Riley asked for cool tones...bottom bunk compliments that. Unfortunately the top bunk didn’t have all the same features as a bottom bunk and not all the room for extras.
Does nobody realize that it can roll if you dont step right?!?!? Its so unsafe and someone's going to be climbing up there and the noodle is going to turn and they are going to check their chin
why do almost all universities/colleges insist on using this ugly type of wood ?! its so nasty like ok i know its cheap and whatnot but paint it or something. the shade is anxiety inducing 😩😅
You shouldn't be putting things on a microwave. They are normally even stickers on it asking you to leave the top free. I put mine in a ikea shelf so I can put something on top of that
There is a BIG safety hazard in this makeover. The "daisy chain" that was done with the power strip on the bed is a fire hazard, so find a power strip with a long enough cord to actually reach the outlet.
shutupsavannah Because of specific types of command strips that can sometimes leave residue/tacky stuff, pull off paint/coatings, etc. (personally, I have had a number of bad command strips in my life, despite using them properly), my school had a rule against their use. Stick-on velcro is also likely to leave marks/residue. And college kids might get cheaper off-brand versions of this stuff that definitely do not have clean removal.
i do that with my bunk bed because my cousin has the same bed and he used it for 4 years. he has indentations in the bottom of his feet from climbing up and down the ladder so the pool noodle is ugly but helpful lol should of decorated it with some pretty duct tape on a metal bed
It looks great, and since Riley asked for cool tones, she got what she asked for and lower bunk just compliments it. And the over toilet shelving...ingenious! Who’d a thunk it...you of course. I really enjoy your videos. Keep them coming.
This looks amazing! Major, major props for rearranging the furniture. The previous setup was horrible and didn't seem like the place to get things done. The makeover seems conducive for work!
YAY! It’s here! Thanks for watching everybody!!! I am so sad that this little mini series is over 😭📚✨ Does anyone have other ideas for Space Lift mini series projects?! I want to make another one already! Thanks again for watching and for all the kind comments along the way 😊💛 (I read every one!)
Just throwing out ideas :- 1) makeover a senior's room (maybe an old age home) 2) fandom inspired rooms 3) tiny spaces lift (making a small space functional for multiple persons) 4) small functional office rooms (small business/freelancer etc)
I did the toilet shelf thing my first year of school and it was so convenient. Also I had a high lofted bed (same height as top bunk w/out the bottom bed) and I made it then used a different blanket so I never had to make it again.
I have a lofted bed in my dorm room and I can confirm-changing the sheets are a nightmare! it’s just a lot of shuffling and crouching down so you don’t hit your head!
take the top bunk mattress out of the frame and dress it on the floor. fitted sheet suspenders are a life saver and if able to you can take off the guard rails to slide the mattress back in place. usually they are just screwed in so it’s not too hard to put them back on when you’re done
jessbelle02 The amount charged for housing is exorbitant. But unless you are in #greekhousing it seems like often you get ugly, never cleaned carpets and this iron and orange wood or dingy furniture.
The zip ties on the power strip covered up the plugs... I’ve always used Velcro command strips to get power strips to stick to the side of my bed and it works really well!
You should do an office spaces mini series! But it would be cool to see different types of offices like a cubicle, home office, shared office, etc! I’d love to see that :) thanks for making these
Re how to make a top bunk bed, sew some strips of fabric to the far side of the sheets and comforter and tie them to the frame on the far side of the bed so that all you have to do is pull the sheets & comforter over on the near side and arrange them. It's true that this does restrict the movement of the sheets and comforter while you sleep, but not so much that it's a problem.
The easiest way to make a top bunk is to literally get zip-up sheets on it. It’s easy for her to make and keep tidy every day, and you only need to mess with it when you change your sheets.
Her “research” also failed to list; room requirements -what you can keep or not keep a according to the school rules. Room measurements- this is really important for function and storage solutions. How big each piece of furniture is, how large or small the bins and storage with each item need to be. Function- what do they need to do in the room, and what problems need to be fixed and addressed. Who is living in the room- and what types of design and colors they enjoy. Also; getting any kind of permission from the dorm or school to be able to come in and make changes and film. She is correct in saying that “decor” and making things pretty should be the absolute LAST thing on the list. Function needs to always be addressed first.
Ok to make the bed for a top bunk is to do it from the bottom if it has rods supporting it and not an entire cover below, but if it has it covered get something to support it up while you tuck
honestly putting the pool noodle on the ladder is gonna make it more slippery and dangerous especially with that duct tape and even more dangerous if ur wearing socks
What every good designer fails to show you usually (or rather they don’t show in each of the HGTV shows) is the sometimes MONTHS of research, measurements, supplies being ordered, walkthroughs and “fix conversations” that you usually need with the client. Because there’s no point in the room being beautiful, if it doesn’t solve any problems for the client or function on the daily. -This concept was something that the old “Trading Spaces” show either didn’t address, or a lot of times made fun of for the sake of “good tv”.
oh girl. I have a loft bed and TRUST ME there is an art to putting the sheets on. You kind of have to climb up on the bed to put the sheet on, and it's totally okay if the sheet isn't all the way tucked in on the sides. It's a good workout.
