Thank you! I am an old dinosaur who loses brain cells trying to set up a cell phone. Yesterday my new Samsung Galaxy arrived and my brain is fried. I had a terrible time answering a call today and hope this single tap setting helps. I'm always so happy to find RUclips videos for exactly what I need!

Thank GOD! This was driving me crazy. I would swipe, up, down, left, right, swipe slow, swipe fast.... Ugh... At least 50% of the time, I could not get it to answer before I missed the call. Stupidest thing ever that you don't just tap to answer, but even worse that the swipe simply does not work. You saved the day. Thanks!

Thank god for this video. My elderly mother bought a new LG Android phone and had trouble answering the phone by swiping answer button. She had no problem whenever she occasionally used my iPhone, so I thought she would have no problem with a new Android. But I was wrong. Even after working with her for over and hour she couldn't answer a call consistently, and was considering returning it. The menu's were slightly different, but I was able to figure out my way through the menu to set it up so she can just one tap the answer button.
Not sure who came up with the swiping concept, but it is horrible. I even had trouble getting swiping to work.

Thanks for posting this. I recently lost the ability to answer my phone by tapping the button and couldn't find the correct procedure to reactivate that function. The posts on Google were all missing the step to turn on the "Assistant Menu". It was very frustrating because I had already turned on the "single tap to swipe" (as Google recommended) but it didn't restore the feature until the assistant menu was tuned back on (as you explained in this video). I appreciate the help! Keep up the great work! :)

But I did find a way. Under the same setting where the Single tap to swipe was set, I selected "show as and edge icon" and i changed the size from medium to small. Now its no longer in my way as I don't use the edge icons. Hope that helps someone who can't get rid of the assistant

Just as important as knowing how to set up the tap method which I learned a while back is getting rid of the accessibility Assistant menu icon as it was always getting in the way of doing anything else on the phone and I always had to move it. As you mention it is very annoying. Thank you for explaining that part as I was at the point of getting rid of the Tap feature. The hiding of the Assistant menu icon is working on my S9 Plus here in Canada … I see that some are commenting that you can’t do that any longer so maybe it is phone provider or country dependant. Without being able to hide that icon I don’t feel the Tapping feature is worth it and it would be better to use the Volume Up technique. Thanks for the help.

    • @akaCamo
      @akaCamo 3 года назад

Edit update. After just doing a Samsung software upgrade I can’t tap and hold to hide the Assistant menu. I found this solution online.
After turning on the Assist mode and Single tap mode, go back to Settings and Apps > tap 3 dots > tap Show system apps > tap Accessibility > scroll down to Advanced and tap Appear on top > Turn off Allow permission > finally tap Force stop.
This will have to be done every time you restart the phone but at least it is a way to get rid of that Assistant menu and keep the Tap to Answer.

It should be a simple option that is easy to find in the phone app itself not having to sift through a bunch of settings options just to get to it and having to enable a menu that should literally have nothing to do with it. I think Samsung developers are on drugs when they come up with stuff like this.

Oh my goodness. I'm so grateful to you for this. I just missed two urgent calls from my doctor that were from a private number. I swiped and swiped and I could not get the phone to allow me to connect to the calls. Because it was from private number I can't phone the doctor back and I desperately needed to speak to him. I don't know why the button wouldn't work but this has happened before.
Now I set it up just to tap to answer. I am so hopeful that this won't happen again. I will not be able to speak with him until tomorrow, so this was absolutely not okay. I'm sure you have saved people a lot of grief if this fix works. Thank you?

    Great info.
    Quick question please.
I have one person in my contacts that my Galaxy A15 will not let me answer. When I tap the green answer icon (no matter how many times I tap) it just will not answer the incoming call, even thought that person is in my contacts.
It is very annoying and hoping you may no why my phone only does this on one of my contact's incoming calls.
I in NJ and the phone again is a Galaxy A15 model. Thanks in advance.

I don’t have a Samsung Galaxy phone running the latest software (I’m still using the Note 9) but I will be getting the S23 Ultra, and I need to find a way (if one exists) of hiding the assistant. I apologize for not being able to offer more of a solution at this time.

This video really helped me, thank you. Unfortunately on my A 11 I have to leave the "Assistant" on or I cannot tap to receive an incoming phone call. Also the "hide" feature that he shows here towards the end of the video does not work on the A 11. You have to go back into the settings to turn that off. When you do the "Tap" feature goes away also. So I guess I will have to live with "Assistant" always on the screen.
