Just discover your channel and you provide awesome info. For hunting near bedding area like this video, what time is the best to go in and wait for the deer to come back?
Welcome to the channel. In this particular situation (depending on wind), I would actually go in 4 hours before dark. The place I setup is where the deer leave the bedding to go feed at night. I also setup on the ground so I make less noise. In most 'hunt in bedding situations', I would suggest going in at least an hour before daylight to catch the deer coming back to bed from feeding all night.
It's a tripod chair I found in Walmarts outdoor section. I replaced the strap on it with a duffle bag strap that's adjustable in order to be large enough to comfortably go over hunting clothes.
@@RelentlessSportsman It's to much like a gun you can put a scope on and kill from a 100yds . With a traditional bow or compound bow you pull your your string back and hold it to make a shot. It takes more skill to kill with bow. You have to practice with a compound or a traditional bow. Their is a reason you don't see people shooting a crossbow with a scope in the Olympics . You can make the argument that crossbow bow is more effective at killing a deer that is true. But a gun is way more effective than a crossbow bow.. let me go down the rabibit hole a little further a drone is way more effective than a gun. Attach a gun or crossbow that Would be way more effective than a gun Basically it's a lazy choice to hunt with a crossbow because you don't want to take the time to practice to develop a skill. I believe it should have it's own season and be reserved for people with disabilities or older people. I don't think you're setting a example for younger hunters or family. I admire hunters like fred bear zach from the hunting public and Jared schaefer from adrenaline whitetails Dan Infalt jon Eberhart. Taking a imore difficul path is hard but sometimes it's the right thing to do.
@@kidneystones3406 I see what you're saying. However, 100 yard shot with a crossbow??? That doesn't happen. The longest I would ever shoot a deer with a crossbow is 40 yards. The reason I used one this past season, is because a good friend of mine gave me a crossbow - I didn't pay for it. As the season progressed, I was having issues with my compound bow and it was in and out of the shop constantly. I used the crossbow during times of need. It's not being lazy. There are circumstances in which it's necessary. You may not have been in those circumstances, but other people have. As far as setting an example - crossbows are the reason why many young hunters, who were not raised in a hunting family, being to hunt in the first place. It's an encouragement to get people into the sport to begin with. Most hunters that start with a crossbow, eventually purchase a compound bow. If you believe that crossbow and compound bow hunting should have their own season, then you're in favor of division. That only creates division and bitterness with those who bow hunt. States have done that, and it's created large problems. People start arguing over best times to hunt, rights, regulations and so on. Believe me, nobody truly wants that once you think of those consequences. Do what's best for you. If someone chooses to legally and ethically hunt in a certain way, let it be. They have the right to do what's best for them. The last thing this world needs, especially nowadays, is someone complaining about the choices other people make, which in the end, do not affect their lives to begin with. Jeff Sturgis created a video detailing the effects of separating crossbow and compound bow seasons, I suggest you watch that, as he goes into great detail about the consequences of that happening. Lastly, all those hunters you admire, they have no problem with people choosing to use a crossbow. They encourage anyone to hunt ethically and legally, no matter how they choose - something to think about.
@@RelentlessSportsman You make alot of good points. You said it's not a lazy choice I don't see the logic on how's it's not lazy choice. If one method requires you to takes alot more time and practice to develop a skill and the other task takes very little time and skill sighting in your crossbow. How is that not a lazy choice? For the record it doesn't make you a good person or bad person but it is lazy choice. It also devalues the archery experience. The high end crossbows you can shoot a 100yds. Just because it's legal doesn't make it ethical. Those are 2 different things for example high fence hunting is legal it doesn't make it ethical I think reasonable people can agree on that. Those hunters are following the rules and regulations. Using drones to scouting properties or in future useing drones to shoot a deer it's just matter of time before that happens. Your argument is basically never question authority. The crossbow industry became popular because special interests paid off the politicians it's a money grab just stating the obvious. Do have any data supporting that crossbow hunters are switching to compound bows it seems very unlikely and probably a very small percentage hope I am wrong.
@@RelentlessSportsman yeah i mean i get the sporting aspect. parts of the hunt are fun. just like fishing. but when i go fishing i just have fun fishing too. i am never after the biggest trout to mount on a board. i catch the big one and put it back. i catch smaller ones and fill my freezer lol. i guess i am just hungrier than most haha.
