times are hard so people smoke less ,people are buying less groceries too.
And it sucks
Its not special anymore when so many close by states have it, in Washington my friend Dan his store is kinda suffering
Why buy marijuana if you don't have any food to ear? Get real.
Cannabis is easy to quit if you can't afford it. Alcohol and tobacco are MUCH MUCH harder to quit even when you don't have the money.
Maybe that’s one factor.
I’d guess now that’s it’s legal people might cut back too even.. perhaps some were using ‘cause their environments were tough, but now it’s less tough and they think their physical health is declining.. that’s my feeling for some odd reason.
We're in a recession. Everyone is buying less of everything. I make a great living and I am cutting back. I can't imagine how those that make low income wages are doing.
🌬📢 💨 Th@t part 🖐🏽
yep, we unexpectedly had to buy car, so we had to quit smoking cannabis and cigs and drinking to help afford outrageous car payments, and we're lucky compared to people who can't afford to cover $400 emergency
The technical meaning of recession is two quarters of negative growth, and that has not happened.
@@sinisterminister3322is an Internet smarty pants. Dork
It's rough man. I've been a trucker since 99. The flood of immigrants and work visas has destroyed wages and rates.
In case you guys haven't figured it out
Colorado was ground zero for the black market around the rest of the country for most of the decade until recently when everyone became legal.
They changed their laws in buying amounts to prevent people from buying bulk and shipping it away and that is what killed their industry.
And for the record I haven't checked on the other stats but teen suicide has doubled throughout the entire country
That’s because of Instagram and the fact that the planet is dying and our government is destroying the economy and the environment and killing kids. And opiates are everywhere. America is a scam
Teen suicide almost certainly has nothing to do with marijuana. Have you considered they are realizing they were born into a dying world being destroyed by greedy 70+ year olds? That is what ALL young people I talk to are talking about
Coloradoan and ex-mj caregivers. One year after full legalization.... they made a HUGE change called "vertical integration" it essentially outlawed caregivers and homegrows. They pushed tons of people underground.
Anyone who tells you cannibus is more addictive than alcohol should immediately be ignored. I used to sell liquor. It's a remarkably pernicious drug. Weren't these two women recently telling us how safe and effective the vaccine was a couple of years ago?
This
That’s because so many people don’t have to come from out of state or even across the country anymore .
True didn't even think about that at one time yeah they had everyone go in there
Also the taxes are so high that the black market flourishes.
The taxes are high in CO but the funking roads are paved perfectly!!
Who knew people don’t want to pay $80-$100+ for a 3.5 or a single pre-roll.
I think you're going to the wrong places. Ozs are available for less than $80.
You fail
I just got 2 ounces for $90 🤷. Pick up a Cannapages

Stop getting medical "advice" from podcast hosts.
Yeah, instead get medical advice from people who are paid by third parties to dispense that advice.

I finally wised up after 26 years. I hope you do too.
@@bestowisdomI stopped when I turned 24 it has been the best decision I’ve made for my mental health and my business is doing better. Who would’ve thought 😂
This is absolutely ridiculous and perfect example of correlation doesn’t equal causation. How many other things have changed since legalization that could cause or contribute to any of these findings?
I would argue that the continued decline of Quality of Life in America might be leading to a rise in suicides.
Right. Same states that legalize drugs first also tend to have lots of sanctuary cities and lax DAs in general.
This is just the market working. After the orignal boom, the demand is leveling out. For crime, I would be curious how much the rate has inccreased in urban vs. rural areas in Colorado, since a mostly urban increase would seem in line with other big cities in recent years. As for suicide rates, that is largely a failure of adequate mental health intervention.
Its too expensive
Grow your own.
Was there anything that could have skewed the stats between, say, 2020 and 2022?
It went up 500,000,000% so it can drop 16% 😂
That’s what I was thinking
All of a sudden I think I understand Jessica much better.
No free market, just big marijuana colluding to keep prices high.
We, the people, are keeping prices high so the black market people can make a living with tax free dope.
What are you talking about, prices in Colorado are down 50-65% since legalization. Back around 2000 a black market eighth would cost you $60, now you can get it legally for around $20. This isn't even accounting for all the inflation since then.
You have to shop around in CO you can get some bomb prices you just have to look at the on line menus to see prices and do you own home work
Willie nelson has been smoking for over 50 years. Hes healthy and lives a full life. Its like anything in life, how you handle it is not how someone else may handle it.
