Also late but that does have a lot of credence when you add lore from later games into it. If I'm not mistaken, Kirby Star Allies hints that Zero and Dark Matter are the results of a Void Termina absorbing vast amounts of negative emotions. They're literally born of sorrow and hate and can only spread that. Conversely, It's also vaguely hinted that filling one with positive emotion results in a creature like Kirby. It’s kind of a letdown that everything about this boss is amazing except the gameplay. It’s still one of my favorite final bosses in Kirby but man…if only…
Literally, the ONLY thing I dislike about this boss is how easy it is. I don’t always mind easy final bosses- it just depends on the context of the game. But for 02, him only having like two attacks is a bit of a letdown. Thankfully the music, visuals, story significance, and overall spectacle make up for all of that
It sounds so tragic and melancholic, which makes sense considering zero two is unable to feel any positive emotions, so it just travels around the universe looking for people to possess so others can feel his pain.
director: its game about a pink having adventures, what we are going to put as final boss? an employee that lives in the garbage: what about a circular monstrous angel that suffer of haemolacria director: you are genious
It took me a while to figure out this was the defeated boss from KDL 3, but reborn, when the music went from cheery to dismal and now to this, I knew that this was the true final boss.
How I would've made this boss battle; First part'd be the same. Once he's stunned you'd attack the wings. Unlike now, however, the wings'd be able to shoot out blood feathers, or something.. It could attack you. Once the first wing is done he's unstunned. Stun him again, get the second wing. Upon both wings breaking he's still stunned, and you'd attack the halo as both wings slowly reform. The halo'd be able to attack somehow. (Dark Matters rushing in to protect?) His new "angelic" powers gone he'd resort to his attacks from Dreamland 3. Mainly opening the slits in his skin snd sending out blood. You, meanwhile, would attack his eye. Hit him enough, and he's dead. Perhaps to add a bit of difficulty, halfway through the battle he gains his powers back, and you have to repeat the first steps. Basically instead of Eye->wings(opt.)/Halo->cactus thing (?) It'd be Eye->Wings->Halo->Eye(2) Kinda seems cooler stripping him of his "angelic" powers, that protected his weakpoint (Eye; hence him getting stunned, at first) then destroying his mortal form.
Those are cool ideas. i heard 02 fight was cut and censored due to it being too graphic for Kirby (cactus thing was supposed to be a spine and green puffs was supposed to be red , for example.) Also the official art of 02 at the end of Kirby shows it w/o the bandage, so it may have been added to make it more friendly, or to cover the bloody hole or maybe it had another form, etc.
i did something different, my sisters my cousins and i (when i was around 7-8years, they were all 15 and my other sister was 11-12) wanted to complete crystal shards 100% but we couldnt get all the shards, then a day when i began to play the game alone because usually it was busy already i got the last 3 we never found, one at the red dot at the 6th world 3rd stage, one at the pit at 5th world 4th stage and the last but not least at the hundred boxes where you had to shape them. I felt very good
Heard somewhere that the vine was supposed to be a spinal cord that was pushed out due to your attacks I dont know if its been confirmed tho EDIT: The vine IS a spinal cord but the reason it looks like a vine is due to censorship. Neat!
this reminds me of how they had to censor marx's fight for smash ultimate because the original design was gonna give the game a T rating. What is it with kirby character designers and making eldritch abominations
"A final battle to the death. Only in that can my soul find respite. I will kill you. Or you will kill me. It makes no difference." That quote from MGS pretty much sums up the vibe I get from Zero Two. Especially when you consider the sad reality that Zero (or rather all of Dark Matter as a collective) is the opposite of Kirby: cold and unfeeling of any kind of happiness. It goes around eliminating or enslaving any kind of source of good in the universe. Maybe it knows why it is the way that it is but also knows that it can't stop being what it is. So during the final battle, Zero gives Kirby the ultimatum: kill me or be killed. This is supported by the pause screen. It just says "tough it out". No option to quit if you're having doubts. Only way out of this is if either Zero or Kirby dies. By giving this ultimatum, Kirby will have to show no mercy, which gives Zero a small glimmer of hope that its misery will finally end. Sorry for getting all ranty there, but damn does this boss fight get the mind going. It's a stark contrast to the rest of the game. But then again, that's this series in a nutshell
when i was young is wasn´t that "tryhard" so i never felt the need of finish a game at 100% for that when i played kirby 64 i only fight the metaform boss and i tought that this gamehad a open/bad ending, like 10 years later in nostalic mod i seach "kirby 64 final boss"... what a fucking surprise that i got
The fact that we might never get another Kirby game final boss like this just HURTS- This threw a heck of a curveball at all of us as kids in _all the right ways._ And it was awesome!
