it is a nice City with very helpful and friendly People.
It was a nice time there in April 2016 for me.
There are a lot of Hotels but it is a secret Place for Travellers from Europe because the most european People knew only Cities like Kolkata, Mumbai or Dehli and the most european People coming there especially for the Taj Mahal.
But Mizoram have also a lot of nice Places, interesting History and it is a very nice to enjoy the Life there. Only the Traffic is a new experience in Aizawl specially of the small streets and so many Motorcycles on the streets.
    I will visit it again.

Mizoram is thousand times well cultured state than any other states of India way far advanced though the state is still backward with infrastructure. Citizen's very polite, women are cool, mindset of the people are appreciated. God bless MIZORAM in GOD we Trust. Amen.

Mizoram, the lesser known North-Eastern state of India is inhabited by various tribes who practise a wide range of religious customs and cultural splendour. Blessed with a diverse range of geographical features, this small state brings excellent opportunities of travelling over the small hillocks with winding trails where one can get the adventurous feel of mountain biking. The landscape of Phawngpui Hills, Vantawang Falls or even Palak Lake looks incredibly picturesque whereas the heritage sites at Chhingpui talk about the forgotten past of the Mizo life. Typical food habit, dance forms, attires, and local music add zing to the overall cultural panorama of Mizoram and tend to be a great deal for any travel enthusiast who would love to taste offbeaten.

Historian believe that the Mizos are a part of the great wave of the great wave of the Mongolian race spilling over into the eastern and southern India centuries ago. Their sojourn in Western Burma, into which they eventually around seventh century, is estimated to last about two centuries. They came under the influence of the British Missionaries in the 9th century, and now most of the Mizos are Christians. One of the beneficial result of Missionary activities was the spread of education. The Missionaries introduced the Roman script for the Mizo language and formal education. The cumulative result is high percentage 95 % ( as per National Sample Survey 1997-98) which is considered to be highest in India. The Mizos area distinct community and the social unit was the village. Around it revolved the life of a Mizo. Mizo Village is usually set on the top of a hill with the chief's house at the centre and the bachelor’s dormitory called Zawlbuk, prominently . In a way the focal point in the village was the Zawlbuk where all young bachelors of the village slept. Zawlbuk was the training ground, and indeed, the cradle wherein the Mizo youth was shaped into a responsibility adult member of the society.

The term Mizo is derived from two Mizo words: mi and zo. Mi in Mizo means 'person'. The term zo is disputed. According to one view, zo means 'highland' and Mizo means highlander or person living in high hills.
Though the term Mizo is often used to name an overall ethnicity, it is an umbrella term to denote the various clans, such as the Hmar, Ralte, Lai, Lusei etc. A number of dialects are still spoken under the umbrella of Mizo; some of them are Mizo ṭawng(which is an official language of Mizoram), the Hmar languages, the Ralte language, the Paite languages, the Lai languages, and the Pang languages.

The mainland Indians understanding of being Indians
    1. Hindu Brahmins, first class citizens
    2. The untouchables, second class citizens
    3. Muslims, third class citizens
    4. Christians, fourth class citizens
    5. The Northeast tribal people (who happen to be Christians), fifth class citizens
During the Mizoram insurgent period (1966), the Indians were not scrupulous to deploy horrendous AIRSTRIKE ATTACK against Mizoram. Ask them why not attack the Moist/Naxite groups the same way you did to Mizoram, they will answer you, "No. They are our own people". How can we be so Indians when we get a step-mother treatment from the mainland Indians????

One advise to our Mizoram people - please make vlogs of your daily life, your culture, food-habits, tribes, history, etc. I am saying this because the hygienic lifestyles of Japanese and Koreans is loved by all and Indians consume such content from foreigners. But its a great thing that we have such people within India, and that is why we must produce amazing RUclips and Netflix content. This will also help us preserve our culture for long.

For those of you who used to get confused and write the name of the capital city as "Aizwal", it is "Aizawl" with the "a" before the "w", "Ai" the short form of "Aidu" a typical Zingiberaceae plant which used to grow in the area, "zawl" meaning an open land. So "Aizawl" literally means an open land where the Aidu are grown.

Mizoram people have very well utilised the merits of British rule. Also, Christianity has helped them quickly move towards Western level education, away from caste and insidious superstitions (Christianity does have superstitions but atleast not as harmful as some religions in India, you must move towards more scientific society). Non-vegetarian societies must especially beware of religions forcing vegetarian eating-habits like Hinduism. Our tribal culture matters a lot to us, that is our ancestral root and we can't forget them as other conservatives across India can't. My diverse India

Man, those few people who spoke their native tongue, they sound like the Yao group in China, aka dao in Vietnam, aka Mien in America. I’m not sure, but the language is very similar.

There was big political political map was hanging and I was astonished to see the map.....the state of Mizoram was missing.... Why ? Do bollywood depicts mizo culture in any of their movies ? Forget indian movies , Tv serials , shows ? How many mizo actors people are working in Bollywood , tv industry ? i hope you have got the answer .

Our culture is similar with Korean atleast in a small percentage than with indian. Family orientation, behaviour, social interactions, values etc. That's why Korean appeal to us more than Bollywood.
More than Chinese, Japanese or Korean we are still more closer with Burmese, Thai, Vietnamese etc. Our foods, culture, ethics, etc.

    Demography
Sandwiched between Burma to the east and south and Bangladesh to the west, the Indian State of Mizoram and its surrounding areas are inhabited by the Mizo people. According to Rev Liangkhaia, the clergyman and Mizo historian, in his book "Mizo Chanchin" - the first ever published historical account of the Mizo - the Mizo people migrated from China in around 750 AD and stayed in western Myanmar. They then slowly began migrating towards the present day Mizoram during the fourth decade of the 16th Century. Most of the Mizos and their clans had completely migrated to their present location by the third decade of the 18th century.
Mizo people were influenced by British missionaries in the 19th century, as the British Raj subjugated the chieftainship under its dominance, which they later abolished by an Act called the Assam-Lushai District (Acquisition of Chief's Rights) Act in 1954. The spread of education by Christian missionaries led to a high literacy rate of 91.58% by 2011. Almost all the Mizos also adopted Christianity, and continues to be so till the present day.
The Mizos speak various Mizo languages, such as Duhlian (Lushei), Gangte and Hmar, as well as other Kuki-Chin languages such as Pawi, Ralte, Pang, Paite, and Thado.

Always on the move to impose hindi upon non hindi speaking Indians, as if Hindi is our identity of nationality. Hindi is a regional language, mother tongue of UP, Bihari people. How come you expect all mizos to be able to speak hindi. At least almost all mizos can communicate in English, which UP, Biharis can't. Lol!

Yash Mandilwar sorry brother. I didn't mean to hurt anyone. I'm sorry, if you're hurt. I'm not against Hindi. Its not like I hate hindi. In fact I love Hindi. I sing so many Hindi songs but without proper accurate pronunciation. Here what I'm trying to say is that many times hindi speakers try to dominate over others. This is not right. You know, stop this. Every tribe and every language has its own right to flourish. In Mizoram nobody speaks Hindi. How can anyone expect them to speak in Hindi. Hindi belongs to UP, Bihari people which is 2000 km away. "One Nation, One Language. Hindi means Nationality." This theories are never gonna work.
