that cpu when it's using intergrated graphics and an hdd to start windows can't even run itself, it gets like 10 fps in terraria with a 1440x900 screen and everything lowest... It's amazing how much a difference an ssd and a gpu can make to an old cpu that's near free at this point
@@zeyshy it's like 8€ used, the cpu is 10 years old and a dual core... I found an i5 2nd gen for 14€, but that i7 is just way too expensive, it's like 95€, who the hell buys stuff like that for that price?
I had this exact CPU...a century ago. Back then dual core was more than enough for gaming, all you needed was high frequency, and this CPU had it. Also, it was very cheap. I was playing WoW Cataclysm on this beauty :)
I have (and use) an old laptop with a second gen i3. Never really gets to stretch its tiny legs due to either thermal constraints or the graphics of the machine holding it back. For those of you wondering, it was cleaned roughly 6 months ago. And I got it to throttle playing minecraft, right after I cleaned it.
The latest version of Minecraft is a very memory and CPU intensive game, especially Java edition, the more they add the less optimized it is. If you can, I would recommend trying Minecraft for Windows 10 which I have noticed to run way better on older hardware if you manage to optimize Windows 10 enough. It may not fix your thermal problems though, I'm assuming when you cleaned it you also replaced the thermal paste as well, but even then that only gets you so far.
Still using the i3-2100 and gt620. Valorant runs 60+ but stutters a lot and minecraft runs much better with optifine and lower settings. It's really nice to see someone testing older stuff and not only latest and greatest PC components.
I've been using this cpu for 10 years! I used to have i3-2100 but it over heated and broke Then i used a i3-2120. Since that day I've never upgraded my pc, it runs unknowingly well for such an old pc, with its hd 2000 graphics it is still good for light gaming like minecraft etc! Thanks for reviewing this cpu!
I actually just tested Half-life 1 on an i3-2100 with integrated graphics and it would run 200-300 fps with the framerate unlocked, but as soon as I turned on my flashlight it dropped to 15-30 fps mind you I was playing in 640x480. Somehow playing Minecraft or doing any type of gaming on integrated graphics this old doesn't sound viable, especially when my test was on a game from 1998. Sometimes the hardware that is currently available is too weak to fully allow the user to experience the game in the way the developers ambitioned. So sometimes the dev's create a game where modern hardware can only play at the minimum specs with the hope that future hardware will be able to play the game the way it was actually meant to be played. An example of this is trying to make a game with epic medieval battles where each army is fielding hundreds of troops at its rival. Such a project would leave the game essentially unplayable on an old dual core i3, and barely playable on a quadcore i5 and i7. But then a few years later, cpu's became much more powerful and each cpu line suddenly had more cores and threads (i3 became 4 cores 8 threads, i5 became 6 cores 12 threads, i7 became 8 cores 16 threads). These new cpu's would then allow the project to finally be played the way it was meant to be played (hundreds of warriors fighting on the battlefield at a smooth 60fps+ with no stuttering).
I still can't believe when I was in the middle of upgrading my previous build, I was rocking the RX 6600 XT with the Xeon X3470. its kinda sad seeing the state of chips like this one nowadays, especially this particular one, which i rocked for 8 years before swapping to the r5 3600
If you're gonna test low end cpu's, I would recommend using Sodium in Minecraft since it reduces the cpu overhead by a lot and puts more work onto the GPU.
I think the point of the video is to show what these processors and GPUs can do without any modifications to modern games. People looking for a nice low budget PC may not be looking for a processor that requires them to do more work in order to use it. What your looking for is an entirely different genre of video entirely, Like "How to use i3-2100 in 2022" not "i3-2100 11 years later"
@@TheHunt890 Understandable. But I do actually hope he starts using Sodium mod if he ever started to test any low-end CPU's on Minecraft to let people know such mod exist to improve performance.
Any Sandy Bridge video is a good video. I pulled an i3-2120 out of a Dell Inspiron 620 and replaced it with a Xeon E3-1245. Kinda sad to see the Sandy Bridge platform succumb to obsolescence because it was such a great platform for so many years. The old 2600k can now be found for $30 on ebay, and the i7-2600 for about $25, which are still serviceable. I've upgraded a few Dell Inspiron and Optiplex systems with a Sandy Bridge CPU, and Dell never wrote a BIOS update that makes Ivy Bridge compatible with these Sandy Bridge systems.