Modern Kirby bosses aren't as _direct_ as 02 ever was, but they're just as depressing or horrible. May I direct you to the backstories of Queen Sectonia, Star Dream, or perhaps Magolor?
I cant believe that it took me years when my parents finally got internet i learned that rick can climb the walls in aqua star for the final shard i needed
Sometimes i cant believe kirby 64 exists, it feels like one of those games that look so promising but get cancelled, like all the games that were planned for the 64 DD
I love that (to me at least) this sounds like one of the most climactic and epic Kirby themes Like it really feels like the world is at stake And the reason this is great is because this isn’t just the final boss to cap off 1 game but A WHOLE TRILOGY!
So, there are two games for N64. Evangelion 64, which is based on NGE, the serious anime with some serious themes. It’s OST is very goofy in N64 soundfont, and it sounds like a Mario game or something. And there’s Kirby 64 which came almost a year after Eva 64. Remember, Zero Two theme was before C-R-O-W-N-E-D or other final boss themes. And still, K64 has absolute bangers like Zero Two theme or Factory Inspection.

There is such a kick-ass, anime-ish remix out there somewhere. It got some Japanese name, starts with BMS and is by sm258039 or something. Look it up, it's amazing.
This song hits so much harder when you realize 02 is basically Kirby's one and only sibling. He has to put 02 down for the good of the universe, but the song still makes it sound like it hurts.
Im sure this is a coincidence, but this song has a really similar vibe to the film “Zombi 2” (aka one of the best zombie movies ever made in my opinion)
Man if i had a nickle for everytime there a red and white fallen angel having a same name with other characters from different show i had two nickle which isn't alot but it's weird that happened twice right

Thankfully the music, visuals, story significance, and overall spectacle make up for all of that
This song was so close to 1 million views...
When you fights a egg demon angel inside on a dark ball with a cool and creepy Boss music:
It sounds so tragic and melancholic, which makes sense considering zero two is unable to feel any positive emotions, so it just travels around the universe looking for people to possess so others can feel his pain.
director: its game about a pink having adventures, what we are going to put as final boss?
an employee that lives in the garbage: what about a circular monstrous angel that suffer of haemolacria
director: you are genious
Yo creo que le dieron un aumento por eso
It took me a while to figure out this was the defeated boss from KDL 3, but reborn, when the music went from cheery to dismal and now to this, I knew that this was the true final boss.
How I would've made this boss battle;
First part'd be the same.
(Dark Matters rushing in to protect?)
His new "angelic" powers gone he'd resort to his attacks from Dreamland 3. Mainly opening the slits in his skin snd sending out blood. You, meanwhile, would attack his eye.
Hit him enough, and he's dead. Perhaps to add a bit of difficulty, halfway through the battle he gains his powers back, and you have to repeat the first steps.
Basically instead of Eye->wings(opt.)/Halo->cactus thing (?)
It'd be Eye->Wings->Halo->Eye(2)
Kinda seems cooler stripping him of his "angelic" powers, that protected his weakpoint (Eye; hence him getting stunned, at first) then destroying his mortal form.
Cactus thing= penish
Those are cool ideas. i heard 02 fight was cut and censored due to it being too graphic for Kirby (cactus thing was supposed to be a spine and green puffs was supposed to be red , for example.) Also the official art of 02 at the end of Kirby shows it w/o the bandage, so it may have been added to make it more friendly, or to cover the bloody hole or maybe it had another form, etc.
@@PKSkylerI think the bandage is to cover up the uh.. *thing* that happened in the first Zero fight.
