- I was jamming and rocking out when the D string on my guitar just gave up and broke. I decided to take the time to make this string change tutorial and I hope it will help out anyone who is learning how to change strings on the electric guitar especially on a floating bridge system.
I want to make it clear that I am not a licensed repair person and all the advice I give is out of personal experience. Ive been changing guitar strings for well over a decade and the things that I do seem to work for me.
The guitar that I am changing the strings on is an Ibanez RG Prestige 2007 (puzzle limited edition)
The strings I used are Elixir 9-42 Nanoweb, I really like those strings and have been using them for many years.
Most of the tools I use could be acquired at you local music store and the local hardware store.
I hope you enjoy this tutorial,

Thanks for this.
You welcome.
Thank you for this i was having a hard time restringing my Ibanez RG my MusicMan Sub Zero is much easier to restring
I am glad this video could help you out, floating bridges are always a bit of a pain when it comes to restringing, but hey I like to do bar tricks so I live with it :)
I just got the Ibanez rg550 and I broke one of the strings. I guess I can do the same method like in this video? I haven’t even the use trem yet. Maybe I’ll have to put it on so I can change the strings following what you did. I’m just new to this cuz I’ve always had fixed bridges guitars. Anyway awesome video dude👍💪
Yeah this method will work even if you only broke one string
@@MaximShelkov thanks man 👍
Is it recommended that you change all the string even if you just broke 1 string? or just change the broken string? Thanks bro
If your strings are old then change all of them as the new string one will stand out tonally compared to all the other ones.
Would you not change them one at at time? I took all mine off and the tremelo system came apart :/
One at a time is also a practice that is done by some, however I find that it takes longer. If your trem came off the studs you’ll have to attach it back, sort of balance it and then put a string on the guitar and through the bridge to hold it in place.
