The creator said on his tiktok that its not 100% certain that were getting a 3rd season, and that the best thing we can do is give the show a lot of support to possibly help the story be able to come to a finish (since s3 would be the last season) . But all this info was realesed a the end of September, so if anyone has any new info then please let me know!
Honestly, this not getting a 3rd season would be what makes me delete my account. As much as I binge tons of Netflix I’d drop it instantly if this were cancelled.
So like, I'm slightly skeptical, because that's the same thing they said with season 1, how they didn't know if there was gonna be a season 2 and it depended on fan support - but the time between seasons 1 and 2 was so short that there's no way season 2 wasn't actively in production at that time. Feels to me like how Square said that whether or not we get a World Ends With You sequel depended on how well Final Remix sold - Final Remix tanked, but then they gave us NEO TWEWY anyway. I'm not usually a cynical guy, but there's part of me that feels like companies are getting wise to how much the idea of staking a franchises future on reception can drive people and are starting to use it as a marketing tactic, regardless of how actually at risk the property is. Like... I'm still reccomending Dead End to my friends... but I do it because its a great show, not because I feel like there's a third season being held hostage - that responsibility shouldn't be on me.
8:04 When I watched that episode, I was screaming at the screen “THAT’S VERY SWEET BARNEY, BUT PLEASE DON’T EXERCISE IN YOUR BINDER THAT’S NOT GOOD FOR YOU!”
I saw the tail too and I thought "is he Pugsley" but then I saw he was taller than Pugsley and said "yeah, there's no way". I didn't even thought he was a future version of him.
SO TRUE i watched dead end s2 like the night before watching thanks to them and dead end s2 was definitely the one that made me lose my mind more (altho im expecting the rest of toh s3 to also properly blow my mind lol)
There's literally crossover fan art drawn by the people who just got done with Thanks to Them and then watched this season finale. _It's so friggin' sad._
I gotta say, having the angels be representations of the carceral state and the general over-surveillance and policing of todays world when contested against the more radical freedom and self-determination was a really cool writing choice. It’s not something I’ve seen done a lot before (though to be fair I haven’t consumed much religious fantasy media) but it’s something I would definitely like to see more of. Especially when one considers the relationship between Puritanism, the heaven/hell dichotomy, and social conceptions of criminal Justice in modern society.
This season was so so good. Fingers was actually creepy and disturbing at times, which is perfect for an angel. Everything surrounding The Watcher was done really well, and it honestly just blew me away. I thought the way time travel was incorporated was incredibly satisfying and added to the story really well, which is weird because I usually prefer bootstrap paradoxes. Just overall solid season.
I didn't think it was possible for me to love Pugsley more. Not just for the ending but all the little moments in between. 12:05 The dog, the good boy, the *legend.*
This was such a good season. I'm not gonna lie, I had to pause and hold my hand over my mouth in shock when the Watcher's true origins were revealed. That and the time travel elements really astounded me. I desperately hope there is a 3rd season, and I desperately hope to get the good little boy Pugsly back.
Badyah gives SERIOUS Demi or other ace spectrum vibes to me honestly, she just... never really considered romance or sexuality before Norma asked her out.
26:25 I actually went back and rewatched those scenes and sure enough, it's all there. Closed loop time travel. I remember people pointing those things out way back in s1, particularly that there was something about the different versions of Barney's suit that were important but I didn't understand.
I think the ghost episode learning about how the afterlife processing is like, it might show where exactly Pugsley is, even if it's not a ghost. Ghosts are there for "unfinished business" and Pugsley's goal was to save and protect Barney. He saved Barney, he finished his "purpose" persay. But that could also be used as an argument as to why Pugsley may be a ghost, especially since he can still protect Barney as a ghost, in a way. I dunno, nothing is "filler", there's a reason to everything done in the show and Hamish Steele did a great job. With season 3 in the question, we have to wait for book 3 of DeadEndia. But hey, if you want to see the original before the show, the graphic novel "DeadEndia" exists. It's a bit more heavy than the show, especially since the characters are older and have slightly different roles than they do in the series, but it gives a perspective on the decisions of the show as well. I think Hamish Steele spoke about how they're similar but not the same, because him writing DeadEndia alone for so long was *so* much different than writing Dead End Paranormal Park with a huge team, which, makes sense- But, all in all, we have to wait for any news on a season 3, right now it's all just potentials and Hamish is waiting for the release of book 3 as well as reprints of the first 2 with some new content. For avoiding potential spoilers that route? I think just not read book 3 immediately, but also take everything with a grain of salt because of how vastly different the graphic novel and the show is. I realized this is a very long comment and I'm very sorry about it, this has become one of my hyperfixations, but yeah-
Hi I think you didn't mention it but Norma is asking for a war between the demons and the angels! And the end of the world is because there was a war between them but the watcher stopped it.... I just like the fact that the war might always has been cause because Pugsley either got transformed as the watcher or because Pugsley died I just find it neat and it also means that this war was called by Norma either way.