AAAAAAA 10 years old me is remembering the trauma and the broken console
i did something different, my sisters my cousins and i (when i was around 7-8years, they were all 15 and my other sister was 11-12) wanted to complete crystal shards 100% but we couldnt get all the shards, then a day when i began to play the game alone because usually it was busy already i got the last 3 we never found, one at the red dot at the 6th world 3rd stage, one at the pit at 5th world 4th stage and the last but not least at the hundred boxes where you had to shape them. I felt very good
Heard somewhere that the vine was supposed to be a spinal cord that was pushed out due to your attacks
I dont know if its been confirmed tho
EDIT: The vine IS a spinal cord but the reason it looks like a vine is due to censorship. Neat!
@@cersiadifficult I would suppose so, but it would probably only be a skull connected to a spine with bones for the wings
this reminds me of how they had to censor marx's fight for smash ultimate because the original design was gonna give the game a T rating.
What is it with kirby character designers and making eldritch abominations
@@bitcrushed-thing Really? I'll look into it and see what I can find. Sounds pretty interesting
It's supposed to be a SPINAL CORD???
@@brothdian Yep, the vine is supposed to be 02's spinal cord, the only reason it was turned into a vine was for censorship purposes
Kirby is the fucking badass hero
Dark Cupcakes yes he is...... He is so epic I love him ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Jonah Wilson I have Kirby's epic yarn for the Wii but I don't remember if I beat it or not
Hes not in the trilogy's regard.
kirby's the hero of all time
This song fits too well with the boss fight, it feels like a song that plays when you fight a powerful being from the deepest depths of hell.
1:03 This is the Part that gets me the most
I miss these fantastic Videogame music in the newer Games !
"A final battle to the death. Only in that can my soul find respite. I will kill you. Or you will kill me. It makes no difference."
That quote from MGS pretty much sums up the vibe I get from Zero Two.
But then again, that's this series in a nutshell
fighting this boss for the first time was a huge pain... And we couldn't even exit the fight!!!
Lol it wanted us to "Tough it out!"
Y'know, Rated E, E for *Eyeball's Bleedin' Again.*
This final boss fight's first form is acually based off the first boss in Hyperzone where you have to dodge their attacks and hit the boss.
How cute looks Ribbon holding Kirby from the back
when i was young is wasn´t that "tryhard" so i never felt the need of finish a game at 100% for that when i played kirby 64 i only fight the metaform boss and i tought that this gamehad a open/bad ending, like 10 years later in nostalic mod i seach "kirby 64 final boss"... what a fucking surprise that i got
The fact that we might never get another Kirby game final boss like this just HURTS-
This threw a heck of a curveball at all of us as kids in _all the right ways._ And it was awesome!
Huh? Have you not seen any other final boss?
Have you PLAYED Planet Robobot? It’s final boss is basically this but better designed
Modern Kirby bosses aren't as _direct_ as 02 ever was, but they're just as depressing or horrible. May I direct you to the backstories of Queen Sectonia, Star Dream, or perhaps Magolor?
I cant believe that it took me years when my parents finally got internet i learned that rick can climb the walls in aqua star for the final shard i needed
underrated masterpiece fr
Kirby cute game with pink blob that can copy abilities by absorbing enemies
Final boss: Literally Biblically Accurate Fallen Angel
love this theme!
2:01 this sounds simmaler to the calm part of anakins dark deeds
Sometimes i cant believe kirby 64 exists, it feels like one of those games that look so promising but get cancelled, like all the games that were planned for the 64 DD
This final boss theme makes me want to cry and I don't know why!
Probably the way it sounds
That's because Zero two is a being who can't feel any positive emotions and he wants everyone in the universe to feel it
Whatever happened to old games having a good amount of extra content for 100%-ing it? Like, example, an ENTIRE BOSS with an AWESOME SONG?
I look at Crash 4 and see how a "100% completion bonus" can be a bad thing in this new market.
