I have been biking for a year now to commute to work and school. I have saved a lot of time, money, and lost weight. In addition I motivated more than 10 friends to bike and notice an increase use of bikes in my neighbor especially young kids. Way to go
Génial super documentaire sur les fixie
My personal inner city ride is something I wish I had when I was a courier.
A light weight 92 Rocky Mountain Team Comp with Tange Ultimate Ultralight tubing, a triple butted Kona P2 fork 8 speed with Suntour Thumb shifters and XTR V brakes on Mavic Cross rides with 1.1" Michelin slicks. Why is it good for city? Its both light and strong and the 26" wheels both spin up and stop quickly, especially with V brakes-I stop on a dime. The geo is both fast and stable and being lower, I can flick it about very easily, and I can jump curbs and hit stairs without worrying about bending a wheel. The gearing is also great for city with an 11-28 and a 46 big ring, I can go plenty fast enough. I get some weird looks from the fixie crowd though. not getting any cool points but old school messengers give it props.
Le sujet est super bien traité, des images à couper le souffle, un mot : BRAVO!
I really liked this short movie. I wish there was more.
I rode a bike as a kid and at 72 I’m still riding, the earth spins around and my wheels spin around over it. Best feeling.
Damn, that was REALLY intense! Great video!
Great production, love the message! Keep commuting!!
J'approuve à 100%....
So, I guess I have to move to Montreal ;)
I am really glad I stumbled on this. I am thinking of getting a bike and getting rid of my car - also, from someone who did some documentary work in college a couple of years ago, I was amazed with the cinematography here . Keep up the documentaries!
How did you get into documentary work in college? It's something I'm very interested in doing but I don't know where to start.
Get a bike first, see if you like it ... you don't have a bike and thinking of getting rid of car???
@@jacob.g.l1592 wow this is super late but I had a class I took, a documentary class and I had projects. I hope you try it out! It was one of the more rewarding things I did in college forsure
Très cool ;-)
Oh boy !...If she would'nt sign it....I'd go into Jim Carey mode !...
I hope to see more of video documentaries from women and their perspective to personal feelings about bicycling. A large portion of show and tell about the world of cycling mainly comes from men. I still believe that there is way too much gender biases in what a woman can do when it comes to lifestyle and activity choices.
I'm like the only person who rides a fixie in my city ......
Dude, you're not alone..
Where do you live?
Indiana.
I bike.
I don't think riding a fixie makes you a hipster. Fixies were around way before messengers in north America put claim to them. Riding a fixed gear on the street without a brake however, unless you are actually a messenger and or you race the velodrome, does make you a hipster in my opinion in that you're trying to imitate something you're actually not apart of. Even messengers riding brakeless fixed who've never ridden on the track I kind of squint at.
That's the main advantage of riding brakeless fixed is that it's a bike that you can go to work on as a courier if you know how to ride it and you can after work or on the weekends race on a velodrome without needing to modify your bike or get a second bike.
Most messengers I know ride a double brake singlespeed or a double brake fixie/front brake fixie or cargo bike. Riding brakeless fixed is not common with messengers in my city I only know 1 or 2 that do it out of 30.
I am
i think this video is super inspiring. i like the artistic factor in the movie itself but the meaning is really cool. i am currently in the process of getting a bike and hope to be riding soon.
Fantastic....I love the comment about the obcession with lifestyle, thats when you know you are hooked.
Thanks Richard Hogg !
I really enjoyed this, it's very forward looking. Thank you.
@ the 7min mark.. I ride because i enjoy riding, its great exercise & fun but i find myself wanting to meet other cyclist to ride with now, to socialize & share in the enjoyment of what it is to ride.
We loved your video, and shared it on our site. Look in Cycling or do a search. We would love to have you contribute more to Satellite Sports Network. www.satellitesportsnetwork.com

Thanks Jody Heneveld, we just uploaded a new collab vid with Bern. Take a look! The Dream | Le Rêve - You Are The Vision - Building a Cycling Community
Thumbs up to everyone in this video.
Great audiovisual work. Im a fixed gear cyclist and each day I am more and more in love with this, not only mean of transport, but way of life. Thanks and greeting from Madrid (Spain). Check our cycle community on Facebook facebook.com/madcityrides/
I tell you , just ride. I think any city or town that makes room for kids and adults to ride has a great vibe for some reason. I love the older Trek road bikes and mountain bikes, also Italian, English ., Japanese etc. Some awesome hand made steel bikes from the 80s , 90s etc.