I thought I was ready to watch this review/breakdown/stanning. I was wrong. So wrong. This season destroyed me. As a “pug mom” for 17 years, the love and connection of Barney and Pugsley has always been something I’ve loved about Deadendia and then seeing it transferred into the show. It was wonderful. But the end with Pugsley and Barney and Barney feeling like he could’ve done more for Pugsley hits me so dang hard every time. I just can’t even with this season because of that looming for me. But I love this comic/show so much at the same time.
Theres a part of me that wants to read into Badyahs whole "i think i am," description of her sexuality. And i feel bad, cuz i believe in respecting peoples sexualities... but like... ITS EXACTLY HOW I USED TO TALK ABOUT MYSELF, AND NOW IM A DISASTER BISEXUAL
Ok so re 20:21... I hate to say it Bill, but if it's the park's fault for not keeping the building up to code, and Logs is the official park safety officer... it kinda IS his fault lmao.
2:35 Comedic self-awareness appreciated 13:35 BRO HOW?! 21:55 I literally had to go and walk off how funny I found that I'm 21 and have only recently started exploring the possibility that I might be Bi (been questioning for years tho), so weirdly both Badya's question of "I'm pretty sure I'm straight, do you think not thinking about it means you are?" AND Norma's reluctance to tell her mom hit with me, I'm glad I have my older sister to talk to (and Discord friends), she told me about her being Demi so I know I can tell her anything.
Still hoping @thethirdbill will cover Hilda, I think he'd really like that show, or Danger and Eggs, there's so much representation, and the finale literally takes place during a pride festival.
Additionally on Barney calling out the demons and playing up his ‘human-ness’ was what we in the ‘professional wrestling’ world would call a heel turn. Professional wrestling involves a lot of story telling. It’s like live action comic books. you have your good guys and bad guys. So Barney wanting to be true to himself but still put on a good show does a classic wrestling reveal and plays it over the top to become ‘the villain you love to hate’ in the eyes of the demons. It is even implied that they still don’t realize he is actually human, they think he is a demon pretending to be a human for the story hook. It’s very pro wrestling, and as a fan of that stuff I loved that episode lol
I don't think they mention it outright in the show, but I also really like the depiction of angels and demons as order and chaos, rather than good and evil. I think the closest they came to clarifying it was Norma's assumption that the angels must be the "good guys" because of the traditional mythology, which also fits how authoritarian structures maintain power by demonizing (hah) anything that doesn't fit in with their hierarchy. Either way it's just a much more interesting way to tell a story in my opinion.
I've been waiting for this, and I'm glad I did! It helped me to appreciate the season even more than I already did. For example, I took the wrestling episode way too literally ("Why is B-Rex a bad thing? Let the boy be a masked wrestler"). But hearing you talk about it a lot more helped me realize what it was going for and appreciate it so much more.
Those who finished this second season would understand this joke "Im taking a break from TOHs recent episode" :) "I'll be watching Dead End Paranormal Park S2"
14:11 I binged this season with my friend. And during this scene I could feel my insides aching! I have the biggest crush. Like for so long now I've liked her... I know she's straight so I haven't expressed my feelings like Norma, but man did it feel awful seeing this, and watching the scene with her too! 💔
I always liked the idea that devil/demons horns were a broken halo and that halos came out of the head like horns. I don’t think that actually connects with the lore of angels/demons but i always thought it was a cool idea.
1. I really enjoyed your commentary on Season 2's theme of supporting people by letting go. 2. As a self-diagnosed autistic person who watched Season 1 when he learned Norma Khan was canonically autistic, I absolutely loved the amount of focus Norma got this season. Her arc was the first queer plotline to make me feel a level of excitement similar to what queer people feel when they witness positive representation in media. I happy-stimmed SO HARD when Norma first said "I'm bi." I went into Season 2 hoping she'd say "I'm autistic," and even though she didn't, I wasn't bummed out at the end because what she did say was just as valuable to me. Norma's autism and bisexuality were each given their own season to endear themself to the viewer, creating a sense of progression for the viewer's opinion of her. I went from "The portrayal of Norma's autism makes me love her deeply" to "I love Norma deeply, so I really want to see her happy," with the added bonus of "This form of happiness has been invalidated throughout history when it deserves the exact opposite." I am buying the DeadEndia books as soon as I have the chance and I am praying this show gets a Season 3. Norma Khan deserves a happy ending.
"I can't wait to watch that again. Also I'm never watching it again- I'll watch it again" this is pretty much how i feel about most shows that damage me emotionally
Hey my guy, I'm not sure if there's anywhere I should be requesting stuff besides the comments (sorry if there is hahah) but I think you might enjoy making a Trying To Stan video about Miracle Musical! They're this very cool band that only have one album (Hawaii: Part 2) out that tells out a very interesting story. (no spoilers though :>) i think you might like a lot of the lyrics and instrumentation, Joe Hawley (the main guy of the whole project) is a great musician If I had to recommend a couple of the more well-known songs to react to, I'd suggest Introduction To The Snows (just to introduce you to the album ykyk), Murders, The Mind Electric and Dream Sweet In Sea Major :^)
I just finished s2 and man.... my heart was crushed *for* Norma at the end of ep 5 cause I thought she and Badyah legit had romantic chemistry. Someone please hug my precious autistic bi daughter!!