I really want a modern game to do that... if I could make games, I would definitely make a unique boss, maybe even multiple, if you 100% the game.
this sounds like the bass and main melody are two different songs being played together and i'm in for it
I had a dream that I was trying to find this song on here, but Giygas kept coming up instead
Its a shame the battle is so short, you hardly get to appreciate how epic this theme is!
zero 2 looks like biblically accurate angel
This is a bop tho 😦
my favorite last boss battle from any kirby game
Kirby 64 will be on NSO on the 20th, can't wait
Eat
Sleep
Kill God
Repeat
I love that (to me at least) this sounds like one of the most climactic and epic Kirby themes
Like it really feels like the world is at stake
And the reason this is great is because this isn’t just the final boss to cap off 1 game but A WHOLE TRILOGY!
The true final boss is the controls in this fight.
Like flying an Arwing made of silly putty.
Lord.
Now THIS is a boss battles theme
Idk but this theme feels too good to be this good ya feel me
hearing this and then comparing it to hyperzone 2 is so fucking funny like what happened to u zero ?!?! (apart from bleed out and die)
@@cersiadifficult thessilly... nno..
@micah9074 ii dont really remember but probably something abt something else that haplened to zero/ zerotwo but idk
This is it, luigi
So, there are two games for N64.
Evangelion 64, which is based on NGE, the serious anime with some serious themes. It’s OST is very goofy in N64 soundfont, and it sounds like a Mario game or something.
And there’s Kirby 64 which came almost a year after Eva 64. Remember, Zero Two theme was before C-R-O-W-N-E-D or other final boss themes. And still, K64 has absolute bangers like Zero Two theme or Factory Inspection.
Endless darkness,
endless night
A world anathema to light
All that's made can surely break
Only in dreams can we awaken
Sound and fury, heralds, horns
Cry for the one from nothing born
Now ichor leaks from broken hearts
Now come, warrior of the stars!
When you look into the sky
You'll see the light surrounded by
The dark!
The abyss, lurking
Things beyond your understanding
You who left the doorway open
Into your hearts
Into the stars!
For as long as there is fear
The creeping shadow shall draw near
From the darkness
Comes the nightmare
Born to swallow up the light
The miracle of shadow rising
All that matters now colliding!
Angels cry on wings of blood
Rain down the tears to bring the flood
And as corruption takes your heroes
Everything will fall to Zero!
man on the internet much?
YESSS MAN ON THE INTERNET
The best final boss theme of all time.
There is such a kick-ass, anime-ish remix out there somewhere. It got some Japanese name, starts with BMS and is by sm258039 or something. Look it up, it's amazing.
妖晶零弐 by tarolabo?
Glad I looked it up, it's excellent.
wow that was amazing. Thanks for the heads up

This song hits so much harder when you realize 02 is basically Kirby's one and only sibling. He has to put 02 down for the good of the universe, but the song still makes it sound like it hurts.
I'm going to play this on loop when the E4-Nightwatch takes off for the last time
Best boss theme ever
I used to main kirby in ssbbb
How come the final mainline boss of both the classic era and the handheld era are both the reincarnated souls of angels?
Im sure this is a coincidence, but this song has a really similar vibe to the film “Zombi 2” (aka one of the best zombie movies ever made in my opinion)
Man if i had a nickle for everytime there a red and white fallen angel having a same name with other characters from different show i had two nickle which isn't alot but it's weird that happened twice right
Everyone's gangsta till attempting to exit gives you a "Tough it out!"
2:02 I'm still concerned in this part
I can't unhear something saying Kirby help me
Headcanon: Zero is a Kirby from another timeline that turned into, well, Zero. He soon turned into Void Termina after his defeat, then Void Soul, And finally just... _Void,_ Being purified by Kirby and friends in Star Allies... He becomes another Kirby.
Truly a Zero to Hero.
Endless darkness, endless night, a world anathema to light.
Zero 2 Isn't The Creator Of Dark Matter, As We Can See In Kirby Star Allies Void Smiles And Can Take On A Look Similar To Dark Matter And In The Ultimate Choice, The Title For Void Soul It Shows Hyper Zone 2!
I broke my first guitar string trying to play this song using some tabs I found on a sketchy site.
Kirby DON'T STARE AT ME WITH THAT GLARE! IT'S CREEPY!
