i think its because this case was charged as culpable homicide. its when person a abuses person b which is likely to cause death but not necessarily cause death and that the main intention at first was not to kill her. in short words, it was the abuse that killed the girl not direct murder. i might be wrong, im just a 16 year old interested in crime!
As a parent, I still remember the anguish, anger and sadness back in '14 when I was reading the news. This video brought back those feelings again. An innocent child borne to this world doesn't deserve this. I hope Umaisyah is in a better place where angels in heaven are caring for her.
For such a heinous and gruesome murder of an infant the minimum sentence should have been life imprisonment for both the parents. Even if it was an act of rage the abuse over the years and no remorse and hiding of the body shows they had no empathy. Disgraceful act.
Still we have people complaining about how death penalty to drug traffickers is against the law.... It would have been a different situation for the parent's life had drug didn't exist. Maybe the kid would have grown up to a loving parents who would have worked hard day and night to help their kids survive. Imagine destroying the lives of people only to make the life of a drug trafficker better.
I feel like they should have had the death sentence if your only 35 and have 20+ years of jail you will still be out by 40 and will still get to live your life know you took a 2 year old’s life, he most likely didn’t even speak her first word yet😢
Ayo her eldest brother was 10 when she was 2??? The parents went to prison at 22-23 so they made babies at what 23-(10-2)-1=14?????? Edit: the mother conceived at 13
@@nonimportantcreature4744 wrong it’s even worse. They made kids at 13, not 15. 23-10 =13 . At 13 first kid, then at 21 second kid, then at 23 two kids aged 10 and 2
@ I was about to edit -1 for age of conceive then your comment came up lol. And the dad was 23 that’s where it came from. btw where did the other 5 children came from if they had their 2nd at 21?
Getting hit is actually so bad since most of the time adults don't really understand the amount of strength they're using on children. It breaks my heart.
Those that can afford to have kids dont want to have kids. Whereas those who cant keep procreating as if theyre trying to start a basketball/soccer team
I don't know about the uncle... But the kids would have not told or helped the baby because they might be scared to help her, like they would have thought that if we went to help our baby sister, we would also get punished by the parents and wouldn't have done anything, so even the kids were helpless. In my opinion.
Why did family court allow the kid to return to family? If the child protection officer see the children are neglected?, why did they not put up a request for all children to go to foster care system?? What is the purpose of the family visit then?
I feel parents who doesnt know how to love their own child should not even give birth to them. I heard someone say before 'every child deserves a parent. But not every parent deserves a child.' so if they dont know and cant handle kids then dont give birth la knn. Itchy itchy then give birth then end up the one who suffers are the children. Eh hello. They didn't choose to be born. After being a mom myself i feel children are the most precious gift one could have. Taking care of a child is no doubt difficult. Right now i also taking care of mine myself. With the help of my husband. So i understand its not easy. But doesn't give them the rights to abuse and eventually kill their own. This story really break my heart. Its really damn sick. Seriously. The more i think about it the more i cannot tahan. I dont think the charges the parents face is even enough leh...
You ought to look into the Moors Murderers, Ian Brady and Myra Hindley. Interestingly enough, the DJ, Jimmy Savile is rumoured to be an accomplice of the Yorkshire Ripper, who had a Singaporean victim who survived. Savile enigmatically said: “Am The Myra Hindley story!” Listen to Very Friendly by Throbbing Gristle, it’s as awesome as it is horrific. A great piece of storytelling by Genesis P. Orridge.
What I don't understand is that the father was not given the death penelty. After all, he was hooked into drugs and abuse her. The wife was no exception, the wife let him abuse the toddler and even covering up the abuse and murder.
In what world did the msf deem it is safe and right to send the girl back to the original family when they will have 7 kids in a one room flat.. Even dog also have a limit per hdb
In a school I used to teach at, there were many kids that were (suspected) to be neglected and abused. But as teachers, when we contact the parents and they act like everything is fine there is really nothing much we can do. If we were to take the risk of reporting it just to be safe, and it turns out to be untrue we would lose our jobs. In this case because the parents did come up with stories to cover up their tracks I believe it was also difficult for the different government bodies to investigate more even if they truly believed that something is not right. Even if there is a 1% chance that the parents are telling the truth and they were to complain, it’s ggwp for whoever that insist on investigating.
Are the parents brains working at that time? Hw can they do that to a helpless little child? Really feel sad for the little girl...hope she is in a better world now... 🙏
Crazy sia. Imagine living as their neighbour for 5 years only to find out later that such gruesome crime happened. 😢
Just 14 years for the mum and 21 yes for dad. Imo, ridiculously little number of years. Why didn't they both get life sentences
Thats what I'm saying. In cases of murder, instsnt life in prison
i think its because this case was charged as culpable homicide. its when person a abuses person b which is likely to cause death but not necessarily cause death and that the main intention at first was not to kill her. in short words, it was the abuse that killed the girl not direct murder. i might be wrong, im just a 16 year old interested in crime!
adding to this though, cupable homicide are usually charged with 20 years imprisonment and strokes of cane and or fine
@@rawr9708 ahh I see
This case is so sad.. our foster care system failed her. The state failed her. We as Singaporeans failed her.

Every child deserves to have loving parents who dote on them & protect them for the rest of their lives. 😢