I still use my i7 2637m GT540m laptop for everyday internet surfing and oldschool gaming, I love trying to get modern games running on it for a laugh and your vids definitely help when it comes to what setings to turn down. Too many beautiful memories have come across my mind. It was my first ''gaming'' CPU when I was 12 years old back on 2012. I rocked it for like four years maybe? Then I quited gaming and barely touched my PC until last year. On april I bought a new gaming PC and today, actually right now I just finished cleaning up my old i3 sandy bridge to give it to my parents as they not gonna need a master race, lmao. However, it was so nice to remeber those (g)old days, men. Time flies 😪😪😪
I just got this cpu for 2$. Pair it with a h61 itx mainboard I bought online for 15$ to make a mini media PC. It still pretty capable for basic task like browsing the web, watching youtube and movies.
I have this in my system right now actually, hopefully that changes soon with an i5-6500 Interesting how low the FPS was in CS:GO there. I have the i3 paired with a GT 1030 on slightly higher settings and I was getting better FPS
I got an i5 760 with an rx580..... I would love to see you do some tests in them. I currently play cyberpunk, red dead 2 and other games... actually enjoying it with no stutters. I enjoy your tests so would like to see you test it.
If you have i3 2nd gen or 3rd gen, get the i5. These run much better in semi modern games. The prices for the i5s are quite low. Eg here in Australia the i3-2100 is around $10 AUD and the i5 is around $20 AUD (base models). The jump from 2C/4T might not sound much but the 4C/4T are a definitely big step up. If you have a Z board and can find a i5-2500K or i5-3570K that can do 4.2-4.3Ghz with no issues then you will be totally ok playing previous get A+ titles at lower resolutions (maybe not Cyberpunk).. Maybe do a vid and how a base i5 would do. something like i5-2400 or i5-2500 non K. Also an interesting vid would be to play these games on something from the 4th gen.. like a i3-4160. I have not tested that setup but it might be good for a video.
this cpu have been used by my aunt in 2011 as well but it's the 2100. i remember using it and this is exactly how it performs. she built it for around $500 which may look overpriced but pc components in my country are very expensive even until now. that system literally only has the i3 and a single stick of 2gb ddr3 ram lol.

I am currently using this same i3-2120 and I just saw your video get uploaded, so I came to watch it as I wanted to know which games can run 'smoothly' with this processor. Also I am using a Geforce 210 GPU but I want to find out how to enable/disable the iGPU (Intel HD 2000) as pairing these two gives very bad frames in like CS:GO; it doesn't even stay consistent on 30fps and stutters like hell. Thanks for uploading good content as always.......Much support.
I had this CPU in combination with GTS 430 and... I was playing Minecraft on 1280x1024 with maximum 40 FPS on...normal maps. And on flat maps, the situation was better, with 60-70 FPS in general.
The Intel HD 2000 can definetly handle Minecraft at proper settings and FPS with lower render distance. I can play Java Edition 1.18 at 1080p30 with higher graphics or 720p60 with lower graphics. Bedrock Edition runs much better tho.

But I do actually hope he starts using Sodium mod if he ever started to test any low-end CPU's on Minecraft to let people know such mod exist to improve performance.
my spare pc i dont use anymore since 6 years ago i have this in it thanks for this!
The minecraft bit reminds me of playing it on library computers in school.
I had one of these in 2011, was a great cou back then
Any Sandy Bridge video is a good video.
13:22 Wth, that was a headshot. The stutter actually helped me...
Me, playing on a stutter-mess machine:
-First time?
Finally i can play some forza on my i3 2120 thanks for testing this
I'm amazed it's not even close to being obsolete. I can still achieve daily work tasks with an intel core duo 2 alone.
You managed to put bob invisible on red ded redemption 2. That bug was realy fun to watch.
You have a great sense for interesting test comparisons. Thanks
You really deserve an Oscar by your thumbnail.
Thanks! Glad you like it 😁
I've still got an i3 4170 and for the games I play with my GTX 750 it works just fine. Modern titles are a complete no go though
Nice video bro always support you
It's actually crazy how well optimized Valorant is. I run it with intel UHD 630 at 1080p and I get around 75 fps average.
I've played a lot of WoW on the UHD 630, with an i7 7700, very nice little GPU.
