Yep, they're definitely listening to what people want and adding those features in too, and I am here for it! Hope you get to give the new ODRs a play soon!
Hope so! It's such a great pedal. (I've just been filming an in-depth video focusing on it so it's been my main drive this past week.) Apparently it hits stores in Europe next week, so not long to wait!
I really liked this a lot. I’ve owned the mini and am looking forward to the mini 2. I was surprised that even at full bass the mini 2 seemed to have less bass than the original mini. Thanks for putting in the work!!!
Thanks a lot! Yep, I noticed that too... the original mini really has a bunch of low end in it. I love that for a Tele but even then it can be a bit boomy at times. With humbuckers I find it quite hard to use though, and that's no longer an issue at all with the mini 2 :)
I've owned the odr1 silver version for years and love it. I thought it's time for my son to have one as well. Wasn't sure which one to get but now, after watching your review I have decided on the mini2. They all sound very similar to me over my speaker. Cheers for another very good video. I think your content is always very informative and I have purchased stuff on the back of that.
Nice comparison. I could happily live with any of them on my pedal board, they all sound great. I missed the bass cut on the mini 1 but that's nothing my EQ can't handle. Built-in it's more handy though when playing gigs.
Cheers my friend! Yeah, the Mini 2 is kind of where I'm leaning at the moment, because the Bass Cut knob is easiest to dial in, plus there's the size/price factor. I love the Gain Boost on the ODR-1X but I have other boosts/drives that I can stack with the Mini to achieve that as well. Decisions decisions... 😉 because you also can't ignore the fact that the original Mini at €50 is an absolute steal too!
Great demo! The new ord-1x is supposed to have the same circuit as the gold anniversary but with the added boost and true bypass features…. Gonna have to pick up this new model for the boost even though I already have the gold 👍🏾
I bought the normal ODR-1 back when the only alternative was the standard ODR1-mini. I wanted the bass cut switch, however, the effect is so small that I never even could hearwhich way it was set. This video seems to confirm that. On my speakers with the telecaster I don't hear any difference at all. That said, the bass cut knob really is a good addition.
Interesting. I think the difference is more noticeable with humbuckers, and also more so in person when you're playing through a speaker in the room. Hope you get to try one of the newer ones for yourself soon and see if they can convince you! Cheers for watching 😊
Yes, it's incredible. I've just finished filming my dedicated video on that to release next week. It is close to a Bluesbreaker in a way, but they break up a little differently the more you dime then. They stack together marvelously!
Well with the original ODR-mini you'll have all the low end all the time - which might be ideal for bass ;) But, if you do want the option to thin out the sound ever, the the ODR-mini 2 is the way to go. The Bass Cut knob I find to be incredibly practical on guitar, and I'm sure you'll appreciate the extra versatility with the bass too. The new one is not that much more money either! Both are well under €99 over here in Europe...
I need to try the Way Huge then! I've been playing the ODR-1X a lot recently though and it's amazing. The extra gain boost is a bit of a game changer too! I'm going to release my dedicated video on that pedal next week.
Answers all my questions... does it have a replaceable power switch? I had a ODR but the power switch crapped out on a virtually new pedal. Couldn't find a replacement switch.
Thanks! Hmm, about the power switch I'm not sure - hopefully the Nobels team are reading this and can provide an answer. I'll try and remember to ask them next time I speak to them too, but often going direct to the maker is the only way with things like this.
You expained about the bufferd or true bypass in your video but i don't understand why you place them all in series? if there is any important difference it's now inaudibel Love my (simple?) ODR-1 on 18V it's always on my pedalboard an compaires with nothing of my other overdrives
My question is, Are the normal sized pedals still traditional through hole construction or Cheap SMT builds like the mini pedals. All Boss pedals have been SMT since 2014. All the big corporate stuff is now $12.00 SMT crap as well. A eye is sheity quality.
Ooh, I'd go with the Mini 2! Just for the added Bass Cut knob... you never know when that might come in handy! Otherwise they're pretty much identical.
Funny, I kinda knew of these pedals (kinda being the keyword), but only started looking at them a couple of days ago when I saw the mini pedal at €50. I also saw the ODR-1X and mini2 when looking up the pedal, but didn't realise they were new (they seem to be available for sale already, by the way). Funny to find out now that they just released those 2 this month, exactly when I started looking at them. Although your video was very useful, I'm still not sure if I should get the original mini for €50,, the mini2 for €80, or just wait and get the ODR-1X eventually. I feel like with the current offerings, you're best off with either a mini/mini2 or 1x; the original especially seems to be pretty redundant (at least for most use cases), with the mini2 having the better bass cut.
Ha ha, good timing on your part anyway! And yeah, it's a good question. For me, if I was buying one and it was going to be my first Nobels, I'd be between the two new ones - the ODR-1X and the Mini 2. To be honest, the Mini 2 actually has a bass cut knob that's easier to control, and with the smaller footprint (and price!) I'd lean towards that... unless you want the Gain Boost option or True Bypass. Then it's got to be the ODR-1X. That said, if you've got €50 in your pocket, the original Mini is amazing for that!
@@RichWordsMusic You're totally right on the 2 new ones. For now, I've held off on it; came across another pedal that I could get for a decent price (MXR FOD, €136 brand-new), so that took out the remaining budget I had 😂 The ODR-Mini2 only seemed to be pre-orders anyway, so I'll just wait a bit longer for that one.
I guess if you don't get on with it personally it doesn't matter how cheap it is 😉 But maybe you'd like the new ODR with the bass cut? I do find that gives you lots more options.
Sorry, this is just a quick overview! I'll be releasing my dedicated videos for each of the new pedals in the next week or so, and those will go into way more detail and depth. They'll have much longer dedicated loops and playing sections so you can really hear all the pedals can do!

