Beginner Aerial Hammock Routine to "You Don't Own Me"

- A beginner aerial student of mine asked me to put together a routine to this lovely version of "You Don't Own Me", so here it is. Pretty much all beginner hammock moves, but obviously the spinning and artistic elements come with practice and time.
The moves are beginner but the spinning and the coordination to the music makes it look expert!! Wow! Keep going girl!!

This is the kind of thing gymnasts do at home after our spring floors have been replaced with family life. I am 50 now (I still get carded though once in a while when buying a bottle of wine, Ty very much!!) My youngest child is a senior in high school this year. 🙄

I KNOW WHAT I AM GETTING MYSELF FOR CHRISTMAS!! 🎅 I want an aerial silks hammock! My body wont do full on tumbling anymore, but I'd bet it could still do THAT. (I hope) What better feeling of freedom and what better of a workout could a girl have in her own living room? After all of these years, I deserve to get to do something fun for myself! I might even get my abs back! I WANT WHAT YOU HAVE!! 😍! Thank you for posting this.

Ah, thank you so much! Yes, I teach private lessons in my home aerial gym. I live in Draper, Utah. Hammock is my very fav apparatus!

Also what atachment to you have to hold up you swing for you to spin and not twist up
Hi~ I may be asking a dumb question, but how do you keep your silk spinning for so long at a pretty consistent speed? It looks really fun, but our ceiling is low so I don't know if we could twist it up enough to spin so long :)
I'm pretty sure the rigging spins. Other than that it's just how you maneuver your body
@@leahharvey6177 Thank you so much :) I can get our short silks to spin one way, then the other for a little while... by being wide, then tight... but knew I could never spin that long :)
Try a Swivel
Need a swivel in between, also they spin a bit better if there's only 1 connection point in the ceiling but both work. There's absolutely 0 twisting involved, the connection itself with the swivel spins.

Natalya Marques the hammock is attached to barrings (sorry if i spelt that wrong lol) that spin, which is attached to the ceiling
There is a spinny bit between the carabines. Basically looks like an 8, it spins super well with added weight and momentum.

Hi!! My hammock is from Aerial Essentials, you can buy silks and other aerial supplies from them online. Their silks are simply AWESOME!! My rig was custom-built by a welder and aerialist friend, sorry I can't help you there!

I'm not a beginner, I just created this routine with beginner moves for a student of mine. I have been doing aerials for almost 5 years, and when I started I couldn't do most of the things I can do now.

I look like I’m about to die and hanging on for dear life lmao 😂 thanks for the tip on where to buy the silks. The ones I found on amazon aren’t great. Can I ask, do you use medium stretch or light stretch ? What should I purchase to start ? Thanks so much for your reply :-)
@@zoemusiconline I use low stretch silks from Aerial Essentials. I would not buy silks from Amazon for sure, maybe just carabiners and rescue eights. I hope you have a wonderful aerial journey! It's all about progress and passion!