I am thinking to buy 13 12100 uhd 730 I dont want to play games only some light games like minecraft etc and do coding. Is it okay
@@Pram6969 It will run Minecraft on low setting without any problems. And you can always buy GPU if you want to play other games
Settings???🤔
@@buymeplease 1080p low everything
Nice to see old systems and CPUs tested here in my best channel ❤️👍
I watch your videos daily thanks for awesome content😁
Bro it is giving me vibes of my old pc with i5 650 processor 🥲. Love from India 🇮🇳 ♥️..
Eu usava um i3 2310M com Intel HD ghaphics 3000 de Notebook. Rodava muito bem a calculadora. 🖒. Nice video. 🇧🇷
"rodava muito bem a calculadora" KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK FEZ A MINHA MADRUGADA ESSE COMENTÁRIO KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
Kkkkkkkkkkkkk vsf
I still use my i7 2637m GT540m laptop for everyday internet surfing and oldschool gaming, I love trying to get modern games running on it for a laugh and your vids definitely help when it comes to what setings to turn down. Don't worry, I've got a gaming PC but I love this little laptop (Alienware M11x)
Love ur Videos! Greeting from Germany :))
I have a i7 2640m (2cores and 4 threads) with a GeForce gtx 560ti on e-gpu and fortnite run in 1080p performance mode at 60fps (lock fps) without any freeze it's very impressive...
MY Great Man
That was my i3!! In pandemic I had an old notebook from 2010 with an Intel i3-m350 with 2C, 4T 2,28ghz with a dedicated GPU AMD Ati Radeon HD 5000 series with 512vram but... it was the FIRST generation of i3 Intel
it's now good for retro gaming to anything around 2016
My parents have a Mac all in one desktop/monitor with one of these powering it. We upgraded it with 8GB of RAM and an SSD, and it still does great as a web browsing machine.
great video
still waiting for the core 2 quad and the core 2 extreme series
Too many beautiful memories have come across my mind. It was my first ''gaming'' CPU when I was 12 years old back on 2012. I rocked it for like four years maybe? Then I quited gaming and barely touched my PC until last year. On april I bought a new gaming PC and today, actually right now I just finished cleaning up my old i3 sandy bridge to give it to my parents as they not gonna need a master race, lmao. However, it was so nice to remeber those (g)old days, men. Time flies 😪😪😪
I love these videos with low-end cpus/gpus
I just got this cpu for 2$. Pair it with a h61 itx mainboard I bought online for 15$ to make a mini media PC. It still pretty capable for basic task like browsing the web, watching youtube and movies.
I have this in my system right now actually, hopefully that changes soon with an i5-6500
Interesting how low the FPS was in CS:GO there. I have the i3 paired with a GT 1030 on slightly higher settings and I was getting better FPS
Lower end GPU's do better since less bottleneck
It depends of map and if you have already played one or two games , that way it becomes more consistent with the fps
My laptop: Finally, a worthy opponent! Our battle will be legendary!
when i was a teenager i used to play gta 5 on a 4th gen i3 with hd4400 graphics. had to play at 800x600 and would still be lucky to hit 30.
I am waiting for this , its going to be fun.
Pair this with 1060 u get shocked
It runs literally the same as with the 1080ti
Next time please do a vid about a i5 4590 with its igpu (hd 4600 graphics) also great vid Kryzzp!
I love watching ur vids when im eating :> keep upp Kryssp
Bad memories with this cpu, but i can still have fun with him.
Whenever he says "welcome to the sunday video" Me be like what it's monday tomorrow 🥲 weeks passing by very much faster
True 🙃
Monday is my day off though, it has always been the worst day of the week so now that I make my own schedule I chose to have Mondays off 🤣
@@zWORMzGaming yes man it is worst of the week🙂🥲 but i am on vacation 😎 now i can watch your videos 😛
This paired with an RTX 3090 Ti would be perfect.
true. You provide him with the 3090ti he will do the rest.
I have this cpu and it runs well on old games :D
Ahh my previous CPU holding all the games like wheel chair
3:14 NAHHH I NEVER SEEN A CPU FREEZE/LOCK UP A GAME LIKE THAT AND TEXTURE STREAM UP LIKE THAT TOO! 👀😳🙀 (Gave me a heart attack)
It's beautiful 🤣
Very Nice Bro Keep It Up
There is the word of "Sandy Ojisan" (Uncle Sandy) in Japan. It means people who stick to Sandy Bridge CPU for many years...
