2 years after and people (me) are benefiting from your tutoring. I couldn’t really appreciate the photopills guy because his accent is too strong for me to understand so I’m thrilled to find your site. Thanks!
Yep, that's REALLY TRUE. I speak 3 languages, two practically natively, and one of those is spanish. I coundn't understand A THING. The app is great, but damn is hard to understand the guy.
I'm re-watching your excellent series of PhotoPills tutorials Brenda as I am preparing for my next trip to my favorite spot in the Austrian Alps. A big thank you again and wishing you all the best.
Hi Brenda, Thank you very much for simplifying the rather complicated, (to me at least), PhotoPills app and its menus and tools. Now I have an understanding of knowing what to do while using PhotoPills. 👍
Hi Brenda. I have been going through my RUclips subscriptions to reduce the number. I was just thinking that I hadn't seen very many videos of yours lately. I wanted to include yours. Then I ran across your PhotoPills tutorials. I know some basics but that is about it. I did use it to prepare for the full moon this month. I look forward to going through your tutorials. Thank you.
I'm so glad I made the cut! :) I plan to make more landscape tutorials in the future. Right now with the restrictions in place (and a foot injury), I'm not doing a lot of photography in the field, so I've been focusing on tutorials that I can create from my office. I'm itching to get back out, though!
I just purchased PhotoPills. I used it recently to capture the recent full moon over the mountains. But there are a lot of options and features that I don't know. Given that I am pretty much stuck at home (I am in the 60+ category). I am going to go through your tutorials on PhotoPills. I look forward to each one. I hope your foot is healing. Thank you for the tutorials.
Yes I was (when I bought it) well I'm not like an expert now but I have a better idea! 1:51 Wow I didn't know! 😮 Night AR tool great I gonna use it and I need to practice more time lapse photography I will add them to my widget menu. Thanks for the video. Stay safe you and your family!😃
Thank you Brenda. I look at PhotoPills and although amazing at what it can do, I just look at bit and think “whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?!!?!!!” Thank you for doing this series.. looking forward to the up coming videos😊 x
Thank you, Brenda. Great course. Eye opening. Do you have any advice on how to clear the planner of the loaded plan, so we could see the map with todays date? Thanks
You are a great teacher. Your calm, organized manner makes it easy to follow along and learn. I had downloaded the user manual. But, oh my, 250 plus pages was daunting and boring. Your videos make the PhotoPills app understandable which means I will be able to use it with ease. Thank you.
I had this app on my Android phone for over a year but didn't realize the power of the app. Thanks for the intro video. Looking forward for your next video.
Hi Brenda, I love my PHOTOPILLS, purchased a couple years ago. Absolutely a very useful app. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and know how, I certainly appreciate the time you take to take to do this. Stay safe, God bless
Thanks -this is a much needed series. I love Photopills. Fortunately, having spent time living aboard and blue water sailing, navigating by celestial navigation has made Photopills simple for me to understand. It is not so simple, if you don't understand the way the Solar System and Galaxy work,. Your videos are very valuable to fill this gap.
Talking to Martha this morning and she told me you were doing these videos! I am so stoked to learn more about PhotoPills and to have you as the teacher. Thank you. Be safe.
Thanks for taking the time to do this guide for dummies. I certaily qualify for that category. I had to pause the video to research online where to find widgets on my phone! I need to get out and use my camera more. It cost me £700 about three years ago and i use it so infrequently it's like the first time every time i use it. I subscribed to Photopills over a year ago and despite installing the app on my phone, following this video is probably the second time i've opened the app. I've subscribed and liked
I just started watching your great PhotoPills series. Thank you very much for the great instructional videos, which are very beneficial and helpful. Good job.
Hi Brenda, love your content, much info that helps lot's of people. Question: I there a safe download for Photopills to be used on a Mac desktop? Thanks, Doug
Thanks so much for this! I've had PhotoPills for a long time, but have only used it a handful of times. I'm excited to learn how to use this fabulous tool!
