    A recent favorite for me is to grab some egg roll or spring roll wrappers and a bag of Cole slaw mix.
    I wilt the Cole slaw mix in a pan with some cashew pieces and Asian spices then use that as filling.
    I spritz the egg rolls with olive oil spray and cook the in the air fryer. You can freeze the uncooked egg rolls and air fry them from frozen and they turn out just as good. It's a very healthy alternative to regular frying.

    The study of Erythritol you stated in your video was debunked. They used an extremely small participant group--so small it was laughable. That said, most Keto diet users are switching to Allulose as their diet sweetener of choice. In the stirfry meal you made, you mentioned that if you added more vegetables, your carb count would be above the standard. You used a very good vegetable of choice since broccoli is very low glycemic, but, I would forgo the rice, add more of the broccoli and get your carbs through the vegetables or via another meal. The rice, white or brown, hardly offers many nutritional benefits where you do get nutrition through the vegetable and protein. Great video and it was so nice to see you switch things up a bit! Glad to hear your diet is making you feel better.

      The findings of a major erythritol study by the Cleveland Clinic has just been released. The study involved 4,000 participants. While of course further studies must be conducted, and there was association, rather than causation, between erythritol and heart attack, stroke or death, I’m not sure where you found that this new evidence is being disputed. I would appreciate it if you can point me to the source. Thanks much.

      @ArdentMichelle  Год назад

      Hi R.K 😁 Glad you like this video. Which study did you think I was referring to? What's interesting about it is that they said they were originally not even looking at erythritol but that it was discovered via an association thereby inspiring the study. When I look further I see more negative studies. You might be interested in the association with increased adiposity in young adults 😂 This is similar to the finding with other artificial sweeteners. I think it's just better to go natural. Wish they would stop putting this stuff in our food.

    As a Filipino rice was really hard to give up while I lose weight. I used to think just the thought of cauliflower rice as unappetizing then my health demanded I stop eating rice and surprisingly found out microwaveable cauliflower rice is actually a decent rice substitute. A serving is only 20 calories for 3/4 cup v 160 calories for white rice. Jasmine rice microwaves awesome the next day right from the fridge.
    I also struggle with finding low carb diets that are also low in sodium. It seems that many recipes that are low, carb are high in sodium and vice versa.

    • @ArdentMichelle
      @ArdentMichelle  Год назад +1

      Hi Katherine 😁 Not liking their site at the moment. I put a link for two references for the dates in the description area. Here is one study www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8281151/
      The nice thing about this is that it's a meta analysis that looked at 10 studies.
      I actually first learned about this from one of my diabetic viewers. She said that the dates have very little impact on her blood sugar. If I was diabetic I think I would start with one and test to be sure, but I found lots of other articles recommending that people with diabetes can eat dates. I'm almost positive I read this on the ADA too, but their search engine is horrible.

    • @8lovelynites
      @8lovelynites Год назад +1

      Hi Michelle: The ADA website mentions something about 2 tablespoons of dried fruit a day (that measurement seems only useful for raisins, currants and dried cranberries LOL.)
      Thank you for pointing me to the meta analysis report. I think it is very interesting and hope that further research is done. My (slight) concern about the studies is that the participants consumed types of dates not typically available in the U.S. I’m hoping that that future studies focus on the dates popular in the U.S., such as medjool.
      In the meantime, enjoying one date filled with peanut butter sounds like a drastically healthier alternative to a candy bar!

    • @ArdentMichelle
      @ArdentMichelle  Год назад

      @@8lovelynites Yeah that's not helpful. Wondering if I transposed this info 😂I certainly hope not. I found a study on Pubmed with medjool dates but it has a very small size of 10. I need to copy and paste all my info when I do these videos. I don't understand why it's commonly reported that dates help for blood sugar control though. I mean I know they have fiber but I think it's the phenols and some other stuff. Too complex for me.
      I watched the most interesting video last night. It's making me rethink some things. It was called "THE 3 daily hacks to lose weight and reverse type 2 diabetes." It was an interview with a doctor that was discussing glucose storage. It was very informative- although now I want to verify with some additional reading.
      I saw date syrup being sold at ALDI yesterday labeled as low glycemic. 😂 I'll probably show a shot of it in my next video. Ok I have to get to work on my Easter Video. Have a great day! 😁

    I really like the recipes but these are not low carb meals. Regular beans, jam, tortillas, bread, rice are not low carb. Maybe you mean lower gi? But rice and jam and bread are extremely high gi too so I’m not sure. I would describe these recipes as moderate carb or higher. As someone who must do low carb for medical reasons I think it’s important that people understand the difference. Having said that, I really enjoyed the video and am a big fan of your channel

    • @ArdentMichelle
      @ArdentMichelle  Год назад

      Hi Sandy 😁 I used the academic definition of low carb as less than 130 grams of carbohydrate per day and mentioned that in the beginning so that those on a very low carb or keto diet would know. I am not diabetic or eating keto, but many of my diabetic viewers eat rice and beans and sourdough bread. The ADA mentions beans as a super food for diabetics and features tortillas, rice, and other breads in their recipes on their food hub. I'm assuming that my viewers under medical care have been advised on how many carbs they can eat and therefore would be able to make those decisions for themselves. I know it's different for everyone and no one size fits all.
      Thank you for being a fan of my channel 🥰 I appreciate your feedback.