Sandybridge. The last generation of Moore's Law
19:34 Bob send his half of body to another dimension :D
this cpu have been used by my aunt in 2011 as well but it's the 2100. i remember using it and this is exactly how it performs. she built it for around $500 which may look overpriced but pc components in my country are very expensive even until now. that system literally only has the i3 and a single stick of 2gb ddr3 ram lol.
watching this on my i3 2nd gen cpu in 2024 on 1080p no lag Just wow
i like ur videos a much
I'm watching this video with an i3-2100 right now 😝
The CPU I still use in my TV media box 🙂
same. Netflix ftw
Reminds me the old days with that old apu i had constant stopping so annoying xD And omg i forgot i had to wait for thesee loading times this video reminded me xD i was staring at the square loading back then xD But i was excited to play mc even with those terrible stutters i was playing 2 chunks and even fancy graphics were giving me more fps than fast? Lol oh gosh the memories from this video are coming back :D
Oh hey! We just talked about this on the 4th gen vid. I would have sent you my 2130.
im still using i3 2120 in 2022 paired with Radeon HD 5770, you know its kinda fine
this is still my daily runner and honestly its not the worst thing in the world although 2 cores 4 threads does get old it runs valorant just fine
I'm still rocking on my i3-2120 w/ its iGPU, 8 GB DDR3, 120 GB SSD on a Colorful H61 mini ITX mobo as my daily use computer. No games on this one though. I don't feel upgrading the unit as it's way2x more than enough for my current application. Got a Ryzen 5 3600x, 32 GB DDR4, 2 TB SSD (2 x 1 TB) and RX 5700XT (8GB) on an Asrock Fatal1ty B450 Gaming K4 mobo on my gaming PC and i don't feel upgrading this also for now.
Kryzzp is the the best guy. His graphics card and cpu testing are amazing.i like your all gpu and cpu test. You are amazing.
Thank you buddy 💪😁
Agreed
Zwormz, I know you are not gonna answer thid comment, but my amd ryzen 5 5600g + rtx 3060 still stutters in minecraft just like THIS. How? Well, you are a very good youtuber and I have seen all of your epic videos.
kryzzp how you ever thought of using Teardown or the Titanic For Honor and Glory demo for your benchmarks?
No, just veca they're not that popular!
What are your computers specifications?(Aside from the CPU and Graphics deceleration unit)
That's my laptop's processor! Finally getting some representation!!
Hello bro
I'm still using this small kid😆 and it sttutter like hell sometimes in even GTA 5 with GTX 1060 3GB varient
Got this CPU for 10 pence today... Tech moves so fast
1080 ti is running cyberpunk at 25 fps is itself a miracle
I had this CPU in combination with GTS 430 and... I was playing Minecraft on 1280x1024 with maximum 40 FPS on...normal maps. And on flat maps, the situation was better, with 60-70 FPS in general.
I still use this in my HTPC with a HD 7770 1gb... Still going strong. Well it was never strong, but it works.
Wow! I have that one, when paired with an Intel HD 2000, it can play minecraft at 15 fps like a pro
The Intel HD 2000 can definetly handle Minecraft at proper settings and FPS with lower render distance.
I can play Java Edition 1.18 at 1080p30 with higher graphics or 720p60 with lower graphics.
Bedrock Edition runs much better tho.
@@VDani16 well last time I checked my hd 2000 couldn't run 1.17 and above
Like literally opengl error
@@AzureWasTaken With Intel HD 2000 I believe Windows 10 drivers don't properly support OpenGL. I had that problem too. I switched to Linux myself, but there is a workaround for this on Windows, I can send If you are interested.
@@VDani16 that's the solution, i use ubuntu as it uses mesa, and I can finally play 1.18.2 with like 102 fps, the comment I said before was before switching
I am Commenting this from exact same CPU (i3-2120).
I still use it paired with GT-1030😅
I was using a sandy bridge i3 2350M from 2014-2021 it was in an Asus laptop ! That thing was a beast i was playing old games the likes of MS Flight simulator X, CS Source, Pes 2012 and some old battlefield titles. Also i was running Adobe premiere 2017/Lightroom and Photoshop. I gave up the laptop and upgraded to an Asus Ryzen 4500u in 2021 because as it was aging the screen bleeding got worse and some keys in the keyboard started to fail. But the internals just worked fine !