It always surprises me when you predict the big twists. When I watch your videos, I’m always like ooh I can’t wait for him to see the twist and then you predict it even when they are twists I definitely did not see coming and I’m like 😮
Right after I finished this season I watched s3 ep1 of owl house and immediately regretted my decisions. I cried so hard that day and was completely emotionally drained 😅

hi bill i'm a long time viewer and i was wondering if you could react to PhemieC's homestuck music? specifically their 12 about the troll kids :) thanks!!
Day 17 of asking for a vid abt the song of Achilles I know this isn’t music/show related but anyways, (The audiobook is wonderful and that’s coming from someone who doesn’t quite enjoy audiobooks, if you’ve read the book but haven’t heard the audiobook it is worth it) Here a book quote “I will never leave him. It will be this, always, for as long as he will let me.”
I’m surprised that we haven’t heard any conservative Christian outrage over this show since the main character is a gay trans guy, most of the cast is queer and angels are bad and demons are good/sympathetic

as a queer person, the scene where norma and logs talk about being queer means so so so much to me

When I watched that episode, I was screaming at the screen “THAT’S VERY SWEET BARNEY, BUT PLEASE DON’T EXERCISE IN YOUR BINDER THAT’S NOT GOOD FOR YOU!”
Sometime early in this season I was like “oh, the angel has a pug tail! :)” and somehow I didn’t connect the dots until the last episode 🤦
Good eye! I didn't even notice-
I saw the tail and the matching body colors and went "Is he a future version of Pugsley?" I called it.
Oh I have something similar with "Aw, they have paws? That's weird but cute lol". I did notice the tail at some point, but I didn't even process it
THERE WAS SOMETHING ABOUT THE FEET ON THE WATCHER THAT MADE ME THING HE WAS A PUG
I saw the tail too and I thought "is he Pugsley" but then I saw he was taller than Pugsley and said "yeah, there's no way". I didn't even thought he was a future version of him.
"I needed a break from the owl house"
Me remembering what's yet to come (taiking about the last episode of dead end)
Me:oh no oh no oh no
That just got me thinking of that one "uh oh" clip from Sam O'Nella lol

Not gonna lie but Norma's coming out scene *REALLY* hits different for me since I never got a reaction similar to her mother's when I came out :')
lol him being like “do I want this?” Every few seconds in that third episode is so relatable. Mainly because I myself still can’t decide

Heck, I'm trans and didn't pick up on the sport commentary at all. I guess that comes with not caring about sport xD
i wish everyone had some of our apathy towards sports and let people play the sports
