    Saw the guest and wasn't entirely sure how to feel about it given Prince's history and openly stated philosophies. I'm glad you didn't softball this interview. I got a straight up chubby at the 38 minute mark. Not giving him any respite and holding him to the question with out hesitation. Heaps of respect for you on this one. Keep this quality content coming, Boss!

    Great interview. Hope there is a sequel. Some YT comments are dumb. Stumpf's mild pushback to Prince is not sacrilege. It made the interview interesting. There are 100s of other interviews with 0 pushback where he says the exact same things. The guys saying we need Prince for President or Secretary of State in the Shawn Ryan Show's comments are the same ones overreacting here. There are numerous news articles on Prince claiming he's considered a traitor by the larger intelligence community of the US directly quoting former US veteran colleagues of Prince's companies. I'd love to see Prince back on Cleared Hot and be asked difficult questions next time. He's a big boy, he'll be able to handle it.

    Great episode. Full of good points to dig in on next time around. I didn’t think the line on PDC use was drawn clear enough by EP.
    I understand the reasons why but believe a clear line does need to be drawn. I think PDCs have a role to play just not the very pointy tip of the spear. The fear with an over reliance
    On PDCs is that they continue to grab a bigger and bigger piece of the war fighting pie and eventually begin to heavily influence policy or even decide it. It becomes a self perpetuating money making machine from policy to action to the bank. Maybe not unlike what we have today..ha

    About the East India Company point, let me just say this-
    You cannot justify occupying a foreign country and literally killing millions because you unintentionally (not intentionally as Erik makes it sound) solved a few local scuffles and problems.
    It's like saying the Americans should've welcomed British occupation because of priests touching kids or apartheid.
    Nations mature and solve their problems on their own accord.
    It's when one nation's problem's start impacting another that a war/occupation is justified against the belligerent.

    Not a fan of EP. He talked like he was the smartest guy in the room and never listened/conversed with Andy. His ideas sound good in theory, but IMO, not practical. Did he realize who Andy was and what he did? EP was talking to Andy like Andy wasn't part of an ELITE special operations unit with tons of actual, hands on, boots-on-ground FID experience....

    @christopherbrennan4858 5 лет назад +7

    Andy, thanks for pushing back a few times on some of Erik's positions. My opinion is that he is advocating a dangerous and cynical path. I would argue all who think that Mr. Prince's methods are the better path should read Jeremy Scahill's Blackwater, alongside Erik's 2014 book Civilian Warriors. Both men have their agenda, and while I personally find Scahill's a more attractive agenda I think looking at both view points is valuable if we want to try and find a sense of "truth."

    • @walperstyle
      @walperstyle 5 лет назад +6

      What some call an 'agenda' others see a service that cuts past a lot of red tape. The US military is starting to end up like what we have up here in Canada. Where every little step you take is being judged by some civilian lawyer looking to make a name for themselves. Contracting got past a lot of the red tape that allowed some warfighters to function how they were trained. Can it go bad? absolutely, but lets face it, it can go bad both ways. Nothing sucks more than watching ethnic cleansing going on while waiting for permission from the UN to engage.

    • @christopherbrennan4858
      @christopherbrennan4858 5 лет назад +1

      I would disagree with the premise of your statement. Just because previous attempts have failed to elicit positive outcomes does not mean that any alternative solution offered "can't be worse." Also, we would need to define what would constitute better.
      I personally agree with the point Andy kept coming back to which is that the role of armed conflict ought to be the domain of the nation state actor operating under the flag of their country. Happy to have a deeper conversation about that point if someone actually cares to, feel free to DM.