College sounds like prison - I’m lowkey glad I’m not in college sometimes. Granted, I’m going into a field that doesn’t require or need college - I’m really proud of everyone I know going through it!
Tip for putting the bedsheet on the top bunk: bring the mattress down and put the bedsheet on then put it back up, it sounds easy but doing it is hard.
For the top bunk I pull the matress a little over the end of the bed that way I can get the sheets on the side not on the wall and the other side I can put the sheets on that side from the bottom bunk
What my brother did for a top bunk is put his head down by the ladder so, when he made his bed he just had to pull the covers down little by little. So when he was finished he stood on the ladder and the bed looked fine. Lol.
Well I know how to make a top bunk Had this situation in a dollroom You have to separate the two bunks and level them lower and get a piece of wood and mkae it comfy Ready
6:40 you gotta crawl up there and really put your arms into tucking in the comforter and sheets. Way easier if you kneel on one part of the bed while making the other part and slowly switch sides as you go along. It's a process
I sleep in a top bunk because I share a room with my parents and bro, it's way to hard to change the sheets so I just sleep with a blanket and pillow, no sheets 😭(I do not recommend)
This makeover wasn't a very big glow up because it was so tight for space and she has roommates but I think the difference it will make to her comfort will be bigger than it looks. Just having a convenient charger etc for the top bunk will make it better. I do think the lower bunk got a better deal though but only because the hanging space is set up for them!
I need help decorating my home office, do you have any tips? I am screenwriter, and I love having things around me that inspire me. The problem is I am super nerdy. How do I make my home office look less like a 12 years old boys bedroom and more like an adult woman’s office without getting ride of all my geeky stuff?
I wish they had put some fairy lights up in the top bunk area. The bottom bunk got some fun lights, why not the top bunk??
How? On the walls?
Izzy and Lizzy yes! You can do a lot with clear command hooks.
Honstly the bottom one looks better, are you sure you were focusing on top bunk bed and not the bottom one?
I think so too. It felt like that since arranging the lower bunk is easy they focused more on that.
Agreed lol I would switch them if I was her !!
Riley asked for cool tones...bottom bunk compliments that. Unfortunately the top bunk didn’t have all the same features as a bottom bunk and not all the room for extras.
Yea i would switch that as soon as the lady leaves!
Based on the b roll they used I think they thought so too
I don’t think the duct tape is safe if you’ve got socks on. Kinda stupid, especially as a ladder.
🤷♀️not a big fall though
Does nobody realize that it can roll if you dont step right?!?!? Its so unsafe and someone's going to be climbing up there and the noodle is going to turn and they are going to check their chin
do y'all not realize that your holding on to the bar when you walk up :/
why do almost all universities/colleges insist on using this ugly type of wood ?! its so nasty like ok i know its cheap and whatnot but paint it or something. the shade is anxiety inducing 😩😅
That takes effort. Although there must be other veneers.
paint can come off, it will scratch and no college have time to fix thousands of furniture every year
NemoOks true but by paint i meant wood stains so the wood has a different finish but ofc this is all just wishful thinking amirite
Not ugly. Just not your style.
I actually love that type of wood and color.... i know no one asked but i'm just saying it all comes down to personal preference.
So the roomate has the cooler looking bed lol
You shouldn't be putting things on a microwave. They are normally even stickers on it asking you to leave the top free. I put mine in a ikea shelf so I can put something on top of that
Leena Husa some microwaves have it on the sides.
She goes to the same school as my sister and I am 80% sure they are allowed to put stuff on the top of it
There is a BIG safety hazard in this makeover. The "daisy chain" that was done with the power strip on the bed is a fire hazard, so find a power strip with a long enough cord to actually reach the outlet.
Really? Why ? I’ve done this at home on a lamp for over a year now . Why is it dangerous??
@@ajhastanley9246 probably because it's strapped to the wood bunk bed and also suspended.
Why didn’t you pay like hardly any attention to the top bunk?
Yeah especially considering that Riley is the person she’s trying to help and she sleeps on the top bunk?
you could have just used a command strip or stick on velcro instead of that ugly zip tie for the outlet lol
Right?
You have to be able to 100% remove stuff off university-owned furniture tho.
LNL command strips can be completely removed?
shutupsavannah Because of specific types of command strips that can sometimes leave residue/tacky stuff, pull off paint/coatings, etc. (personally, I have had a number of bad command strips in my life, despite using them properly), my school had a rule against their use. Stick-on velcro is also likely to leave marks/residue. And college kids might get cheaper off-brand versions of this stuff that definitely do not have clean removal.
