Honestly, this has gotta be the best B-Flat motor I've ever heard on an MEI.
Gotta thank Steve at MEI for that.
I hope they fix the low on oil issue soon because it’s terrible for the pump.
Ok to the reply I visited here a month of so ago and yeah they turned on the fan and replaced the pump for a 7 year old elevator... that’s not long lasting!

@@KaedeAnimation Yeah I know that they replaced the pumps (yep it has 2 pumps; on for each hydraulic ram.) also I want to see the motor room for this thing. Apparently they replaced the pumps because on of the motors died. Also I watch a video of when this thing was brand new and the motor was very quiet. Pretty weird.
Sadly the motor has since been replaced.
Even though they are all over the place here, I love MEI elevators! They make great elevators.

I’ve ridden all of those elevators except these. Also when ur at the Marquis check out the 2 floor hydraulic elevator at the Pulser lounge because it has a VERY EPIC motor.

Also don’t forget the 18-30 (motor room at 33) and the 1-17 (elevator motor room at 20) is usually unlocked. Be sure to check that out.

Epic motor! It’s a bit low on oil, but I’m pretty sure they put some in shortly after the video. That motor is music to my ears and is harmonic. The International elevator at Dillard’s at MacArthur Mall has a similar sounding motor, but it’s slower and less harmonic.

@@PNWElevatorAviation Not this one though, this was clearly a custom job. A standard MRL elevator would’ve likely been cheaper because they wouldn’t have to customize as much.

You could definitely tell this elevator was added on at a later time because even though its attached to the building it was most likely installed as an express elevator to get to the top floor

The doors have been Glass for a long time. They just put new flooring in too

I remember at the shopping center I go to they had a glass elevator that wasnt as interesting as this but it was wierd because it had a mix of differant buttons like montgomery vector innovation and it was very badly beat up but kone got a hold of it and they put their buttons on it but I wish mei got a hold of it instead oh well
But unfortuatelly it does break down alot more often now I dont think its the modernization that causes it though I think its just very poorly maintained

What is the difference between the different types of hydraulic elevators? I've heard of dry powered and submersible but how are they different?
Dry-type and submersible refer to the types of pump used. Nearly all modern hydraulic passenger elevators use submersible pumps, where the pump and motor are mounted inside the oil tank.
How can you tell which one is being used while you're riding the elevator?
The motor pitch: B-Flat is usually submersible, while A, A-Flat, B, C, D, D-Flat, E, E-Flat, F, & F-Sharp are usually dry-powered.
@@ElevatorDude B-flat usually has a higher pitch if it’s dry-powered and is usually only on old lifts. In Europe and Asia, G and F-sharp are only submersible and most countries only have those pitches.
And yeah, G is also dry-powered in North America.

Yes, as well as multiplied. The Cemco/Otis elevators at the Newseum are direct hydraulic and are the highest direct hydraulic elevators in the world.

It did get replaced. The original submersible pump wasn't good enough, so they replaced it with a dry powered pump
