    Great video Sven. I'm sorry about the guy that kept casting on top of your line. Some people are just completely stupid. I once had this guy come into a spot I was fishing because I was pulling barred surfperch after barred surfperch with my friend. He didn't even have the right bait and kept tangling with our lines. The funny part was that he was mad at us for getting tangled. I swear I was about to walk over and snap his rod in half. We were so frustrated that at the last tangle my friend just went over and cut his line clean off ours then kept fishing. He cursed us out then stormed off, good riddance I say. You handled it a lot better than me and my buddy would have so I commend you for that. Keep it up Sven, I hope this video teaches some anglers about fishing etiquette that should be common sense honestly.

      Thanks for sharing your story John, I don't understand what people like this are thinking sometimes :o Like if you tangle with my line, you have to stop fishing too to untangle? If someone was at a spot that I like, I give them plenty of room to not get in their way, first come first serve policy, it's not that hard to be respectful of others o.o I agree though, I do hope this vidya gives other anglers and anglets a different perspective as to why you should follow basic fishing etiquette! Not tryna call anyone out, it just makes the sport more enjoyable when you respect your fellow fishermen. The goal is to catch fish, not spend several minutes trying to detangle your line from another person's line 😂 And like I said, I'm a pretty chill guy, if you want to fish a hot spot with me just ask! At least then we can work something out so we both can catch nice fish without being stuck on one another ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    Half Moon? Dang Sven, that’s on my fish bucket list. Did you enjoy it?

    • @SvenGoesFishing
      @SvenGoesFishing  2 года назад +7

      Yeah Halfmoons are awesome, they also go for peas so it’s like fishing for perchy opaleyes 😂 actually funny enough, I showed my dad my catch and he told me it’s one of his favorite fish fried up. Amber cleaned it up and I gave it to him so him and my mom could enjoy it. While I didn’t get to eat the whole fish, I took a small piece after he finished cooking it and it was super tasty! Highly recommend it for sure c:

    So you got to take on a nice Halfmoon and a common Halfwit! Seems like a great day, not many real dinks and a lot of variety of fish. Really enjoyed this one Brother!!

    • @SvenGoesFishing
      @SvenGoesFishing  2 года назад +7

      Yeah that halfmoon was an awesome unexpected catch 😂 and well that guy was just another guy, not gonna get upset over something so simple, best I can do is to try to teach others about basic fishing etiquette and hope it catches on more. You also right now that I think about it, most of the dinky fish I caught were still pretty hefty and the bite was pretty good c: as long as there’s fish to catch that’s all that I care about 😂 glad you enjoyed this video a lot Joe, more dooping around to come! c:

    Good going...Half-moon aka "Catalina Blue Perch" are fun along with the Calico Bass, Sargo, Opaleye, etc...all fun to fish for! Watch out for the stingrays aka "sea pancakes"!

    • @SvenGoesFishing
      @SvenGoesFishing  2 года назад +5

      Yessir, I like to think all fish are fun to catch, I may lowkey complain about rock wrasse nibbling away at my baits but they’re still pretty neat c: and yes always watch out for the sea pancakes 😂 thanks for watching Todd! c: 👌🎣

    Do you just let the shrimp sit there? Or actively fish it??

    • @SvenGoesFishing
      @SvenGoesFishing  2 года назад +6

      If I’m fishing rly close to the jetty rocks that are right in front of me, I don’t let the bait sit. The waves crashing will push my rig into the rocks and it will snag even if a torpedo sinker unfortunately :( but the bites are fairly instant so if there’s no nibbles real soon I’ll recast it c: If I’m casting farther out towards other rocky structures like when I caught that huge Halfmoon, I let that one sit out but just keep an eye on where my rig is c: hope that answers your question, thanks for watching JIGGIN’ WITH LC! :D👌🎣

      @@SvenGoesFishing and last question how much of shrimp should I be using?

    • @SvenGoesFishing
      @SvenGoesFishing  2 года назад +3

      I’m glad you enjoy my videos :D there’s a lot of fish close to the jetty rocks, the fishing itself is a tad harder but you can catch some nice decent fish there c: I highly recommend to bring extra tackle since the possibility of snagging is very high (the waves are not always going to be working in your favor) D: Torpedo sinkers are the best, I recommend like 1 or 2 oz torpedos with a single hook to decrease the probability of snagging c: let minnow what you catch the next time you go if you don’t mind sharing 😂

    • @SvenGoesFishing
      @SvenGoesFishing  2 года назад +4

      My go to hooks are size 6, small enough for general surfperch but big enough for potential chonkier bois that might go for it. Head on shell on shrimp is what I recommend to use, you can get them at Asian super markets in the ice bins from 4-6 dollaps a pound. You honestly only ever need half a pound, and when I go fishing by myself I only bring like 5-7 shrimps to use. Each shrimp should have 6 segments and each segment is a perfect size for size 6 hooks, so with 5 shrimps that’s about 30 pieces of bait to use :D I like to bulk buy half a pound, partition them into ziplocks and put the rest in the freezer for quick easy grab and go bait bags. Fair warning, try your best not to refreeze the shrimp as much as you can, when they get refrozen too much their integrity and scent declines rapidly, I don’t recommend more than 1 freezing session after you have the bait at home (they are most likely already frozen once before they got to the store). 2 at most but after that you can definitely see the quality go down hill. Bait thread is optional but I do also think it’s super helpful to keep your bait on longer, especially if you cast into a spot that has a bunch of dinky nibblers! :O it buys more time until a bigger one can come get it c:

    Great video as always, Sven. I've only been on that jetty once but not to fish. I want to try it sometime soon. What type of bait do you usually use? Have you tried fish bites before? Keep the videos coming.

    • @SvenGoesFishing
      @SvenGoesFishing  2 года назад +6

      It’s a great jetty to fish! Highly recommend it if you get the chance :D for me John, I always use head on shell on shrimp, 9/10 videos I post are gonna be shrimp bait based 😂 I have tried fish bites before, my favorite scent is… shrimp lol, in electric chicken color. I have a video in La Jolla where PLF and I were catching calicos left and right with those fishbites, so I know for sure they work for them, even legal ones :D

    • @johndentone5663
      @johndentone5663 2 года назад +4

      I had tried the regular fish bites. I bought the fish bites shrimp/electric chicken from watching your video. I did catch small calico bass. Continued good luck fishing 🎣 and your videos my friend.

    • @SvenGoesFishing
      @SvenGoesFishing  2 года назад +5

      Thanks John! Yeah electric chicken shrimp fishbites are awesome, a weird thing I noticed is that it is kinda hit or miss as well. I once fished in a spot that had a lot of calicos but they only wanted regular shrimp, not the fish bites 😂 I’d like to say that work 4/5 times for calicos though c:
