When One Player Mode Is Turned On:
This perfectly captures the feel of the original. The magic of the game and the series in 1985. This is so cool!
My only complaint is that the Mario in this video doesn't have the original power up system. If you get a Fire Flower as Small Mario, you just grow big, and when you get hit with a power up, (any power up that isn't Star btw) you turn into small Mario. Otherwise, I agree with what you said, it's a Gem.

This is a visual masterpiece, honestly speaking.
Whoever was responsible for the spritework and animation clearly put *a ton* of effort into this. Every bit is just very animate, and it still translate extremely well with the faithful color limitations and pixel resolution!

It’s not easy to make something 2D, feel like it’s 3D. But you just did that! 🤩
Tip: when making something like this, always add shadows. And not like realistic ones, just have the light coming from above.

Nintendo had the idea of doing something like this for Super Mario Bros. 3
(This was before development even started, they were still brainstorming ideas)
However, there were multiple issues with it (particularly the sense of depth) and it was ultimately decided the game would be a side-scroller, just like the first two
