Foundation is so hard on production. Even one frame per box sure pulls them back.
I feel your pain
Good stuff Kamon really enjoy. Thank you.
Funny, I just commented on a video about checkering in drawn comb to get foundation drawn and recommended one of your videos for the person to watch 😂 and now you just made a new one showing the same thing again 😂 hope you're having a great time in Wisconsin, pity your family couldn't make the trip with you 👍👋
Thanks! I am hoping to bring the family up with me at some point! Beautiful country
So glad you are back to videos man! Keep em coming. I tell everyone to watch your Channel new or advanced we are learning everyday.
Thanks! We have more good stuff to come!
i haven't had much success using the "bait" comb approach, usually they just make that 1 or 2 combs i bring up into massive fat combs and when they get around to drawing out the adjacent combs, they are much thiner, or even not built past the frame rests. have been ok taking full boxes of acorn foundation and spaced to 9 and have them drawn out beautifully. bees are weird!
That's why I'll never checkerboard again.
At most, my next plan is to move up two frames for 3 days max and then move them back down/out
Same, seems they either are in the mood to make waxs or they are not.. Or they are have more genetic disposition to build comb.
That was an awesome looking hive. Great bee keeping.
Check out the Thorne Heavy Duty Wisconsin frame spacer at Thornemfg.com They are also carried at HappBeeacres.com
How often so you feed bees during the dearth? Do you just keep the feeder full? Thanks I binge watch your videos
If they have 40 lbs or more I may not feed them for several weeks. I try to maintain a total of about 6-7 frames of feed in a double deep. So if they start getting low I hit them with more as often as I need to to maintain colony size and weight
@@kamonreynolds thanks so much.
We were just working a yard in Saint Croix Falls (western Wisconsin). Where abouts were you? With all the rain, did Chris have a hard time keeping up with the swarms? Half the hives swarming was common this year. Insane. Thanks K.
I was just thinking 🤔 “Kamon how are you gonna get those supers all stacked up😊🥰-(said with 😂😂)
Right!! 😆
Ha Kamon Enjoyed the video, I do not think I have ever seen u in a full suite, but maybe 1 time I remember you talked about it, u got it from Blake, the bee supply is it hot to wear. how do u like the gloves the gloves look real nice. Hope you have a great day.
Great info 💪 are the oxalic strips already legal in US? Does it make a big difference on varroa? Best regards from Slovenia
They are a great hold the line type of treatment! Not a strong knock back. Start when the mites are low and they are great
I keep hearing that bees having trouble building comb above a queen excluder. What is your experience with this?
What all do you have blooming in the near future?
Hey good morning any update on the SHB bait. I have put multiple baits in. Will check in 2 weeks but the mfg is awesome he advised to place the bait boxes in the top not the screened bottom
What are those gloves you are wearing and where did you get them
Where did you get that 9 frame spacer
Thornemfg.com they will last 300 years of use haha
What kind of OA strips are they using?
I’m drying this year’s harvest. Unfortunately I missed an ant hill on the back side of my honey house. The ants infiltrated my house and have found my drying honey. I have put ant bait away from the supers and have put diatomaceous earth around the spot that the ants are entering the house. I also covered the ant hill with diatomaceous earth. Any other suggestions? Thanks for your informative videos and I’ll see you at the expo.
Nothing that I can think of that isn't gas in the ant hill, or a bait station.
Ants drive me crazy! See you in Jan!

First year bee keeper here. I'm curious what you mean by drying the harvest. Is this uncapped honey that was pulled? I thought once the bees capped the honey it was ready to go. Is there a process between pulling full frames and extracting the honey?
@@disillusioned070 Sometimes the bees don't cap the honey for various reasons of their own. If that happens and you wish to harvest it anyway, you have to make sure it is dry enough. Sometimes it is and sometimes it isn't and you have to help evaporate the water out of it.
@@disillusioned070 Sometimes capped honey can still contain too much moisture. If you don’t bring the moisture content down then it will ferment and can ruin your honey. Most of my honey was capped but there was some uncapped honey. My capped honey tested at an unacceptable level (18.7%). I want to get the level at least below 17% and would really like to get it around 15.5%. It’s taking some time because it’s been raining here for the last few days and it’s supposed keep raining for a while yet. Patience is the key!
