Join me as we Latvia welcomes home their Hockey Heroes.
To mark the occasion, the country cancelled school and work and the country headed to the capital to greet their national hockey team.
We get right in the middle of it and it is an experience I will never forget.
We meet the locals that are feeling proud and ready to party.
Hockey is the number one sport in Latvia, and this is a huge deal, watch to see how this made Riga an even greater city than it already is.

As a Canadian hockey fan whose been spoiled by many championship victories and golds (including this year), I am happy for Latvian fans 🇨🇦🤝🇱🇻 so many years of hard work, blood, sweat and tears from players, coaches, fans and their families that helped get them there. This is what hockey is all about, the hard work, love and dedication for this amazing sport. Historic feat for Latvian hockey ❤️

Latvians go "torille". Just like us finns do when we win gold in ice hockey. The first time we won it was like a national holiday :D Crazy party! I'm so super happy for Latvia winning the bronze medal and perhaps you'll get to compete for the golden medal soon!

@@J.E.E yeah I agree there’s so much baggage that comes with our flag and country, so being British/English and patriotic comes with certain accusations if you get what I mean, it’s a shame. But I absolutely love the Baltic states and how they don’t take any shit from China and other bully countries. They have been through some crap as well as Ukraine. That place cannot catch a break. I actually like the Soviet architecture, war memorials and stuff but u can understand why they don’t.

@@ines_uk Yes, it is. Haven't you seen India? I don't want Latvia to become like India, it can happen if Latvia lets them stay. I clearly heard they are tourists/students. The other guy looks like he's from the Middle East, Swedish in passport only lol. but when I watch videos about Latvia I see lots of Indians in the background. Baltic countries, their people and culture are almost in extinction, they should protect themselves. Latvia for Latvians, England for the English, India for Indians, why is that controversial? 🙄

@@artursruseckis4242 calculation method is not exactly a championship tournament... there can be many calculation methods, such as to reverse actual tournament score table and assume last one won, etc.
Just imagine if populations cared this much for TRUE freedom, instead of these kinds of distractions.. "Bread and circuses" as it's stated!
So why do you seek attention for such high and honored thing as TRUE freedom in a such distracted environment. People are proud of their team and what they achieved in this tournament. Maybe if you ,TRUE freedom preachers, fought for what you preach as this Latvian team did, you would also get the crowd cheering for you

They can make riots and destruction, but they cant make 50000 people to go into city streets and do anything peaceful and happy like here.
