With the rise of influencers and social media I think it's very easy to find yourself in a deep hole of unnecessary spending.
Too many are getting into debt thinking they have to keep up with a stranger online when you don't even know how they've acquired that item.
I think self control and education is important when it comes to what we say, what we put into our mouth and definitely how we spend our money.

I love preparing my own food. In this economy, not only is it kinder on the purse but I’ve noticed my husband and I eat much better balanced meals at home for half the the price of eating out. We do feel for small restaurant owners who are trying to balance rising costs of produce and keeping customers satiated and happy. So we do occasionally eat out to support them as some of them are also close friends or have become friends. Also time to time, junk food as my guilty pleasures because I can’t say no hot chips ;)

Good morning beautiful ladies. I love this platform. This platform gives a lot of insight on matters which concern women. We must continue to work on ourselves daily. Wisdom is also a character of trait. As a descendant of Maryland the older and original black generation set a good example, but my generation lost something along the way. Growing up in urban areas makes us rough around the edges and takes away some of our etiquette and poise. Let’s have it Anyway. Thank you for keeping me on track.

An elegant woman is a wise woman,
I've worked with women who check all of these boxes:gambling, clubbing every weekend, bragging about sleeping around. One woman always won money but spent it on boy toys. These "live in the moment" behaviors cost these women their health(emotional and physical), they constantly lost friends and men used them😢. I felt so bad for them because most of them were lonely. So sad!
The junk food really hits me. I remembered staying in Croydon when I first came to london and all the restaurants where chicken fried and other very unhealthy food. Shocking! I had to order online. 😅
The United States is like this too. Fried chicken everywhere. Many (drive thru) restaurants have gotten rid of fish. I mostly cook at home.
I definitely buy things on credit but I do it in a way that is VERY affordable for myself. And I buy the things I NEED not just things on a whim or what the influencers have tried to convince me to buy. Not going to lie….I used to but I realized my mistake

Thank you so much, I think one can also buy things and you can pay installmentally depending on how urgent and important it is, that one I don't see it as buying on credit. Such a great video especially buying things to impress people.
I buy lotto tickets now and then, but don't consider myself a gambler. Also love junk food, once a week or so (pizza etc). I also put EVERYTHING on credit where possible, because I earn points. The money gets paid automatically each month and I am never in debt. I don't think this makes me a mess of a woman.

I'm enjoying the video as usual, but I will make a caveat on the gambling one. My tip there is, unless you're struggling with gambling addiction, consider the social situation.
For example, my partner and I never buy lottery tickets and see it as a waste of money, but my partner participates in the office pool in order to be a team player. I participate in raffles and 50/50s at local events because at least half, if not most, of that money is going to a good cause(and often the prizes are donated to the organization). We never expect to win from those, but there's other benefits(camaraderie with coworkers and putting money toward good causes).
Those don't really count. It's the ones that are endless financial black holes.

Good debt is a mortgage or your education when there is not other way of financing it in a sensible way. It could also be a car if you have no other means for getting to work. For some good debt is a business loan for vita equipment if your business is profitable enough to pay it back.
Consumer goods like shopping or holidays or any other wants are bad debt
