All over British Columbia, museums and heritage sites will be celebrating this year’s theme, "Layer by Layer" by exploring what is unique about their community and sharing new pieces of information.
Last year we celebrated the 100th anniversary of Mill No. 3, but believe it or not, that isn’t the oldest building on site!
Welcome to the Machine Shop.
Parts of this building were built all the way back in 1908! That means this building has seen the operation of Mill No. 1, 2, and 3!
So many important things happened in this building. For the majority of the mine’s history, we were a very isolated community so it was important for equipment to be made and repaired on site. Tools were made, horses were shod, and equipment was repaired.
