    This is, in my humble opinion, a perfect song and one of the best ever created.

      I'm not really prone to hyperbole, but I can't argue with facts.

      It truly is to everyone who loves rock... If you have to pick something from 2000*s this would be one...

      i dont know how big the category of "punk rock/emo ballads" would be but this would be the best one of them easily

      It's the Bohemian Rhapsody of the 2000's imho

    The Black Parade is a rock opera centering around the character of "The Patient". It is about his passage out of life and the memories he has of it. "The Patient" dies and death comes for him in the form of a parade. This is based on singer Gerard Way's notion of death appearing to a person in the form of their fondest memory, in this case seeing a marching band as a child.

    From a structure standpoint, this is probably the closest thing to bohemian rhapsody for our generation 90s-present.

      They were very inspired by Queen in general for this song, and they later got to play it on stage with Brian May!

    I love the costumes because they do two things for me. First they remind me of the Beatles' Sgt Pepper costumes. But also, they make them look vaguely like skeletons.

      @orpheus4694 Год назад +2

      The Sgt. Pepper-esque costumes are a deliberate nod, I believe. They created this alter-ego band called The Black Parade for this album, as inspired by the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper :)

      @@orpheus4694 Or the Pink Floyd's dictatorship band cause the lyrics line of In the flesh "Pink isn't well and stayed back to the hotel, and called us along as a surrogate band"

    They are great! The whole album was a concept album. I bet you’d enjoy their song Ghost of You with the video. It’s a great tribute to WW2.

    This song is basically what got me into this album and this, this band, despite it not being the usual style I listen to.
    Once I learned the meaning of the song... The story of one passing over into death... I started looking into the rest of the album. It is an entire concept album looking at death from the viewpoint of a patient dying of cancer. Learning that has made me love songs like "Mama" from this album that I would have completely written off as screamo music and not thought twice about. But the stories behind the songs are so deep that I learned to love the songs anyway.
    I became a big fan of MCR and this album is, to me, one of the greatest albums to come out of the mid 00's.
    So, if you get a chance, and if you haven't already, listen to the entire album and learn the meanings behind the songs. You won't regret it.

    A great reaction. The live comments are a distraction, but I get it's your forum. MCR is imo theeeeee best. And I'm old,so it's likely never going to change 😊. Always nice to see new ppl discover them,hugs from Sweden.

    loll ..i refuse to believe that any father would say to their young son during a parade "would you be the savior of the broken the beaten and the damned." it's a nice rhyme though.
