Visit Copenhagen should really consider sponsoring you guys.
You notice stuff the locals doesn't think about... and that American marketing spirit is really something Danes could use more of 😄
Anyway, yes, DK is nice through Xmas if you remember the right wear.
I couldn't disagree more. I would be very sad, if Denmark adopted more american marketing spirit.
One of the most beautifull things about Denmark (and the rest of Scandinavia) is that not everything is hyper commercialized.
@@spenceflatulence fair point, but you can't deny he's trying his best to talk it up the American way.
@@spenceflatulenceI don't think this has anywhere near the level of "hyper" you'll see in US advertising. He's pretty factual while mainting a sincere festive cheer.
If you know anyone there, put them in touch with us 😂
That’s how we like to approach things - like “what do I wish I knew when I first arrived”. Plus we have the benefit of understanding more than someone visiting for a week or studying abroad for a semester but we’re still “fresh eyes” on things since we grew up elsewhere 😊
@@vrenak Oh, i did not say that this video was to hypercommercialized. I just pointed out, that i don't think the country of Denmark need anymore "marketing spirit".
If you think it's cold and sour, visit the botanical garden, the tropical house is extremely comfortable, the orchid house is open Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday from 14 to 15.❤👍🤟
Great tip! The winter garden at Glyptotek is also quite nice to escape the elements 😊
@@RobeTrotting
Nice! I have lived here in Copenhagen for 20 years, but I have never been inside Glyptotek.
I *LOVE* your red shirt, Derek - so Christmassy! And a brilliant round up...thank you so much for the guide (I've just downloaded it from the QR code). Lots of great tips, even for those of us who have lived here for years! 👋🏼😍
😂😂😂😂😂😂 Derek you saved my day with your one of a kind cat walk 😂😂😂
Well this year I guess you got snow snow and more snow to light up your Christmas ❤❤❤
I like this set up more than The podcast. More personal without being to personal. 😌
Just have fun at Christmas time 😊
I'm a Dane living in Thailand, and love watching you guys exploring my home country! But what was that little sip of snaps? You always always always drink the whole glass in 1 go... Snaps is not a sippy thing, it's a get down the drain thing! Actually coming home for Christmas this year, can't wait for the Julefrokost!
So glad you enjoyed it and safe travels. God Jul 🎄❤️🇩🇰😊
I’m in Copenhagen now and I’m surprised because so many of the Christmas markets have closed within the past couple days. I kept hearing they would stay open through Dec (obviously closing on Christmas Eve and Day)!
i think you had waaaayyyy to much fun doing this video 🤣
Love it -- now when family & friends ask what weather and clothing is like in Ireland at Christmas time, I'm going to share this with them. 🤣 Love your content, god Jul!
Visiting from 15 December. Always visit just before Christmas. Can't wait. Will meet up with my Danish family, and bankrupt myself in Illums.
That’s fantastic! Safe travels 🎄😃🇩🇰
Thank you for the recommendations. Great information page .
You’re so welcome and wishing you a wonderful time in Copenhagen 😊🎄
if i dont get "burned almonds", in Danish, brændte mandler, and the "apple slices" u talked about, every year around this time, i will not forgive my self for a whole year...
Ah, yes Mike loves the brændte mandler 🤩
Copenhagen is _windy?_ Nnnooooo! But Esbjerg _is!_ 😙😙😙
😂 it’s all relative I suppose haha 🌬️
@@RobeTrotting - you bet! Regardless, hope you, Mike and your loved ones have a wonderful and very Merry Christmas, and a very Happy and prosperous New Year! 😊👍
Yes, it's a bit funny with those Copenhageners 😅 They think they know what wind is 😅 🌀
Copenhagen is windy, Esbjerg (og Vestkysten) is stormy 🤣
🇩🇰 Derek, I ❤ your festive red top / shirt that you sported at the top if this video! 🎄 🎅
Thank you 😊 and thanks to Primark 😂
@@RobeTrotting Cheers to Derek and Mike-y! 🎄
Ummm this is SO GOOD
Tak 😍 you have to see the new RUclips studio - they’re the ones making the magic 🪄 🎥
I went to CPH just this Friday-Saturday and went looking for Christmas markets. What a disappointment to realize that all of them were placed on cobbled stones, some even having steps and no ramps which made them pretty uninteresting for a wheelchair user like me. The most accessible one which still had quite a few obstacles was the one on Kgs Nytorv. In the end we decided to go to Tivoli instead - but like half a million other people had the same idea, so we gave up as we only had about 2 hours left before we had to head for the train station.
