It's not even a real Demon. Demon was a Dart, not a Challenger. Just modern "slap an old name on a car it looks nothing like it was" method. Plus, the dark hood with the scoop was specifically for the A12 package Coronet Superbee and Road Runner, a 4 hood pin lift off hood. Today's hood for the "Demon" is just a reference.

My 68 Charger RT 440 Magnum,727 auto and 3.23 rear axle ratio ran 12.80's back in 1973 !
Stock ,never modified 59,000 miles on it !!! I did change the rear tires because the white wall 185 70 series 14 inch bias ply didnt hook...I used a 1970 205 Wide Tread 60 series lol, again skinny tires back then ! But Dad was a Drag Racer and I knew how to make the car spin/move quick at the same time, not sit and spin !
By 1979 I had over 100,000 miles and added a intake.carburetor more cfm and jetted, added headers, traction bars and then we had pro trac tires that were 275 wide !! I ran 12.40's all day long with a stock 440 never opened up,stock cam and heads etc..
Dad bought a new 70 Cuda 440 6bbl (still has it and I own my Charger today and many others) His Cuda had the 440 6bbl,auto and Dana 60 with 3.54 gears ! He ran low 12's bone stock with the 205 wide tread tires, spinning on take off ! 2 weeks after he bought it he ran 11.70's all he did was add headers, tweaked the carbs and slicks but slicks then were like a modern radial for traction, remember no track compounds like today !!!
Just for fun to tell you these old cars were very powerful, even a sedate geezer cruiser my buddy had..1968 Chrysler Newport 4 door (the 2 doors were cool,I owned one too/) 4 door,383 low compression Two barrel,2.76 axle, single exhaust bone stock ran 14.80's wit 1/4 tank of fuel and 15 flat with full tank and his construction tools in the trunk !!!
Old car tests were dont with no traction folks....
426 Hemi gained power every year it was made the 70 and 71 were the most powerful ! 500 dyno'd hp for pre 70 and close to 550 hp for the 70-71 !!! Headers, tweaked carbs added 75 hp,you can get an extra 100 hp from carbs, intake, headers on basically all old Mopar V-8's..Unless some clown rebuilt it and mis matched the heads and cam, this happened all the time a lumpy cam comes up and a bone stock Mopar eats it !
426 Hemi cars ran mid 11's bone stock except headers and slicks ,thats a stock engine !! From the 60's to 71 thats what they ran !!
I've seen it all cars run slower because of mismatched parts..and most people today didnt drive them new like I did...in 1972 I bought my 68 Charger RT with 56,000 miles(lowest mile one at the time closest to me 100 mile radius) Yes,I have it with a 535 stroker but still looks stock, and yes it runs like my 2018 Hellcat Challenger ..
Old road tests were done taking off in 2nd gear or flooring it in 1st spinning the tires and slowing them down...They even tested a 383 2bbl non performance Challenger to mid 14's in the 1/4 and thats right as a 4030 lb 1968 Newport ran 14.8 to 15 flat...
I dont make crap up as I love old cars and new cars and my wifes 2017 300 5.7 Hemi is around 5 flat to 60 and high 13's in the 1/4 and my stock 440 eats it..Yes,I bought a 1970 Coronet RT in 1983 from the original owner and it still is all stock, never rebuilt ! I ran it in the 1980's ,it ran 12.92@109 ! It had 245 -70- 14 series Good Year radials and it has 3.55 gearing with the 8 3/4,it was harder to hook, but the car was so pristine I only ran it once...Still have it and it still hauls butt !
My uncle ran the local track(owned it) He also owned a Chrysler -Plymouth dealer..Dad later bought a Dodge-Chrysler dealer..My sister had a new 75 Volare 2 door 360 2bbl and ran low 15's,no lean burn ..lean burn cars were 3 seconds slower !
I have all my numbers written down for the cars we ran...Buick GS 455,Ford Torino 428 and 429 ,Oldsmobile,Pontiacs 455's were hot rods too they ran like a 440 ,or close to it lol..

Hahahahaha. THAT was NO 426 Hemi in that Charger. Maybe a 318 or 383 "Stocker" just runnin' to have somethin to do. Even a 440 MAGNUM would have showed out better. My Father had a 1968 FACTORY Hemi Charger that BLEW ALL OTHER MOPARS, Chevys, Oldsmobiles, Pontiacs and the like OFF THE TRACK. HEMI STOCK with a curb weight of 4200 pounds, 727 Torqueflight Tranny, 373 Posi. TOP END BEAST.
ALL BIG BLOCK Chevys "BOW DOWN".(with the exception of one 427L88 which was a nightmare and Formidable Competition...but STILL got Whupped if only by a tenth or two but I MUST give props where due) I was 11 yrs old in 1968 and Pop taught me how to Calibrate the Air/Fuel Mixture on those TWIN CARTER AFB's and they would start Growlin' precisely at 73 miles per hour when the second Carter would Chime in and start drinkin'. Ofcourse if you hit WOT out the Gate it was on like Butter Through Corn and you had to retrieve your Domepiece from the back seat.

I think the power of the new cars, namely the Demon, the Hellcat, and Redeye, is too great to comprehend. A 12 second time in a real Charger is nothing to sneeze at. But without significant power, will be a mild mannered old school car. If the owner doesn't plan on drag racing it regularly (or even if he does, but doesn't want to be competitive), this is a great time! But Chrysler has put away some r & d money for serious horsepower, and we are seeing factory stock cars, bought at the dealership, ones that can be driven to and from the track comfortably, lay down times hovering at the 9s. An old school factory Hemi car had to have headers, drag slicks, suspension mods, gearing, etc. to get into the tens. Not comfortable to live with daily (no option for air conditioning). Plus, one had to constantly tinker with the carbs. Impressive quarter time, but that was the lighter cars like the 'Cuda or Challenger. The advantage of older cars, like this Charger, is you have ALL years' stuff to play with. Modern crate engines like the Hellephant, or engines from wrecked new cars, not to mention several massive crate engine Hemis like 528, 540, 572 which would wake the dead. You can do most anything to an old muscle car...not too much to a new one if you want to keep the warranty (or street legal for that matter!).

Seriously if they can't notice that alone then they are a lost cause.
