
This cover is slower than normal because that is how it is heard straight from the USF, and I prefer it at this speed.
Now that the speed function has showed up again, I can set it to 1.25 to easily listen to a 'last lap' version. Yay~
Okay. I'm amazed.
Especially with the twinkle effects. Those are beautiful beyond belief.
I always use the Namco 163 chip. I just find it offers the most versatility as far as custom waves and effects. Plus, it lets you have a triangle wave with adjustable volume, which is awesome. Sometimes things get a bit distorted if you have too much going on at once and don't make use of the occasional arpeggio, but those problems generally sort themselves out when you export the finished song to .mp3 or .wav or whatever.
How is it that you're capable of choosing songs that have lied dormant in my head only to awaken a few days before you come out with a rendition? I've been listening to this song all week... and here you are, making it that much more awesome.
Flashback!!!!
One of the few games I played to death, with rainbow road being my favorite level!!!
You just made my day! ^_^
どうもありがとうございます!!!
This musical track made you not actually mind that the race track itself was hella long.
Dude, I literally almost cried! This cover is amazing! :D
I miss a NSF / mp3 version here. So beautiful!
Good shit with the twinkle effect, really impressed with this.
This sounds good for a NES cover.
8bitdanooct1 has a Famitracker tutorial on his channel you can watch. It'll explain all the fundamentals. I believe he covers expansion chips as well.
Really beautiful. I love your remixes. Ima subscribe.
I whistled along with this.
I Think it's better than the Original ! Ahah just Awesome man ! Good Work !
Just superb. I'm speechless.
gorgeous! n106 seems to suit you very well, my friend.
N163 really suits this song. Great work!
I can't wait till someone tries to make the 8-bit version of MK7's Rainbow Road.
I'm going to play this game from now on. Thanks for the idea.
OMG! The nostalgia :')
¡Oh por Dios! La nostalgia :')
As the patterns are scrolling, it looks like you are playing Ski Free with the mouse cursor. I don't know why I thought of that though.
OKAY! THIS IS EPIC!
Okay, somehow, I'm seeing this game as an 8-bit successor to Mario 3 on the old NES, that's how you know you got a good re-mix.
I can only wonder what the FZX arrangement would be like on the N163.
I do. Mostly using 16-bit and 32-bit samples. But it's unlikely that I'll ever upload any originals to this channel.
I love this theme! :D
Nice work!
Carl's technically right in that 0.3.8 is the latest release, but it's a beta release, and it's only available on the forums. 0.3.7 is the latest public release.
And the people were filled with mirth!
This is amazing!!!
Also how did you get that version of famitracker? I thought it wasn't finished yet.
You should call this series of videos NES64
I Love That Song.... =,)
You do some great demakes coatlesscarl. Do you do any original songs by chance?
Christ, how many effect channels do you need?!??!?
bravo
1:18
Hah, you lost.
Nicely done. You should really do Wii's Rainbow Road. =O
This sounds a whole lot like Mario Kart 7's version of Rainbow Road. I'm going to assume that that was Nintendo's goal with Mario Kart 7's version.
Have you subscribed to Bulby? You should definitely check out his channel. He makes many different video game themes sound in 8-bit form.
Bulby is amazing; love his remixes.
***** ikr? They're awesome to hear!
0.38 is the latest version, I believe.
@metroidfannumber1 Namco 163
Imagine the framerate if this game went 8 bit...
Now it's Release 0.4.0! :D
How did you do that?
I am on the latest version, and the Namco chip isn't in it.
Mario Kart 64 ... On NES!
What kind of cartridge would be needed for this song? It doesn't seem like the NES itself could play all those channels.
*****
That may be true, but the music is in NES format.
TripDering It's a VRC6, for the Famicom. Technically a NES could play it with a workaround. Famicom had more sound channels.
***** I believe King of Kings on the Famicom used a particular version of this chip. This is known as N163, N106, but there are a few variations of this sound chip. I want to say many arcade machines used this as well, as you can tell from the many different channels used.
This isn't even the tip of the capabilities of this Namco chip. Vinyl Cheese has proven that this chip is good at half-competent SNES remixes(they're not true SNES remixes because they sound more like the GBA)
@coatlesscarl Do Mario Kart Eight - 8 bit remix N64 Rainbow Road Remake please? #N64RainbowRoadRemake #MarioKartEight #DontuseanarrowwhileplayingaMariokarteightN64RainbowRoadremake
2019 ;w;???
Dire dire docks
More 16 than 8 bit
Like Amiga 16-bit or SNES 16-bit?
It's entirely "8-bit". Do some research. An NES can play this.
***** Yeah I realized how my comment was stupid but a while long ago and that It does sounds 8 bit
