OH THIS IS SO SO 80's music my daughter loves the 80's music .I ve found all my Albums from the 80s ,cant waite to show it to my little girl .I MISS THE 80,S SO MUCH .87 IN LA WAS A BLAST .
Icehouse, Man of Colours. Man, back in the day, I played this album out! I haven't listened to it in years. Thanks for uploading it. It was so good to hear it again tonight ❤️
The Ice House album that I first heard was 1986s "Measure for Measure" I was 16 and lived in Houston at the time. Everyone that I knew was listening to hair metal, country, and Bruce S. (not that those are at all bad) but Ice House was a new find for me a life-changing experience, in 1988 when "Man of Colours" was released, they were all over the radio, by then I was an old pro at everything IH. At the turn of the century, I moved to New Zealand and the first thing I did was hit the record shops and buy all the studio albums by IH. Iva Davies is a musical genius!
I agree about Iva Davies. and something I read a few years ago about him now makes perfect sense. Iva was notoriously difficult to "get along with" because he was such a perfectionist... and thus the constant changes in the line up. Every album has a whole new line up of musicians.. and no more then a few stuck around long enough to do multiple albums. It's hard to have friends when you're a genius AND a perfectionist.
My mom had this tape around 1988 when I was in grammar school. It became one of my all time favorite albums. 45 years old now and many of these songs are on my current playlists. Thank you for the upload!
I still have my cassette tape of this album that I also bought back in 1988 when I lived in Asia. I brought it with me when I moved to the US and now here in the UK 😊
Ooh man, I still remember finding this album in my parents CD rack somewhere in the 90s when I was around 8 years old. Played it over and over again on my diskman I got for my birthday. This album formed my music taste into rock music when I grew up. Such a great album!👌
I wandered into a random Record Shop in a town outside Cleveland OH in 2004, at 19. Found this album but it was a European Release that had extended cuts of many hits outside of the typical track listing. I was head over heels overjoyed about it! I ran up to the cashier, he looks down at my selection and anxiously says "This is going to be legendary some day". I had to have my last open heart surgery that summer. My life would alter itself in more ways than one, just had to wait it out! Icehouse on full blast in my Trans/Am sure made it feel easier to take. Still today, I hold this album dearly in my collection.
Great story.....picking up an Icehouse album in Ohio after all those years. How is the heart? Back in the day, me and my mates would camp out in the central Oz desert pre-running for the Finke Desert Race and listen to bands like Icehouse under the splendor of the Milkyway. Loved it.
Icehouse - Man Of Colours (1987) 1. Crazy 4.48 2. Electric Blue 4.38 3. My Obsession 4.07 4. Man of Colours 5.09 5. Heartbreak Kid 5.18 6. The Kingdom 4.51 7. Nothing Too Serious 3.25 8. Girl in the Moon 4.00 9. Anybody's War 4.05 10. Sunrise 5.44
Cruising the highways in downtown Portland OR, playing this thru my helmet on CD, riding my GS1000 purring along...that guitar opening on "Crazy"...never forget, simpler times...
@@dantesanford7065 It was a 79 GS1000...with the cast wheels, not the old spokes. First full-size machine was a Suzuki GT500, A? two-stroke twin, very steetable engine...finally after a long ride & I went to kick it over & it was seized...got it broken free & immediately sold it, it was making a thrashing, soon to explode sounds. Next was a 72 Kawasaki H2 750 triple...that got stolen.Third, the 1000,...Third, I restored an abandoned GS1150ES, the half-fairing version...as a mechanic among other things I found, I popped the head off, one dead cylinder, low compression, cleaned up the valve seats & rode it for 2-3 years.
What is interesting about Electric Blue is John Oates helped write the song. Iva was not sure if he wanted to record it. Well John indicated if Icehouse was not going to record it, Hall indicated he would do it. Iva and Icehouse recorded it and the rest is history!
I just freeze the beginning and the ending of Electric Blue is too poignant it should be everyone's lifetime goal to achieve that feeling that emotion true bliss
How am I just now getting into this????? I remember these guys on the radio but never bought their stuff. Thank you undiscovered 80s for making my 50th year on Earth a bit more fun!!!
such an good album, Electric Blue, Crazy, Heartbreak Kid are so iconic. Man of Colours is so underrated and has such sad toning and definitely reminds you of a time in some place, somewhere.
When this album came out I was in the process of breaking up my marriage to date a woman with 'electric blue' eyes, so this pretty much became the theme album of my divorce. Not the highest point of my life, but the album rocks.
Saw IceHouse at the Paramount Theater in Denver Colorado on the MoC tour. Such a fantastic show and song set. After that tour they just kind of faded off the world scene and went back to Australia. Great Southern Land didn't really go over well in the US, and that was that. I guess they still do occasional special appearance benefit shows down under, but kinda quiet otherwise. I consider myself lucky to have seen them at the height of their fame.
Ohhh the 80s. When sex was still fun, everyone knew which bathroom to use, and big hair ruled the night.... and one of the most under-rated bands ever - ICEHOUSE. Man of Colours and Measure for Measure are both musical masterpieces.

молодость в нашей памяти навсегда.
Pure class probably one of the most perfect albums of all time.
I agree completely. A "Two sider" as we called 'em.... meaning you couldn't just play one side of the LP...
@@mikeehrmantraut4797 Agree completely :)
Hardly perfect by any stretch. Nothing got interesting until about track 5 or 6 onward.
@@neoeyebeleave totally disagree with you
Yep
Bought this album on vinyl in 1987, still got it, I have never tired of it. Great stuff.
34 years later and this album is still amazing!

I LOVE THIS CHANNEL 🖤✨🤗👑🏆
Is it just me or does this guy have the perfect voice for a song.
...yeah, Ivor Davies has killer vocals....and can play 19 instruments including the Oboe.
@@PaulStallion The mullet is coming back.... just so you know.

Good song hey little girl
Yes..he should join a band maybe

Its really sad how few people know this band. Up here in Finland hardly anybody. Nobody makes music like this anymore.
Just discovered them, man. As big fan of that era in music, I'm truly delighted.