The classic "but my grandpa Bob drinks a gallon of whiskey a day, in between two packs of cigs, and he's 154!!" argument.
@user-vu8he9kc5v that is correct, it's true there are people who are life long smokers who live past healthy individuals. Genetics matter imo
@@user-vu8he9kc5vpot and alcohol are not the same thing genius.
If a person is driving recklessly, they should get a ticket. Period. Regulating marijuana so there's standard levels of THC across brands should also be a thing. But if my sciatica is making it painful to move, I would much rather take a store bought gummy so I can vacuum the house than drink or take a prescription opiod.
Seriously, I'd rather smoke less than try to wean myself off a prescription I can't afford...I have seen people I know not be able to leave the couch if they are missing their meds, I dont have that much faith in our healthcare industry
THC levels isn't a problem because most places over inflate the potency anyway. If you don't smoke often don't buy potent stuff, same way with alcohol 🤷
I have been in legal cannabis for the last 16 years, the last 10 here in Colorado. The decline is due to over production during the pandemic when people were stuck at home with nothing to do. too many licenses were given out to address a what turns out to be a false market need. Also as more states legalize the market shifts and right sizes based on the states population and need. This is a market correction and more of a realistic view of what is sustainable long term.
Again over saturation of a market isn't a surprise 😂.
Wow. Marijuana associated with schizophrenia? This is beyond bizarre among many other points raised. Study after study shows that marijuana is a borderline wonder drug. Personally, I am not a marijuana user but the studies clearly show, it is massively positive for society. No matter, if there is danger, post the potential potholes and give people a choice. For that matter, do it for all drugs.
Probably because what they sell is that synthetic junk.
Jess is being careful about acknowledging her lifestyle. She doesn't want to go the way of Bri. 😂
upvote but don't think it was bri's "lifestyle" that did it, unless anti-zionism is a lifestyle.
The question remains is it more or less dangerous to the individual user then tobacco or alcohol and the answer still remains it’s not, if you wanna talk about like a carcinogen level in marijuana smoke, there’s about seven while things like bacon when fried has 12-14 carcinogens cannabis also has properties that helps fight against carcinogens with smoked or consumed so there that too
That's only the smoked variety, which fewer and fewer people partake in
I don't care if it's more or less dangerous than some other substance. If someone wants to use it, they will, so they should be allowed to. I am so sick of nanny-state medicalized BS.
You two have made such good points about this important topic. Especially the point about self medicating and the health care system. I always enjoy your episodes!
Why wouldn’t the people just grow their own?
You can but it's not super easy yet. Lot of steps to avoid mold & dry/cure properly. It's like asking cigarette smokers to grow tobacco. Eventually indoor tent grows will be automated, along with drying/curing. Then more people will grow it for sure. Right now it's still an art & a lot of effort to get it right.
For an indoor grow you're looking at 900-1200 for the tent/light controls setup. And a room to place a 4x4 tent in lol
@@HST33 go on… lol.
@Hellowakeup Anyone reading this, it's a lot of fun. Big communities of people who volunteer their time free & will step you through growing it. Just type in "cannabis grow forum" in a search engine lol
Increases may have happened with population increase. I know when legalization happened in Colorado, population growth went through the roof.
I want to go back and vote “no”, but hindsight is 20/20.
I was on the western slope... I noticed zero change. The front range is trash and has been trash for my entire life.
@@Orenoryoriyou would eventually get out voted anyway
@@treefrog3560 I would be fine with it eventually; I would have rather not been the first to legalize it. All of the ballyhoo definitely brought people to Colorado due to it being the first state with legalized recreational.
Jess and Amber are both a breath of fresh air today when compared to this new woman who badgers Robby. Wish Amber had more screentime, she is always so eloquent, and her arguments always well researched
It was ok seemed like canned call and answers to me..
Those crime rates aren't taking into account the massive increase across the country from the pandemic onward. The whole country has seen higher than ever crime rates.
Propaganda. Is it pressure from the alcohol industry?
not a peep about alcohol. Interesting, isn't it.
I don't know, maybe intoxicants are bad in general and should be less socially acceptable and tolerated?
thank God Nayyera isn't here today
This channel is almost finished. It’s sad
Regulation hurts an industry and we’re sitting here like “hmm what could’ve happened here?”
No more narco tourism if its available closer to home. Also, the legal flower is more expensive than the black market.