great stuff Nobels!
@@fatseaturtle Thank you very much :-)
Cheers guys! More to come 😎
Thank you for the great and informative report on our new pedal. Always detailed and of high quality! Best regards from the Nobels team
Cheers guys! I'm loving the new generation of the ODR family :)
Man, Nobles fixing all the things that made us buy all the ORD-clones! So good. Looking forward to buying some more ODR’s 🎉🎉
Yep, they're definitely listening to what people want and adding those features in too, and I am here for it! Hope you get to give the new ODRs a play soon!
I just placed my order for the mini 2. Hopefully it ships in the next couple of weeks. Thanks again for the in depth review!!!
Hope so! It's such a great pedal. (I've just been filming an in-depth video focusing on it so it's been my main drive this past week.) Apparently it hits stores in Europe next week, so not long to wait!
Killer overdrive.. Excellent vid as always
They are indeed! And thanks as usual for watching, I really appreciate it 👍
@@RichWordsMusic thank you for the killer material

0:41 Need?? Need?🤣 I gave up telling myself that fib years ago. Thanks for doing this video - really helpful.
Ha ha, I'm still telling myself that ;) Gotta justify the endless new pedals somehow! Cheers for watching, glad you enjoyed it!

Probably my favorite! So good...

Yep, exactly! It does sound dead on and if you really want that Gain Boost the ODR-1X will be a must-have 😎
Samsies
ODR mini2 sounds good! For my ears is the best!
It's an awesome pedal! I've just been recording a dedicated video for it (coming out next week) and it's super versatile too.

cool, might get that new mini-2
I reckon that one's going to be the top seller!
I have the mini and it's a bit noisy. Is that any one else's experience?
The Mini 2 ist around 77 € in Germany these days. That's a main reason to purchase this version.
Yep, such a great pedal and a great price as well. I think the Mini 2 will be the top seller over time.
The new mini with the bass cut is a great update. How would you say it compares to a bluesbreaker?
Yes, it's incredible. I've just finished filming my dedicated video on that to release next week. It is close to a Bluesbreaker in a way, but they break up a little differently the more you dime then. They stack together marvelously!
@RichWordsMusic oh great. I will watch that one next week. Cheers Rich.
Is the gold one also dodgy smt?
If I'm using this with a bass, would the original Mini be preferable to the Mini2?
Well with the original ODR-mini you'll have all the low end all the time - which might be ideal for bass ;) But, if you do want the option to thin out the sound ever, the the ODR-mini 2 is the way to go. Odr1 X or ODR1 Original with bass cut... Would give me all I need...
I have the Way Huge STO which beats them all. It's an ODR1 pedal

Mini 1 or 2 for bass?
Ooh, I'd go with the Mini 2! Just for the added Bass Cut knob... you never know when that might come in handy! Otherwise they're pretty much identical.
Is it just me, or does the ODR-mini just sound more raspy and less transparent?
I agree, it does... it's boomier too, with the most low end out of all of them. The ODR-mini 2 rectifies all this very well, I think!
Funny, I kinda knew of these pedals (kinda being the keyword), but only started looking at them a couple of days ago when I saw the mini pedal at €50.
