    I did it the other way around at the start. Union with the sphere/ box, then cut the top and bottom off the whole thing (like in the first step) with subtractive booleans. It avoided that messy geo and having to clean it up. Adding the challenge aspect at the start was a great idea for the video btw. Please do this more.

    Step one: rotate the sphere 90° to use the quads that are already there and avoid extra work. Step 2: thank Josh anyway, since he did it that way to prove a point that anything can be done. The other video with the igloo intersection was pretty sick.

    @5:30 I think it's better to just extrude the side of the dome, then flatten it and add detail. The use of boolean here creates in but g mess which needs to be cleaned. Where as when you extrude your topology is good or better vs the boolean method

  • @rodolflum3444
    @rodolflum3444 Год назад +2

    cutting using bisect tool eliminate the painful deleting of faces and putting it back again.. also you can do symmetrize using the sculpting mode. also did you know that you can delete the top portion of a live boolean and you can work inside without using Xray.

    Dude watching you work makes me want to throw my computer away. You're so good with Blender. I'm only on my 2nd year using it and I would give anything to be able to be 1/4th as good as you are. I've got some serious learning to do.

  • @21Liberdade
    @21Liberdade Год назад

    From a beginner's view, without having done the exercise yet, this looks like:
    - Half a sphere or a cyllinder with the front scaled in and then bevelled to create the bulge
    - The sides look like cubes that were union-ed onto the center piece. It has a chamfer on the front with 2 edges bevelled
    - The center of the main piece was likely cut with a cyllinder or the boxcutter circle cutter. The cut was likely a slice to create an independent piece
    - This piece was bevelled in the middle and then extruded out. The inner face of this extrusion was scalled in and the edges bevelled for that smooth transition
    - The bigger piecce has a chamfer that goes all the way around.
    This is what I observe. Now whether I can actually do it, that's a whole different thing ;)

    That offset cut seems pretty important to this task... the key to the smooth transition is getting quads around the whole edge but using a UV sphere for this to start leaves you with intermittent tri's.
    Also, gotta address your guy Ryuu. That's a rough look.

    Is there a way, without quad remesher, to get rid of those broken edges from the last beveling we did. Specifically around the outside edge chamfer that was affected by that bevel operation. I learned a lot from this by the way, so thank you!

    • @RomboutVersluijs

      Don't use booleans and use exting mesh to create the handles. The use of the boolean for the handles is bit need and make the mesh a mess.

    • @Spellbound_93
      @Spellbound_93 Год назад

      Hi! As someone who has used Maya, Max and now blender for a number of years each, blender is (in my opinion) the best when it comes to modelling provided you have the essential plugins. Otherwise its Max. Maya is still better when it comes to rendering and animation. Modelling has sadly been surpassed by the other two.

    After the recent information has come to light about Blenderbros and Ryuu treating people like shit and mocking learners to the point of telling them to F**k off, this will be the last video I watch.
    While Josh isnt the main cause of this, his silence on lettign Ryuu treat paying customer soo poorly means at best he is being nice but at worst Josh is supporting it!
    For those out of the loop google 'blender bros insulting customers' or something similar.
    Peace out.

      Josh seems to be a good guy. It's controversial at the moment but just look at the output from ryuu. He is a hard working guy. It takes all sorts of personalities in a really really complicated field. We are still in the early days of computer graphics and the doubts and frustrations come daily. He is an unusual guy but that is exciting. I will continue to watch all of their videos. I have been doing this for decades and I am still trying to work it all out. I disagree with loads of their methods but I see how much effort they have put in and I could well be wrong. We need discussion. Not cancellation. The blender community would be much weaker without these people.

      my incident with him is kinda my fault, but bassicaly my meshmachine was causing a lot of errors and was barely functional, i commented on his video and he actually replied back a few times, eventually we got into a discord conversation where he instructed me how to install it the right way. i tried everything he told me and it didnt work, eventually he asked me about which plugins i use, and i couldnt keep lying there so i just admitted to him that i pirated everything... 10 seconds later, im blocked and im banned from the server (in the server rules theres nothing about using pirated addons is bannable, but i dont mind). i tried to comment on his video again to get a response, nothing. i guess hes a kind of sponsor to those addons so hes not allowed to condone the use of pirated versions, which is funny, cause after i tried his method for a second time, it actually works and the pirated meshmachine actually functionally works, i tricked him into helping me fix a pirated version.. i have no regrets, i am not mad at anyone, im still gona continue watching both guys videos and live like it didnt happened, just without the discord...
      other than what happened there, he seems like a very nice and helping guy. he helps alot of people in the servers, jokes with them and has a good time, and you are right, he does occasionaly send a "fuck off" too, but nothing worth cancelling him. like i said, ill continue watching his videos and following them.

      Those reddit users are really the worst persons ever. Ryu replied harshly against someone and they attacked him in 3.000, telling him incel, andrew tate vibes (which is btw in house arrest for potential st), they said he moved to Japan because women are weaker and submissive (so they say racist to someone else and meanwhile make the most ignorant comments ever about another culture and people from another race, great), etc. They even considered his motivational speech "don't waste time with women or getting drunk at the pub, be 100% focused on blender" like some toxic masculinity attitude. I'm really tired of this shit, everything is political now, even "work hard, don't waste time" became toxic in modern society. Ryu replied to my comments a lot of times, always in a gentle way, he has a no bs attitude and I really like it. He's also a good teacher, but if u wanna follow him you must put on the work. And I totally agree with him, you bought a course, not a geisha. If you bombard him with questions you can search on google in 3 seconds you are wasting his time.

      @@realbloxy You were blocked from the server because you are using pirated software mate, we do not support it at all. I went ahead and tried to help you solve your issue on discord, using my private time (and all was peachy until I found out you were using hacked hopscutter). So, mend your ways and get back to me once you do. I will help you once you show some respect for those who provide incredible content for only $37, which will save you 1000s of hours of your life. Think about it. (I respect the fact that you recognized it was your fault, though) Guys, I am gonna put it plain and simple. I am direct, blunt and demanding, that is me. It ain't changing. I am very demanding towards myself, and consequently also towards others. If I see a potential in you, a will to do better, improve and general get-up-and go spirit, I will support and help you. But if someone is lazy, entitled and cant be bothered to rewatch a video once or twice to understand a topic, then I am not wasting my time on them. I want to move forward, learn and stay challenged. If you are like that too we will get along well. We all have troubles and issues in life, run into bumps and hills. It is a part of life. But the trick is that one group will sit down, and complain about their situation, and waste their energy on finding similar people. And all that it will achieve is a pat on a back from a useless bunch. Then again, some of us try to get up and find a solution. If something stops you doing things or progressing, it is up to YOU to find a solution. I have zero respect for whiners. I want to provide value and offer my time only to those who wanna push forward. My advice to the redit club: If you want to achieve anything in life here is the secret - find people with drive and ambition, people BETTER than you and hungry for knowledge, those who respect time and have a will to chase value, and not cheap thrills. If you surround yourself with 5 muppets who do nothing else but eat pizza, smoke pot and play computer games while delving into gossip, guess what - you will become the 6th. And lastly, I follow people I connect with and do not bother with those I could not care less about. There is plenty of content on YT, so follow whomever tickles your fancy, and stop wasting energy on pointless drama. Hope all is clear now.
