    You Nailed it Cam on the spring settings. I have been playing Yamaha pedals for 30years with the spring tension set just tight enough to return the beater properly. The latest Yamaha Direct Drives make the spring tension even more precise and controllable.

    Thanks again! I didn't even realize that my feet were too far back, because it felt like I could move less and go faster, but then I had fatigue pretty quickly.

    I started drumming a little over a year ago and I walk around all day long wondering if my throne is too low, if my feet are correctly positioned, if my posture is correct, and your videos are answering them all! Thanks again man. This is by far the most in depth and useful drum page on youtube. Thanks again bro.

      Bro I 100% have the same problem, regardless of how much tinkering I do on my kit I still don't feel that it's optimal or the best feeling setup. Some nights I don't even end up playing cuz I just keep fucking with everything and adjusting for hours

    Thanks Cameron for the tip of placing your feet on the double pedal I was struggling a bit with my feet on mine now I’ll remember that.

    Thank you! I'm pretty new to drums and been trying to figure out the best foot position for my double kick. That made a lot of sense.

    Hey Cam, appreciate your video and time. I play with Speed Cobras and I’ve wondered if I should be playing further up than I do, like James Payne does. Your explanation was good and I’ll certainly be looking at what I am doing. Thanks again.

    My friend recorded me practicing on her drum kit and found out that I needed find the perfect balance and so I practiced and found the sweet spot and not burn out so fast with my left foot because my left leg can tire out fast.
    But I'm practicing to make my leg endurance better so far so good.

    Oh my goodness! I loosened my tension springs and tightened my bass head, then I put on these rubber ball beaters from kat! What a difference!

    Nicely done presentation bro ... on thing to add is about the spring tension ... need to need loose enough not to burn your feet but also way tight to follow your feet, for Iron cobras I play the sweet spot is one inch approx from the stopper or your toes to be somehow above the logo ...

    • @CameronFleury
      @CameronFleury  3 года назад

      Thanks for the tips! For anyone who plays iron cobras, be sure to read this comment!

      Interesting take, what size shoes do you wear and technique do you use for faster doubles work? I ask bcus i have a decent sized foot and i removed that stopper to get my foot to wear its most comfortable when im playing anything that doesnt need to be super fast.

    • @StamatisKekes
      @StamatisKekes 2 года назад

      @@CaffeineFreak13 imagine the pedal cycle of movement like a real circle ... in that circle also your feet are into as the engine ... the slower you play the bigger is the travel the faster you go the shorter is the travel distance, so your foot in the footboard need to be adjusted to be not in the stopper but in the iron cobra pedal your tip toe must align with the logo upper edge in your foot board ... with the speed cobras this is close to the middle of the footboard ...

    My civil and respectful comments is the bass drum pedal it’s self (as a concept) is a hodgepodge of haphazard ideas we’ve inherited and no none wants to bring anything new forward. Why are we sitting with our legs extended and slouching? A bicycle offers a much better body position. Also, a smooth footboard can never provide precision or power ( it’s like walking on ice) Ask any violinist to throw away their bow rosin. Most sports have shoes or courts that offer a gripping effect for feet. The whole concept needs to be rethought and video’s like this would not be necessary, because it would be obvious how to play the bass drum pedal and probably much less frustrating to teach.
