    I have to admit, I've been pretty attracted to the Monster series for quite a while.

    Just as they came out, I wanted one desperatly. I found it so incredibly beatifull, and the most desireble bike in the world. I had a picture on my fridge, just to make me do what ever I could, to get one. Untill I had the chanse to sit on one... It was just so SMALL! Or, perhaps, I was to big. We realy didn´t fit, but I still have that feeling when I see one. And the old ones are the best...

    The new monster doesn't look monster enough but it handles and performed better than 821 and 1200 models . And that's why it is forgiven. But i love these old OG air-oil cooled monsters even the 797 which was pegged as a beginner bike in their line-up. I hope they can make a monster out of the 698 mono engine and frame in the future. That would be diabolical for a entry level bike❤💥😌😎🤌.

      had a ride following an old Monster and the 600 mono (i refuse to call it a 698, its not lol) the mono took off like a rocket but did seem to run out of steam a bit beside the Vstrom and Monster but i dont know how many miles he had done so he might have been being gently

    A fancy Yamaha XJ 1300 with maybe some more frame stiffness and grunt but also some serious reliability issues….

    • @barebonesmc
      @barebonesmc  9 месяцев назад +1

      quite a lot lighter than the XJ i think 🙂

    • @pmwaffle9348
      @pmwaffle9348 3 месяца назад +1

      70-80lbs lighter and no reliability issues except on the non-rs s4 models because it uses the 996 engine

      Indeed they have..They forget reliability, affordability and simplicity and build unreliable over-priced , over-complex yet beautiful machines that pamper the ego and the soul..at least when they are not having extortionate maintenance and repairs 🙈. I have one, and whilst it is bloody Brilliant it's also a complete money-pit and whilst I love it, I also hate it for all that over-complex nonsense and it will be my first and last Ducati so I look at all the Ducati's and think "Oh -Yes that's beautiful", closely followed by " No-Way Hosé!! 🙈🙈

      @@barebonesmc that's so true..one dream is another's nightmare.. I was getting all wide eyed and excited over a Suzuki SB200 with AllSpeed pipes on eBay earlier..lovely 🤣. Love your Videos..they have an air of Authority that only comes from a lifetime being around bikes..same for me but I'm a grumpy old "stick in the mud" these days but secretly I love everything with 2 wheels and an engine somewhere in/on/in-between! Keep up the great work!

    I have a M900 in the garage I haven't ridden for a couple of years through age (mine not the bike) It's great on the open road, sounds gorgeous apart from the clutch when standing still, is awful in town, looks great, I think, and has been very reliable for the past 15 years.

    I don't get what people like about dry clutches.... Sounds like the engine is broken.
    I prefere a wet clutch on a Ducati

    Basically, just built a nice streetfighter out of an existing sports bike. Nothing original there though, we were all doing that in the 90s, only we used to crash them first 😂🤣😂