If you wanner see a christmasmarked youside of Copenhagen, then the market at Kronborg og the market at the H. C. Andersen museum in Odense are both a really good time too.
the rides is so cold to take in Christmas in Tivoli last year at the end of the day i looked like Rudolf
Just a heads up on the Crazy Christmas Cabaret, 2023 is the last year in Tivoli, they have been kicked out by Tivoli after this season.
I know 😢 so sad to hear this but I’m sure Vivienne will find an even better home, just can’t believe Tivoli would do this to them - very strange.
There is a lot of snow here in Roskilde
We had a dusting today in Copenhagen but not even enough to cover the sidewalk 😂
@@RobeTrotting we have like 10 centimeters
@@RobeTrotting At least the tendencies in the weather for this winter opens up the option that some of Denmark could get a white christmas. But as usual, no certainty until the 24th.
Me, my wife and daughter will be in Copenhagen from Dec. 26th to Jan. 7. Will the Christmas Markets be closed or due they stay open like through New Years. Also where is the best place to go for New Years there. Thanks and love the information in your videos.
All the Christmas markets in Copenhagen will close just around or before 24th December. The only Christmas market that is open in Copenhagen after 24th December is the market inside Tivoli Garden.
Ok Thanks
Yes, sadly there's not much left for Christmas markets, but New Years will be a lot of fireworks (like, a very significant amount haha) and celebrations around the city can depend what you're looking for - plenty of options to go out for dinner or to a bar, but most locals hold a house party, commonly dinner parties too.
Isn't æbleskiver usually referred to as donut holes in English?
I wouldn’t describe them that way, besides the shape they are very different
Does it snow in Copenhagen during winter months of November and December?
Not typically. If it does, there is never much accumulation - although it used to snow more frequently from what I’ve heard.
Too bad Crazy Christmas Cabaret will have its last year in Tivoli this year.
I know 😢 really hoping they get an even better venue, even if Tivoli is hard to beat
Which city is more beautiful and liveable between Copenhagen and Vienna? Please Help😊
Well I have only lived in Copenhagen, hr I have been to Vienna and it’s beautiful and I think I could see myself living there quite easily if I spoke German especially.
🥶 There is no such thing as wrong weather, only wrong clothes 🥶
2:40 if you do pack anything mink remember to hide them well or you might wake up while being visited by the Christmas-state minister looking for the item don't worry it only bites a little.
Just stay silent and hide your children well.
Glædelig Jul
And always delete the emails 😂
Just remember it's cold, dark and wet.
Bro i can do shorts in -5. Please bro we are vikings
Sure, but typical visitors would not dress that way 😂 (a lot of other Danes as well to be fair haha)
It's kinda offensive to see you take a sip of snaps. What barbarians have taught you that? You drink it from a shot glass and in one go, but only when sitting around a table for "julefrokost". (Complicated christmas meal, that I'm not even sure how to describe in a few words.)
The rest of the year snaps should be poured in the toilet to keep it clean.
I can’t tell if the first part is serious or not but agreed on the second part 😂
Watch their video from last year where they tried to eat Danish Christmas food 😅🤣
As a dane that don't like alcohol aside from white wine/champagne i couldn't agree more with the last part. 😂
Er du ikke meget sart?