Correlations? Immigrants should be factored in. plus about ten other things, but this report sounds like "science" but no real studies have been done. Just opinions instead.
Immigration? No, this is just basic economics and short sighted capitalist thinking their business was special
you need an ID that scans to get into a CO dispensary though.

Chronic use causes psychosis.
People use Marijuana to self medicate for alot of physical conditions as well because they are not being effectively treated by the American medical system.
Or maybe they just like doing it.
Every government regulated cannabis operation/strain in North America (both Canada and USA) has nanotechnology patents pertaining to it.
There’s your answer.
The cannabis folks are not into biometric digital convergance enslavement systems.
Huh? I just grow my own.
So you wouldn’t be part of the statistic. Hope those seeds are from a strain at least 10 yrs old!
🙄
You didn’t look it up, did ya?
Don't forget street drugs, including marijuana, are safer than pharmaceuticals.😊❤
exactly. how many thousands of people die per year because they took prescription or otc drugs as directed?! personal anecdote, almost died from adverse reaction to seizure meds, but never once had extreme reaction to cannabis.
The projections were ALWAYS pie in the sky for nearly all of the states that have legalized it.
Population growth has been extreme so it makes sense for all those stats to go up.
Yes the long term effects are evident here.
They both made very great points. I never thought I could agree with Jessica on anything but her opinion here and on the buckstop ruling are ones I agree with
I wish Feds would legalize
Not here in Michigan where sales are still high.
In Indiana it's still illegal and you can't even get it legally from a doctor either!
Ketamine and shrooms are the thing
CO suicides have always been a problem in the mountain towns. More people moving there is causing the increase.
Fridays are my new fav.
i know exactly what you're saying
I enjoy Rising Fri thanks to Amber
Which puts the lie to the runaway addiction propaganda that was used to prevent legalization for years.
the bm discount is real and exponential
That’s because New Mexico legalized it
Yes, please do compare the negatives between alcohol, tobacco, and cannabis. You will find cannabis is the safest.
Why is Jessica so out of focus?
Is Jessica bonkers? Street drugs are nowhere near as cheap as prescription drugs.
I personally know multiple people who use mj long term with no brain damage.
It's a lot cheaper to see a psychiatrist than to keep taking marijuana. The psychiatrist will prescribe you a drug within one or two sessions. The marijuana may not even address the problem itself and will drain the pocket book every week or every day for years, causing all sorts of other negative issues, from lack of motivation to addiction to schizophrenia. The bill from those problems can be tremendous.
I quit cannabis in all forms a few years ago and have never felt better. It was just a crutch.
Did you quit drinking too
OK JESSICA, IDENTIFY THE CAUSAL FACTOR?
What about the alcohol stats? I know those stats are way higher
kudos to the reporter admitting that she has had experiences with Marijuana that were dangerous for her mental health.
The way our Government treats the people is dangerous for mental health also so what's your point???
Marijuana is just not good for you. We always knew that.
That's a very thin correlation.
How is this a bad thing?
It for sure increased DuI related injuries
I think texting is the cause I see it every day in CO not puffing..
Refer madness
Times a million loll
Ah, Marijuana. Can't say I haven't used it, but I can say it's not good for you mentally.
I'll be part of the new studies 😂
They don’t have enough people as California
Crime and suicide could be correlated to lock downs an economic crisis!
They could also be correlated with water consumption. If you drink water, you'll probably die at some point in the future. Everyone who has ever died has drank water at least once.
The world has become a shitshow... that might have something to do with the statistics. Our lifestyles are totally dependent on the industrial system to cover our needs, and the ability to take care of one's self is nonexistent in most Americans. We have become slaves to the system, and we have done it to ourselves.
Questionable causation and if you have a brain you should know that. The state needs to be compared to all states including those without medical cannabis.
Pandemic isolation, losses by the young generation as a result, and upticks in isolation and overall substance abuse along w financial disenfranchisement of this generation more to blame. How about the loathing and isolation of the majority of young men. Indoctrination of the women in the dating pool against them, and known effects on development and dopamine by social media on developing brains NOT THE ISSUE???
You can by off the street cheaper and itsnot 🔥

Although marijuana is legal & can be used as a medicine, it’s self-regulated, no one is handing out prescriptions, so over medicating can be an issue, not often thought about.
this is true, but can be applied to any over the counter drugs, like aspirin or ibuprofen too
Jessica obviously the sun burn is from ice cream. Jkjk
