The Patagonian Mara Is a Rodent on the Run

- The Patagonian mara looks like a cross between a deer and a rabbit, but it's actually a rodent. These little guys are only found in parts of central and southern Argentina. Their long, powerful hind limbs allow them to reach speeds of up to 45 mph when running, but even these adept sprinters can't outrun the human threat of overhunting.

I'm here because one of these little guys escaped from his home in my neighborhood. We don't see many exotic animals in the suburbs lol. His name is Jimmy and I thought he was the silliest looking thing so I decided to educate myself
cool
I love that everyone has decided these are all just little guys.
Looks like a cross between a Kangaroo and a Capybara.
Wynton Goulding Capybara, Cavy, and Mara are in the family Caviidae
Patogain mara sounds like capybara
I hate the thought of this going extinct. They're angels!!!

You can see a lot when you travel on the road in South of Argentina.
Those legs look so frail, like they'll break at any moment.

Look again at the long legs.
i do
I see deer but I dont know what a capybara is
@@4rreel487 Capybaras are the closest relative of guinea pigs and the largest rodent in the world. animals.sandiegozoo.org/animals/capybara
Neither a rabbit nor a capybara has these kind of legs
sry but the actual speed is below 30 kph according to several sources. i assume they converted it the wrong way, multiplying instead of dividing by 1.6 since 30 mph would be about 45 kph. but 30 kph is only about 17 mph.
So cute
Saw one today at Bristol Zoo, United Kingdom. Really cool!
They look like a mix between a rabbit, deer, and kangaroo lol. They're cute.
Was that supposed to say 45 kilometers per hour instead of miles? It’s still really fast, but 45mph is faster than a race horse.
They can run faster then uisan bolt
yeah 45 km 30 mph more or less
Google says 25 mph
Rabbits look more like rodents imo. This looks like a marsupial
That's a really dumb observation lol

Deer/capybara
its so wierd... ive heard a story when i was young, my father is a hunter and before a few years one friend of him who was also a hunter , said to him that he saw the strangest hare in the woods... It was like a big Hareebut when he turned his head looked like a deer , when he staned up and started to run it looked like a deer but he still looked like a hare with small ears .
I was really interested in that until now that i found out that creatures like this existed in Argentina but i still cant come to mind how...could he have seen it ... in South Serbia - Balkan.
for their skin or fur? is there a market for animal skin?