Brilliant start to the PhotoPills tutorial! I was getting quite excited waiting here in the UK and I watched it with a big smile on! Really nicely put across and looking forward to your next video thank you!
Thank you so much for creating this series! Just getting started, with PhotoPills, but not intuitive and brain-heavy! In just your first four episodes, I’ve gathered a greater understanding of the planner, than I would have in weeks on my own!
Thanks Brenda for doing this series. I love using PhotoPills and trying to get better at using all the features. Please continue doing these. I’m not a professional photographer like you, but am enjoying this new hobby. Thanks again!
Brenda, you're amazing for taking on this task. Thank you. I've had PhotoPills on my iPhone for a while now, and while I've figured out some of its feature set, there is so much that I still find intimidating. I look forward to sharing this journey with you.
Just downloaded the PP app and started looking for help immediately as it looks very intimidating. Found your channel on here and have already picked up on several items, including how to add widgets to my I-phone LOL! Really like your teaching style, and am now a new subscriber. Thanks for taking the time to help others.
It's a little eerie, Brenda, that you know so much about me and Photo Pills! I'm thrilled that you are starting this series. I try to understand the developer, but just get lost. Since you're one of my favorite teachers, I know that I'll be able to start using Photo Pills for more than just saying, "Yeah, I got that app...........don't all good photographers have it?".
Love the PhotoPills app, but after watching one of your Milky Way videos, I realized just how much more there is to the app. Can’t wait to see what else I was unaware of
Looking forward to this series. Thanks for doing it. I used PhotoPills to plan the capture of the rising super-moon over a bridge in my city, a couple of months ago. I spent a lot of time trying to figure it out I eventually got it but it took a lot of work as the app is not very intuitive. I wish I had expended as much effort into the actual shot as the photo quality of the shot was mediocre. Hi Peter - yes! PhotoPills can be used anywhere in the world. And some functions are available offline as well. A compass is a good idea - I have one on my iphone that works well. If I'm going to be in the backcountry and don't want to use my phone, then I carry a magnetic compass.
This is a well done video that I come back to now and then. But the problem is that every time I pull out PhotoPills I have to watch another video to remember how to use it, similar to DaVinci Resolve, etc. I think PhotoPills is too hard to use and not at all intuitive. It would be easier to spend a few more minutes in Google Earth since I need to use that software anyway.
Hi Brenda , Thanks for so many amazing videos . I need one clarification . When you are in photo pills app , on Hyper focal distance , augmented reality , how you hold your mobile ? vertical or horizontal . Titling the mobile , the semicircle showing DOF or Hyper focal distance appears changing .

The widget placement is soooooo handy I can't than you enough for the idea. I use an Android phone but that's no difference from an iPhone in term of the widget concept.
Brenda, thanks for a great series. I just got Photopills and am working my way thru all of the episodes. I may have missed one thing. If I am planning a shot in the planner for a location other than my current location and then I want to quickly go back to my current location in the planner, is there an easy way to do that without inputting the address or coordinates? Thanks again.
Photopills is such a complex app that I don't think you can watch too many videos - hopefully something will sink after lots of repetition! Brenda, I have enabled an overlay which shows up when I'm in planner view on the map. When I am in sunset/sunrise times (hours) a orange hue covers my map and during night time hours it goes dark with a blue hue - do you know how to turn this off?
Hi Jane! Yes... Tap the Map Settings button, next to the (+) map button. And turn off the Twilight map layer. Just tap on the eye icon next to the layer to switch if off. You can also do it by tapping the button on panel number 5 (above the map). It's the one showing the Civi, Nautical and Astronomical twilight times ;)

Hello
I did the exercise again, I placed the red pin and the black pin. In panel 2 I have distance 2.4km azimuth 299.8° and altitude difference 0m/-0.01°. I put the black pin on the torch (it's not the height of the torch, but the terrain) and the red pin on the small pontoon. The two pins give me an altitude of 0m which unless I'm mistaken is not logical. Can you help me?
Thank you