Zip ties are more secure.
I think the pool noodles would look awesome covered with a nice fabric. Also even more comfortable.
Wait but what if her room mates bring their stuff and want different colors?
Jose Sparky Hahahah I asked Riley if her roommate would want things and she said yes 😄 they are friends from freshman year!
Ashley McGetrick good 👌🏻😂 I was so worried it would all get torn down
That is true, but who wouldn't want more space?
Ashley McGetrick I thought the same then my roommate brought back tinder guys. It’s not all rainbows and unicorns there
Jose Sparky my roommate did that to the pictures of my family. We were best friends at first too. This girl better be careful
That pool noodles gives me anxieties and OCD making me want to remove it
i do that with my bunk bed because my cousin has the same bed and he used it for 4 years. he has indentations in the bottom of his feet from climbing up and down the ladder so the pool noodle is ugly but helpful lol should of decorated it with some pretty duct tape on a metal bed
It’s not the best 🤮
It looks great, and since Riley asked for cool tones, she got what she asked for and lower bunk just compliments it.
And the over toilet shelving...ingenious! Who’d a thunk it...you of course.
I really enjoy your videos. Keep them coming.
Command strips also work great for attaching extension cords to surfaces! That way you can keep all of the plugs free.
It's so cool that you're doing this. Could you maybe do a tips and tricks video for low budget decorating?
Emma B ouh yes I would love to do that! 😄💛
ok, but the pool noodles look really bad.
Bella AK I agree
Shut up
The R.E Twins it’s not that deep, lol.
I don't really agree
I agree but it’s better
This looks amazing! Major, major props for rearranging the furniture. The previous setup was horrible and didn't seem like the place to get things done. The makeover seems conducive for work!
YAY! It’s here! Thanks for watching everybody!!!
I am so sad that this little mini series is over 😭📚✨
Does anyone have other ideas for Space Lift mini series projects?! I want to make another one already!
Thanks again for watching and for all the kind comments along the way 😊💛 (I read every one!)
Definitely should do more 😊 I love this series
Just throwing out ideas :-
1) makeover a senior's room (maybe an old age home)
2) fandom inspired rooms
3) tiny spaces lift (making a small space functional for multiple persons)
4) small functional office rooms (small business/freelancer etc)
Makeover:
Youth centre
Halfway House
Homeless Centre
Womens Centre
Veterans houses?
A craft room or scrapbook room. :)
Nursery for a new mom
I did the toilet shelf thing my first year of school and it was so convenient.
Also I had a high lofted bed (same height as top bunk w/out the bottom bed) and I made it then used a different blanket so I never had to make it again.
Okay but the fact you made it functional for everyone is so thoughtful and I’m sure they appreciated it so much
7:05 - What are these rags on chairs for? It’s better to buy normal pillows for them.
I have a lofted bed in my dorm room and I can confirm-changing the sheets are a nightmare! it’s just a lot of shuffling and crouching down so you don’t hit your head!
Maybe desk or office makeovers for a mini-series?
take the top bunk mattress out of the frame and dress it on the floor. fitted sheet suspenders are a life saver and if able to you can take off the guard rails to slide the mattress back in place. usually they are just screwed in so it’s not too hard to put them back on when you’re done
Bunk bed hack, use Beddy’s zipper bedding! Total game changer!
jessbelle02 The amount charged for housing is exorbitant. But unless you are in #greekhousing it seems like often you get ugly, never cleaned carpets and this iron and orange wood or dingy furniture.
Ahh yes, let me just get my mum to remortgage her house to buy one...
@jessbelle02 yes to Beddy's for bunk beds! I was going to say that too!
maybe when i’m rich and famous! some $200 bedding sounds really exciting!
The zip ties on the power strip covered up the plugs... I’ve always used Velcro command strips to get power strips to stick to the side of my bed and it works really well!
Top bunk hack:
Do back edges 1st then the front ones for sheets
Riley's roommates are so lucky
You should do an office spaces mini series! But it would be cool to see different types of offices like a cubicle, home office, shared office, etc! I’d love to see that :) thanks for making these
When I used to share a room with my siblings, I always got the top bunk. I never made my bed cuz it was such a hassle 😂
Mini series on holiday party makeovers (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas)
And you’re awesome!! 😃
This will definitely be helpful for my own dorm in my college years next year... I'm graduating from High School this April 2020...😊
This comment didn't age well....
moimoi the marvelous definitely not lol
I needed this 6 years ago.
I used command strips to stick my powerstrip just below the windowsill.
These were genius hacks anyone can use. Plus affordable.
Omg Riley goes to my university!!
Tell her i said hello :)
SO NICE!!!
