    I've driven Spa in real life at racing speed. As with pretty much every track, the speed makes it feel really bumpy especially under braking where your vision is blurred by the vibrations. Real racing is like racing in a early gen VR headset. Reading signs in the distance? Forget it. You won't be reading them close up either, due to vision blur.

      What are your settings? I tried pcars 2 last night with my quest 3 and it was so blurry compared to ac or iracing. I used native res (1.5*) at 90 hz. I have a 3080. Didn’t change a lot of in game settings though

      We’re you playing VD or wired? I tried VD and I get weird stuttering from the environment like when going around corners. Half life and Star Wars ran fine. I was using VD on high with 90hz and I have a 4090. Not sure what I’m doing wrong. My performance overlay reports 3ms for the game 4ms for decoding, 7ms for network and 12-14ms for decoding. Seems like good numbers. If I’m just sitting in the car and move my head around it’s smooth and fine.

      I have trippels and pico4, I play VR occasionally. Trippels is a little less immersive, but Trippels has a larger VOF, better image, no lag, and much more comfortable. When I play VR, I set the world scale in Steam VR to 110, which is more similar. with reality. Gives more immersion. I also have a motion rich, so you will experience neck pain with VR glasses.

    Hi there. The battery is draining even with cable plugged in? Doesn't that calbe also charge the headset?

    • @dtrjones
      @dtrjones Год назад

      Yes no it doesn't sustain it unfortunately. I don't think this person has it plugged in though. The figures I saw playing a demanding game was for 45 minutes the headset when plugged in used about 20% of battery. Still not great but you should be able to get 3 hours 30 minutes of play, that drops to 2 hours 'ish without the charge cable. Hopefully that helps! Ps in passthrough these figures will be even worse!

      Yes, the cable was actually plugged in for this, keep in mind I had 120hz ticked as well which draws a bit more but I think the battery has gotten a little better, maybe it needed a few cycles. I'v played AC and ACC on Quest 2 and Reverb v2 and ACC was always trash. AC looked way better. The main reason I sent them back was because of the small sweet spot. Reverb was sharper, but smaller sweet spot. Quest 2 was softer overall but sligtly bigger sweet spot. The biggest flaw was not able to see whats in the mirrors just by looking away of the center and small viewing angles. Are you able to clearly see what's in the mirrors without moving your head but just by moving your eyes?

    I enjoyed your 1st impression of the Quest 3 playing ACC in VR. If I only wanted to spend no more than $500 for a PCVR headset strickly for ACC and AC, is Quest 3 it? I'm not likely to play stand alone Quest games. And I'm more than happy to spend less on a dedicated PCVR headset, if there is one that's worth it. Perhaps Rift S?

    • @JasonStorm
      @JasonStorm  Год назад +1

      Hi, thanks, yes, the Rift S is a great headset in my opinion but I don’t really use mine anymore for a few reasons, meta doesn’t support the Rift S anymore so you would have to buy second hand and if there’s an issue with the cable or something they can’t help you, in saying that newer VR headsets a come a bit of a way since then, resolution is better, screen door effect is better, lenses are better (on most headsets anyway), tracking algorithms are better, I personally find the head tracking to be better on the quest 2 and 3 compared to the Rift S and the Rift S is limited to just 80hz, the few benefits to the Rift S would be lower latency, more comfortable out of the box and if your using a lower to mid range gaming PC the Rift S is an easier headset to power with a lower end GPU but I would probably go a quest 3, there is the HP reverb G2 which is popular for sim racing as well but I haven’t used it and would probably only recommend if you have a good GPU, I have heard good things about it, I have debated buying one to try it out but I went a HTC cosmos elite with gear VR lens mod instead

      Depends what titles your planning on running, most titles in sim racing are pretty good with a 3060 but you won’t be able to run max settings and resolution in this game (ACC) in saying that, ACC performs better on Nvidia compared to AMD in my testing by 20 or more FPS with equivalent graphics cards, (keep in mind ACC is also CPU intensive when racing against AI) I have a 3070 that I used to use in my sim and it actually worked well on high settings but 3060 you may have to run mid settings in this game, other sim titles like AMS2 and factor 2 and iracing will be okay though
