    thanks for checking out this quick lighting breakdown. i think a big takeaway from this is the importance of location. and how with just some basic lighting tools (softbox, backlight, etc), you can elevate what might be a pretty basic looking video. hope it helps you in some way. let me know any specific questions below and i'll hit you back :)

    Do you think Negative Fill would've helped a lot in this situation, especially with all that sun spilling in from every direction?

    • @blasepivovar
      @blasepivovar  7 месяцев назад

      I think so. If I would have had the budget for extra crew on this one, I would have tried throwing up a bunch of negative fill behind the cameras as well as on the shadow side out of frame

    • @blasepivovar
      @blasepivovar  7 месяцев назад +2

      Yep great question. Some of the interviews were normal q&a style. Others were scripted but then we put bullet points to help nail specific points. Was requested by the client but since the video was not one where they were speaking directly to the camera we had it off to the side in front of the interviewer so our eye line wouldn’t change if people were / were not using it. Hope that helps!

    Adding a second layer of diffusion with the 5 in 1 reflector is a really good tip! Just curious, do you know what the difference is between the Nanlite FS series vs the FC series?

    • @blasepivovar
      @blasepivovar  7 месяцев назад +2

      Thanks! Yeah I think the FC is just their in between line they are still building out between the FS and Forzas. They have a 500w light in the FC line (none in the FS line) but then they also the have the power ballast w two power cords. Fc line also has the one knob tilt vs two on the FS. Other than those things and aesthetics, imagine they are pretty similar

    • @jacob.peterson
      @jacob.peterson 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@blasepivovar Thanks for responding so quickly! I've been looking into the FS line after watching your videos and didn't know if there was a huge difference between the two line ups but they seem very similar. Now it's just weighing whether to get the FS 300 or forza 300

    • @blasepivovar
      @blasepivovar  7 месяцев назад +1

      @@jacob.peterson Feel that. Abvisouly depends on what type of work you are doing and what you are looking for in a light but for the price, for me it's the FS Line all the way at $300. You could buy three for the price of the Forza

    Beautiful light and breakdown!
    1 question, in the main shot with the 2 people, you didn't mind, composition wise, to have that concrete wall going "through" their heads? Not sure if it was possible, but raising the tripod a bit more could have eliminated it?

    • @blasepivovar
      @blasepivovar  7 месяцев назад

    Always an extreme help!! I don't think you're a very judgmental person, however, would you consider looking over some of your audiences videos and giving a critique and pointers on how we can get better? As well as pointers on how to build a portfolio that gets us into the door with clients? I get clients few and far between. I know, I can do composition and lighting. However, it's hard to get work when you don't have a lot of that thing (niche) set as a portfolio. Anyway, sorry about the rant. Thank you for the videos!!! I love what you produce, your humble spirit and approach to filmmaking. and I really respect your opinion and thought process on how you present products to us/ your audience.

      @blasepivovar  7 месяцев назад +1

    • @_trismegistus
      @_trismegistus 7 месяцев назад

      @@blasepivovar i had trouble with it just stopping autofocus until I manually trigger it to refocus. It may or may not recover at that point. Also wildly abrupt exposure changes and defocusing during zoom. It's usually OK as a series of primes, but overall the 16-55 has just been better in every single department!

    • @blasepivovar
      @blasepivovar  7 месяцев назад +2

      @_trismegistus interesting. yeah the focus change while zooming is a thing. I haven’t experienced aperture changes and the AF has been pretty rock solid. It feels pretty responsive to the AF custom settings so maybe those were giving you issue? I’m still tweaking mine depending on the scenario. Glad to hear you have found a lens that works for you 🙏🏼

      Interesting. To me it looked better than having both full faces in frame (distracting) or filling the frame with one face (too intense, close, dramatic). Final edit will do some scaling on each as I always shoot a little wide to have some flex in post. Appreciate the thoughts.

      @@blasepivovar I'm speaking from the viewer perspective. I think I've never seen 2 person interview when 1 person has been cut in two. But I'm not watching tons of interviews and usually people in the shot sits either in front of each other or at least a bit towards each other.
