I'm 70 so I was raised in the 50"s. I have to tell you that I sat watching and listening to the video totally gobsmacked . The things you where telling women to do to be elegant, I learned as a child growing up in a working class family. These habits became part of my everyday lifestyle.
@@Ad-Lo I'm from the US. But my grandparents came from Poland and Ireland/English where they had learned these traits then taught them to my parents and then to me.
@@Kismet404 I am a college professor and am in my 60s, and yes I was brought up with manners. Quite shocking that young people (in the U.S.) barely know to say please/thank you, yet alone know how to speak appropriately to their instructors!
Beautifully said. I am way younger than you but I too grew up and was raised with grace polish and what I call as if I went to finishing school. My mum is your age hut she is the most Elegant woman I know and her mother was too. I used to tell my friends I have never seen my mum unkempt even when she came home from work. She always looked good yet she does mot wear any makeup. She does everything graciously I have never smelled her sweat. From the part of the world I cone from.people used to call them Caucasian as if She always smelt like perfume. I love the sanitary pad part and hair in the sink not just that men even your own relatives should never see this in the bathroom. Even you should never have that - dirty vlothes and the sane bed clothes was great too. Especially for African women. As fir repeating underwear that is alarming to me. Great video - great tips. Things I think you need to be taught as a child
1.Eating direct from the pot_ save your food in a nice plate and eat 2.Ignoring personal and your space hygiene_ stay clean and neat as well as presentable at home 3.repeting dirty clothes and bed sheets_ wear clean clothes and change your bedsheets 4.Dumping clothes all over the space 5.Leaving a half eating plates around 6.abondoning dirty dishes in the sink for hours or days_clean them imediently after use 7.Not observing correct table manners when at home or alone 8.Going on social media to insult others 9.Not brushing your teeth regularly before meals and before sleep 10.Getting drunk
I agree, my boyfriend made a surprise stop yesterday and it has been raining all week I haven't left my home or gone outside. I was a trashy mess. To say the least I was mortified.
Mmm, personally , I always disliked someone (anyone) just dropping by without giving me a heads-up first, even if they are as close as your significant other. I tell everyone not to do that. I got this from my mother, who always told me that it was rude to do this to people. My own Dad pulled something like this on my Mom when they were dating, while she was home alone one day, deep cleaning the bathroom. My mother was actually scrubbing the toilet bowl when my father just dropped in and found her like that. She was mortified and also very upset with my father for doing that, and my Dad thought it was funny to catch her in that sort of predicament because my mother was always refined and put together.
Married in the early 90's. My then husband hated seeing me in sweats around the house. I was a homemaker with 3 babies! I thought he was controlling...and he was. But one day I saw several women shopping with sweats, sloppy jeans and they looked like they just gave up. I changed my look. Recently working from since 2020 and I realized early on that wearing bed clothes and house dresses doesn't put you in a good mindset for work. I now get up, wash face, teeth, meditate for 20 minutes, get dressed and start work. I am in a much better place.
As a Boomer, When I first saw the topic I thought “really?? people don’t know this?” After a few points I felt that this could be informative to some young people. So great job.
In my community it was called "Home training" and it has stayed with me. Older Black women were very stern about these things. I think people have gotten somewhat lax. I have been teased about being prissy and Suzy homemaker ... but my husband appreciates my ways and that's what matters to me.
Hi everyone I have other elegant idea I would like to propose and that is IRON YOUR CLOTHES. People today look like they just rolled out of bed, all wrinkled and just plain sloppy. They have taken the causal look to the extreme. They have no pride in there appearance and first impressions count in business and social. Everyone seems to emulate the next person instead of being their own person. Take a look at the average person and actresses of the 40"s and 50"s and how unique and crisp their outfits looked and the pride they expressed. I enjoy reading your thoughts.
I have always maintained a pleasant and inviting home. And I have always taken care to put on an attractive outfit (even if it’s just jeans and a sweater), jewelry and practice good hygiene. I feel it’s important because it elevates myself and others even if it is only my husband and myself. I like the calm that I get when I look around a tidy home, and I also like to give my husband something nice to look at when he sees me each day! However, you challenged me with regard to eating out of a container. I often do not take the time to “plate“ my food, unless my husband and I are sitting down to a meal together. There are always ways in which we can grow in elegance, both internally and externally, and so I thank you for your channel and your challenges! God bless you my elegant sister!
I do all these things only my books are always there at the corner of the bed below because my books are my best friends and I even clean while cooking so that I save the time to clean the kitchen after cooking.Nice advice to all ladies.Thank you dear.
