Thank you for yet another magical Life Is Living! Your presence filled deFremery Park with the contagious spirit of community that will carry us for weeks to come. We want to express deep gratitude to every partner, vendor, sponsor, artist volunteer and staff for their tireless work, sweat, vision and love. From waking up at 5am to set up sound and stages to preparing a healthy and delicious free breakfast for hundreds of people, we acknowledge and affirm the real labor this Festival demands. We hope that Life Is Living continues to be an inspiring model for our collective power to manifest the world we believe in.
How can we find ways to celebrate and sustain life in Oakland for it’s artists, dreamers, families and next generation of leaders? May we plant seeds of intention today for the realities we wish to bloom tomorrow.

Since 2008,
Life is Living has grown from a festival that uses art to foster environmental justice to a mobilized campaign much larger in scope. Currently led by the Life is Living Cohort, Co-Founders Hodari B. Davis, Chinaka Hodge, and Producing Director Joan Osato, Life is Living serves as an incubator for a multigenerational community of local and national artists including Brett Cook, Theaster Gates, Estria Miyashiro, and a host of others.
Commitment to the Community
Each year the festival brings together over 7,000 people to West Oakland’s historic DeFremery Park, a community undergoing rapid transformation as Oakland experiences rising real estate costs and shifting racial and class demographics. At the same time, long-time residents continue to struggle to overcome decades of disinvestment.

Been watching Jun for a while now and never heard of Reina before, but I definitely think she took this. Don't know how all the judges missed that
Damn Reina is the winner here she is more musical and always on point dancing with the beat!
The dude is also good he has the moves but lacking with good moves to defeat someone like Reina.
She made everyone smile.
Reina had insane musicality and was consistent,she should have won this.
reina was and is still so much ahead of all these kids around the world that is crazy. Judges here are probably Jun Fans or they know him better than Reina and for sure they don't know that much about Musicality and dancing overall.
Really!!! No worries Reina, we all know you won. Try not to associate with people like that, sorry that had to happen to you in USA. They did the same thing years back when Rie Hata (Tokyo Body Rock Juniors) came in 2nd. Keep the right people around you, to grow your talent. We love you and follow you, as do the world. I can't believe I'm saying this but I feel like Reina should of won she had more flow and rhythm and this is coming from a hardcore Jun fan. This just wasn't Jun's type of music too fast for his style.

Depends on the judges don't you think? She had better flow but her entire set was based off of basic New Jack foundation. Jun's beatkills were more on point and he showed battle knowledge and diversity.

What is this tomfoolery here? ReiNa was clearly the better dancer, Poppin John or whatever was hella stiff. ReiNa had so much more finesses and so much more versatility. These judges were obviously drunk or high.

Omg.....I follow all of Reina's competitions and the kid was cute but Reina was bad ass all the way as usual!!!! So professional and I admire her for what she stands for all women! Guess no matter where you judges will have their favorites in their "own" eyes!