Best thing about Montreal and cycling is, there are no streetcar tracks
No offence but, 6 people think Bicycles / Bikes were discovered and not invented.
Thanks for the film. The bike culture is small where I live. But me and a band of merry cyclists are bringing cycling back in a whole new way. It is inspiring watching these types of videos
Anybody knows who's the guy in minute 9:47?
Good luck to Gnarly Conspiracy's cycle to Boston.
What is that music?! It's awesome.
We have to have at least a front brake on our fixies here in the U.K. but has anyone tried pulling on the front brake in an emergency?.....Don't bother shaving....the tarmac will do it for you! :-)
+murphy snodgrass So are we in Sweden, but you know what? It's the same in Brussels, Copenhagen and Berlin for example. I don't have one and I've never been stopped during my almost two years riding without one. Rules are meant to be broken, not jaws and collar bones. Ride safe, ride smart :)
Say "psychic benefits" again.Jeez I should be a bike messenger, im always cycling through my busy town fast dealing with people and traffic and have never had an accident. :DLooks good in the sun Part of me thinks these guys are douchebags and give cyclists a bad name and part of me thinks it's awesome. New York looks like a zoo anyway. Gotta say, this is the only bike vid I've seen in recent memory with any decent music. man now I want a brooks saddle and move to Seattle Washingtonvery in depth documentary, worth every second What do you think about that ?You are not alone. :)I just started riding a bike again, I have literally no knowledge on them other than they have two wheels and goes forward when i pedal. I just watched this video and am now confused and worried as hell. How often do problems like the ones described in the video occur? I don't have the money to take my bike to a shop all the time to have this stuff done, nor the tools. I'm hoping after watching it again I can do some of this myself but am still worried about the frequency of these issues and how I will figure out if something is wrong. What do you think about that ?Are those drop handlebars or moustache type at 16:25 - 16:30 or so?They are both thinking about how difficult it would be to have sex with each other.Blood Sweat and Gears Part 1 of 7My personal inner city ride is something I wish I had when I was a courier.A light weight 92 Rocky Mountain Team Comp with Tange Ultimate Ultralight tubing, a triple butted Kona P2 fork 8 speed with Suntour Thumb shifters and XTR V brakes on Mavic Cross rides with 1.1" Michelin slicks. Time to get out of Germany. Politicians over here always rant about how we should promote cycling more, but at the same time authority are punishing us for riding fixed gears. Hypocritical to the max!
10:15 and the bit keeps going on!
🙂👍🏻
It most definitely is a lifestyle.
What's the name of the song at 5:38'?
Happy New Year to IBike.batalaci & facebook.com/Bata Cycling Team
I ride fixie no brakes and I love it :D
I read "no brains" lol.
This is a really handsome video. Did you guys do a BTS? I'd love to see info about your camera equipment, lighting, color grading etc
I found 7:20 to 8:09 a very interesting way to explain people how a long term quality of life in a city can be improved.
there is, still, unfortunately, a to big lobby from the car industry at the moment and many jobs depending from it. :(
Anyway, here in Brussels I'm seeing more and more people choosing to bike on very regular way, and this is great!
Je veux faire parti de l'aventure! IBIKE FOR THE WIN!
No english subs? Well fuck..
Bike is not a verb
Lol, at the hipsters peddling like crazy going down hill, it looks ridiculous. I think someone needs to tell them that there are bikes where you do't need to do that.
+Major MajorMajor Perhaps they do it because they like it ?????
Saalik Reynolds
So insightful.
+Major MajorMajor 'KING OATH, FOOL.
Pricksters look ridiculous doing anything!
What a wonderful movie. I hope this spirit moves all over the world....
nothing better than getting on your bike and hitting the road.
I'm *
I LIKE.
This makes me want to start building a fixie from scratch.
Maybe once I have some money and/or grow tired of a perfectly good 24-speed.
Cycling is also a fabulous cardiovascular work out as well.
You guys should come to Detroit we have a huge biking community out here
MATHIEU COURNOYER DE MALAJUBE?!
WAAAAAAT
mtb > fixie
*ducks for shitstorm :D*
that's totally awesome.. i wish if we have a fixies community .. :)

Awesome film, I am blown away. I love Montreal.
Bravo au travail et au message !
Thank You! For the inspiration from this film. Can I show this to the cyclist in my gathering event to promote cycling and save earth?
Of course! Would love the credit!
I will give you all the credit and many thanks. Happy riding, cheers.
