  • The Patagonian mara looks like a cross between a deer and a rabbit, but it's actually a rodent. These little guys are only found in parts of central and southern Argentina. Their long, powerful hind limbs allow them to reach speeds of up to 45 mph when running, but even these adept sprinters can't outrun the human threat of overhunting.

I'm here because one of these little guys escaped from his home in my neighborhood. We don't see many exotic animals in the suburbs lol. His name is Jimmy and I thought he was the silliest looking thing so I decided to educate myself

sry but the actual speed is below 30 kph according to several sources. i assume they converted it the wrong way, multiplying instead of dividing by 1.6 since 30 mph would be about 45 kph. but 30 kph is only about 17 mph.

Was that supposed to say 45 kilometers per hour instead of miles? It’s still really fast, but 45mph is faster than a race horse.

its so wierd... ive heard a story when i was young, my father is a hunter and before a few years one friend of him who was also a hunter , said to him that he saw the strangest hare in the woods... It was like a big Hareebut when he turned his head looked like a deer , when he staned up and started to run it looked like a deer but he still looked like a hare with small ears .
I was really interested in that until now that i found out that creatures like this existed in Argentina but i still cant come to mind how...could he have seen it ... in South Serbia - Balkan.