I really like the pool noodle, between the wall and the bed.
I went to high school with Riley!! I mentored her brother!!!

Ashley 🥰 ....please do your videos weekly !!!....love your work ☺️☺️☺️

Love the pillow sham over the desk chair idea.
Beddy’s BEDDING!!!! Please work with them!!! They’re so great!!!
College sounds like prison - I’m lowkey glad I’m not in college sometimes. Granted, I’m going into a field that doesn’t require or need college - I’m really proud of everyone I know going through it!
Love that you make room functional along with beautiful.
For bunk beds, try folding up the blanket at the foot of the bed instead of draping it like you normally would. Neater and easier.
Great Job! Good Luck Riley!
Tip for putting the bedsheet on the top bunk: bring the mattress down and put the bedsheet on then put it back up, it sounds easy but doing it is hard.
Ugh stop the hate comments the room looks great!
Your roomie deserves a good friend like you
For bunk beds you need to get beddy’s bedding. It’s made specifically for making bunk beds
Use Beddys bedding for the bunk. It’s awesome!!
ok like this is cool but i would be PISSED about these people just coming into my room and moving my stuff around
Save the slippage on ladder steps. Put the rug gripper on the step before the pool noodles. Then the the noodle tight.
Can you pls make a tip video with tips/hacks for low budget decorating?😊
That dorm room is general is pretty nice. Very workable. Are you allowed to say what university this is? Kinda want to look into it.
The headboard cushions blew my mind!
I'm out of college by 9 months but when I was a freshman I had a lofted bed and dropped stuff all the time, I would have loved the pool noodle hack!!!
It's beautiful and girls is so sweet
For the bedding use beddy’s it is super easy and helpful for making beds
This is so cute, but I'm so glad I go uni in England as u get your own room and space
The bottom bunk looks better. The pool noodles look ugly. No consideration for other roommates, too. Because what if they don’t want such changes?
Hi, I’m Riley’s roommate. She asked us before having this done :)
For the top bunk I pull the matress a little over the end of the bed that way I can get the sheets on the side not on the wall and the other side I can put the sheets on that side from the bottom bunk
THAT’S MY BESTIE!
You could use those bed blankets that have the minkie in it and they have the zipper and its one blanket
Practically the bed linens by @beddysbeds is perfect to make any bed but perfect for bunk beds and a busy lifestyle
I swear I have watched this like 100 times
a suggestion : you could have added wall shelves to make more space for things and decorate the walls too.
Ok idk shit bout dorm rooms but this room look so good? All that natural light and window??
forever OTP!! 🥺❤️
Fabulous!!! 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Use sheet grippers to ensure they stay on so there is less times to make the bed
What my brother did for a top bunk is put his head down by the ladder so, when he made his bed he just had to pull the covers down little by little. So when he was finished he stood on the ladder and the bed looked fine. Lol.
Well I know how to make a top bunk

I love room makeovers
6:40 you gotta crawl up there and really put your arms into tucking in the comforter and sheets. Way easier if you kneel on one part of the bed while making the other part and slowly switch sides as you go along. It's a process
why this make me so emotional she look sa happy aand cute
This feels like the Refinery29 of room decor lmao.
So nice!
Keep going Ashley
I love you sooooooooo much
hey!! this is at my school and i know riley!! she's awesome!!
Go on the bottom bed look up and start pulling the sheet on the top bunk on both sides of the bed until it’s wrinkle free
Tremont Ave I wish that world with my bed, but it has all solid wooden rails
Low-key quite a nice room even before the makeover
I sleep in a top bunk because I share a room with my parents and bro, it's way to hard to change the sheets so I just sleep with a blanket and pillow, no sheets 😭(I do not recommend)
I have that powder blue quilt!
Love this series is back!!!!😈😁😁😁😁💙💙💙💙💜💜💜
when you’re early and wanna say something but have nothing to say
This makeover wasn't a very big glow up because it was so tight for space and she has roommates but I think the difference it will make to her comfort will be bigger than it looks. Just having a convenient charger etc for the top bunk will make it better. I do think the lower bunk got a better deal though but only because the hanging space is set up for them!
You have to lift the mattress and stand on the rings under that hold it up to make the top bunk.
Take the mattress off the top bunk and put it on top of the mattress at the bottom bunk and do whatever then put it back
I need to call you guys when I'm in collage hopefully
I need help decorating my home office, do you have any tips? I am screenwriter, and I love having things around me that inspire me. The problem is I am super nerdy. How do I make my home office look less like a 12 years old boys bedroom and more like an adult woman’s office without getting ride of all my geeky stuff?
I love these vids! Keep it up! 💖
Dang so many people in the comments are bashing this but I think it is really nice! :D
How about using a shower curtains with pockets? Use of course a material curtain on the outside of a plastic curtain.
