It is cute. I recommend all able people to try hopping as a means of practicing faster movement. It's pretty cool. Can't do it anymore as (unrelated) my joints are all messed up.

Shiloh popped right into my head the second you said you were still looking for a name. The name stands for peace or place of peace. She is a beautiful little baby and you can see you have become very attached to her. All the best to your furred, scaled and feathered family.
I think Coriander would be cute. Chilipepper and Coriander. 😄

I like all the suggestions for names based on other peppers, particularly Cayenne (not too many syllables, and also spicy). Her hops outside also made me think of an alpaca pronking - probably different behaviorally, but that's the connection my brain made first...also both are very cute.

An old friend of mine had an adult one of those back in 2006. He used to take it for walks in the hood. The looks he would get from people were priceless lol.

I notice everyone else suggesting the same three pepper based names, but I thought something more simplistic. The Patagonian Cavy is, as you stated also known as the mara, so why not just that? Mara. It's a name that can mean strength, or even lady. In gaming, Mara is the Goddess of Love, Fertility, Agriculture, and Compassion (The Elder Scrolls). But that's just my thought...whatever ends up fitting will be her name.

You'd love Whipsnade Zoo! As well as having large enclosures, they have free roaming maras, wallabies and peacocks. You can have a picnic while a family of maras sit next to you.
So here's a question for you: When you take care of an species of animal that you don't have prior experience with, where do you personally go to get information on proper care for that animal?

Patagonian Cavies make great pets. Most people who keep them keep them outdoors. Saying they aren't good pets because they are dangerous inside is like saying a goat or a horse is a bad pet because it's not good indoors.