Great that you are back! Love the tips - some of which are good hygiene. My dislike: taking food from the serving plate straight to ones mouth. 😮 True with any food- tea sandwiches, bread/rolls, meat, chicken pieces. 💙
Reminds me of my mom she never eased up on us now I'm older on my own I do alot of short cuts but the scary part is I may forget and do it in public thank you for helping me to fall back in line.
I just love your elegance during your presentation. It makes the message sink home. As you mentioned, we are creatures of habits and mine I can say it’s out of growing up with a strict Mum. Everything you mentioned is entrenched in my daily life out of the discipline instilled without an option out - only one was acquired bad habit..because I could hide it😀. But I’ve adjusted🙏🏽🙏🏽. Thank you
Excellent training! Some points are so basic that I thought women learned this growing up. If you didn’t, please learn this and teach all your children about basic hygiene and order. Thank you for these videos!🌹
Thank you. ❤️ My grandmother (Italian) was very elegant and always smelled so soft snd pretty. She wore her hair in a low bun until her 80's then got it cut off to a shorter style. She was a stickler about etiquette, grace and dignity. We also were taught to never eat with food in your mouth even alone. Please yes wear clean clothes and have clean bedding.
Hi Vivienne, Love your channel and absolutely agree with everything you advise. This is how I was brought up and have applied all your advice to the way I live.
I get the OCD title from friends all the time😂. But I don’t care. It makes me relax in my femininity.I’m super intentional with my hygiene . And yes! I agree, I’m a hyper OCD😅
Great information. 👍 The old people would say cleanliness is next to Godliness. My great grandmother from Cambridge, Maryland was extremely neat and clean. My grandmother from South Carolina loved nice things in her home. They would tell me how beautifully grandmother would decorate on a slim budget. The bathroom and kitchen should always get more attention for cleaning and sanitizing. Your home is your sanctuary and a reflection of you and your personal taste. The common goal is keeping it organized and clean even when you have to move or remodel. Living well is the best revenge. Hard to function in a dirty, dysfunctional home.
😂❤ you covered almost everything 👏👏💃 excellent!!! You put it across very well, makes me smile when you dont beat around the bush , 😊 you say it like it is, well I can't leave dishes out , I clean thoroughly before bed time. Like you I clean as I go when cooking ,so I don't generate a huge pile of dishes after, just what is used at table. I.agree with all the points, I didnt do too bad Lol passed 100% But there's always room for improvement and fine tuning For sure. Thanks for your hard work lovely video take care.
Whew, basically the only thing I have been often been guilty of is eating straight from the takeout containers...I mean if I order food to be delivered at home a great advantage of it is not having to do the dishes lol, I think there should be a bit of leeway with that. But eating straight from the pot is different and a no-no for me too.
I did watch the entirety of your video. I didn’t require notes, I do all these things. I suspect it is because I am older than you and was raised in this way. I love your gentle instruction for those that may not know these things. ❤
Your hair always look so beautiful I thought it was your own hair all this time .I really like the style no baby hair and no glue which makes you bald eventually .Thanks for showing us how everything is done with this gorgeous wig.
Guilty of not plating my food from take-out containers. (I SAY to myself that, 'I should put this on a plate'...and, then DON'T) That stops today/now. I understand The Assignment! I am taking notes.
I wake up later on my non work days and I immediately get up and perform the daily bathing and makeup routine. I have a separate wardrobe of lounge clothes - clothes that I can clean my apartment in , but not be ashamed to open the door wearing 😂 Fortunately , my mother taught me most of the other rules as I grew up.
I am taking notes . As someone who indulged in alcohol and *orn I can admit it makes me anxious and socially awkward in public. Thank you for this advice
Also a kitchen clean up is not clean if you don’t wipe the stove down after doing the dishes. When I shared a house with some girls in my 20s we had a 24 hr rule for baking trays that needed a soak. & regular dishes are not a baking tray so don’t need a soak

Truth. My mother taught me about the sanitary, panties, etc. My husband never saw evidence of my monthly.
You are speaking truth!
Chic.
In a nutshell, be clean and tidy in all ways at all times.
Wherever and whenever you are, and whoever is (or isn't) around.
Sometimes, it’s required to break it all the way down for some people.

YES. I CAN! 😂😂😂 ELEGANCE IN PUBLIC AND AROUND OTHERS, BUT I GOTTA GET SOME REST...🤣🤣🤣, BUT I DO AGREE WITH YOUR POINTS; ESPECIALLY ABOUT HYGIENE...
