Thanks for posting this rare and wonderful album!!!....anything with scott lafaro is a treasure. Pete laroca also played with don friedman another great pianist (circle waltz). This album which i found several years ago is extremely difficult and hard to find!
YEAH!!!!! Hearing him play with a real upright master is therapeutic. Infinitely better than the hybrid jazz + electric bass years with Swallow deciding to get lazy and go 100% electric. That E. Bass is nice for fusion or whatever, but I just love hearing Steve rip legit jazz with a legit jazz rhythm section.
Wow! Thanks so much for this - the earliest recording I've seen by one of my favourite pianists, and with LaFaro! Brilliant. Given where it was recorded, I should also add: Rest in Peace and Power, Peter Ind - another great bassist, and champion of the music.

Yes, Martin, I too feel much gratitude that this treasure is on line and I feel like this music connects me to the breakthrough bassists Lafaro and Ind and what THEY liked ! BTW, this might be Steve Kuhn's first album as leader- But did you hear the Kenny Dorham/ Charles Davis/ Steve Kuhn Quintet album made that some year, 1960. It was called KENNY DORHAM JAZZ CONTEMPORARY. Attempted link: ruclips.net/video/fwewlGolGOM/видео.html

18:42: Surrey with a Fringe on Top," matching La Faro's wit.

I had no idea Kuhn recorded as far back as 1960.
He was a 22 years old. La Faro was 24 and had just begun playing with Bill Evans.
